The Perfect Revenge Chapter 5
Agent Zhang came to my house.
"Think carefully—do these three cases have anything in common?"
I looked at Agent Zhang and couldn't help but sigh.
"Agent Zhang, you're just like Detective Ross. When you can't find evidence, you come to me. But I actually did notice something they have in common."
"Oh? What?"
Agent Zhang seemed to grab onto a lifeline, quickly pressing for more.
"In Susan Miller's case, before her death, she had a conflict with my wife. They had bad blood. After her death, my wife was framed—hidden under Miller's mattress."
"In the second case, Howard Wilson died about ten minutes after I visited his house."
"In the third case, the victim's body was dumped right at my doorstep."
"I don't need to spell out the similarity, do I?"
Zhang had read the case files and was very familiar with all three crime scenes.
Every case was connected to Lana and me.
Perhaps the perpetrator was targeting me specifically.
"Got it. Thanks."
Zhang's immediate priority was finding the primary crime scene.
Since the victim Louis Tucker had struggled with the killer, the killer must have left something behind. There's no such thing as a perfect crime.
"Detective Ross, continue investigating Howard Wilson's case like before. I saw in your reports that you already have leads. If we work both angles, maybe we can crack this faster."
Ross was reluctant. He'd finally passed off this hot potato, and now it was back in his hands.
"Fine."
The evidence Ross had was still the milk at Howard Wilson's house.
As for what his assistant suggested about the medical examiner's theory—that was basically nonsense.
Paraquat poisoning?
Give me a break. There wasn't a trace of paraquat in the body.
"Detective Ross, the delivery was made by Jake Wilson."
