"Officer, I just run a deli. How could I kill someone?!"

Henry Wilson was the deli owner in town. Since the town was small, he was the only one.

Agent Zhang stared at Wilson, his presence intimidating.

"What do you usually do with your used brine?"

Wilson answered honestly.

"I change my brine every three days. I usually use the old brine to make noodles for my dog. Whatever's left goes into the septic tank."

"Officer, I wouldn't dare kill anyone, much less put someone in brine."

Wilson was released. He only had brine, which didn't meet the criteria for being a suspect.

He was a businessman with no connection to Louis Tucker.

"Let's investigate the victim's social network."

According to their investigation, Louis Tucker had two sons and a daughter. His eldest son was forty-eight, the younger forty-three, and his daughter just turned forty.

They all worked out of state and had solid alibis.

Tucker's relationships weren't as good as Howard Wilson's had been, but he had no enemies, no debts, and his wife was still alive.

Given his age, Tucker had essentially lost reproductive function, so infidelity was ruled out.

Therefore, both revenge killing and crime of passion could be eliminated.

There were no signs of struggle at Tucker's home.

His wife stated that Tucker had left the house yesterday without explaining why, in a hurry.

The next time she saw him was as a corpse.

So why did the killer choose Louis Tucker?
