The Lilith Protocol Chapter 11
"Number three."
Just before stepping onto the terrace, Walter suddenly appeared behind me.
"What?"
I tried to keep my expression normal.
"I told you not to wander around alone. You keep going off by yourself. Do you know something?"
I blinked, standing still.
"I'm just looking for more clues. What could I possibly know?"
His interrogating gaze swept over me.
"Really?"
"Of course it's true. If you say that, do you know a lot? Why haven't you told us?"
The others hiding in back couldn't stand it anymore.
"Walter, you claim to be a veteran who knows all the rules, but it seems like you've been leading us on."
Number four said.
"Yeah, you've never told us the real solution."
"That's because I don't know. But number three seems very purposeful, doesn't she? Wherever she goes, isn't that true?"
Walter spoke, redirecting everyone's attention back to me.
My step onto the terrace paused.
"If you want to come with me, then follow. I've never hidden anything. Whatever I know, I'll tell you."
Everyone followed me.
Walter definitely had something he was hiding. So did number four.
As for the others, I couldn't be sure.
"Don't you all have tasks? You should hurry up and complete them."
I said seemingly casually while examining the decorations on the terrace.
At first, I really hadn't noticed.
There were many paintings hanging here.
Some showed peaceful nights in the small town, others showed storms—seemingly just landscape paintings.
But I discovered something special.
Because of the red dress, I was particularly sensitive to red. I immediately spotted the second-to-last painting—in the crowd, there was a splash of red.
Perhaps this represented Lilith.
The last painting showed many bright stars in the night sky.
Connecting to Lilith's note:
She wanted to become a star?
I instinctively looked up. Right now the sky was overcast, clouds everywhere.
The others looked up at the sky with me.
"There's nothing in the sky."
"I was just looking around."
I was somewhat helpless.
