The Lilith Protocol Chapter 6

2 min 51.6K views

My task was to play Lilith's favorite song on the piano on her Soul Return Night.

I still had a day to find clues. Since tomorrow was Sacrifice Day, there would definitely be more clues.

When I entered the castle, I'd received two messages.

One was from the escape room organizer:

"Where did you all go? You've all disappeared. Did you coordinate not to show up? Just so you know, we don't give refunds if you don't come."

The other was from an anonymous user:

"Try your best to survive this competition. There's only one slot to leave."

I'd thought this was just part of the game atmosphere—until I saw someone really die.

Every round, one person died.

My phone had no signal. There was no way to call for help.

Looked like the only way to survive was to play along with this twisted place.

I'd been lucky the first two rounds. Although I hadn't completed my tasks, I hadn't been selected either.

I wasn't sure if the others had received these two messages. For now, at least, I was still safe.

Passing by a small balcony, I saw Walter standing there, so I approached to talk.

"Walter, do you have any matches?"

He remained standing in place, not saying a word.

"Hey, did you hear me?"

I reached out and patted his shoulder, only then feeling that he seemed to be trembling.

I followed his gaze.

Outside the castle stood a twisted, winding tree that hadn't been there before.

Hanging from the tree was a grotesquely contorted body.

The branches beneath the corpse had long been stained dark red. Moonlight shone on it, casting an eerie glow.

Although it was too far away to see the facial features clearly, I could tell from the clothes that this was number one, who'd left with number seven earlier.

"This..."

Number one was really gone.

You didn't need to look closely to know how chilling her condition must be.

"This prop is made too realistically. If the others see this, they'll be terrified."

Walter took a deep breath and said.

"Oh right, what were you asking me earlier?"

"I said... do you have any matches?"

"What do you need matches for?"

I don't know if it was my imagination, but Walter's tone seemed somewhat guarded.

"I found some newspapers. I want to light a fire for illumination."

I said with a smile.
