The Perfect Revenge Chapter 15
Wilsonville, the oak tree.
Daniel Brooks was dead, a smile frozen on his face. Cause of death was obvious—someone had stabbed him in the heart. One strike, instant death.
"What is this killer trying to do? Killing right under our noses!"
Zhang's voice was low.
"All village surveillance went offline. The fiber optic cable at the village entrance was cut."
Ross couldn't help but feel a chill.
"Agent Zhang! Detective Ross!"
"Jake Wilson has confessed!"
Interrogation room.
Zhang and Ross sat at the interrogation table, barely containing their fury.
"Talk."
I smiled.
"My revenge is complete. I can tell you now. Want to know how I killed them?"
I looked at them both with contempt.
"Are you going to talk or not?"
Ross's expression was grave. You could see he was barely controlling his anger.
I laughed coldly.
"Is this the extent of your psychological fortitude? I'm not bragging—if I hadn't confessed, you'd never solve this case."
Zhang slammed his hand on the table.
"Jake Wilson, don't get cocky!"
My hands were cuffed to the table. I shook them.
"Can you take these off?"
Zhang signaled for an officer to remove them.
"Fine. Since you're being so cooperative, I'll tell you."
"I killed five people in total."
"Susan Miller, Howard Wilson, Louis Tucker, Daniel Brooks, and one more—you can guess who."
The recorder quickly took notes.
"Why did you kill them?"
Ross asked, not rushing to identify the fifth victim.
"You've already figured out the reason. When Lana was brought to the village back then, I actually liked her."
"But these people's ugly faces, constantly making things difficult for Lana—I saw it all!"
"You don't actually think I could settle down peacefully in the countryside, do you?"
"I was waiting for my chance!"
"For this revenge, I've been preparing for five years!"
Ross interrupted me.
"Was Lana involved?"
I laughed coldly.
"Lana? She's already tainted. I did like her initially, but she was with Ken Wilson. I was disgusted."
"I even wanted to kill her."
