The Lilith Protocol Chapter 3

"Are you all really this cold? Someone died and you don't care?"

"And this damn place—we can't even call the police! It's too strange!"

Number four suddenly calmed down. He looked at everyone and took a deep breath.

"You're all too immersed in the game. Right now it's not you who's dead—but what if the next one is?"

His impassioned speech swayed some of the players.

I remained huddled in my corner, making sure no one could suddenly rush me.

Everyone had a secret identity and task.

Completing tasks earned bonus points. Who wouldn't want a higher score?

If you didn't come with someone, you couldn't guarantee they weren't an NPC.

Someone dying in a game—that shouldn't really be possible, right?

"You make a good point. This place is too weird. I felt like I couldn't breathe the moment I walked in."

A kind-hearted girl stepped forward.

Seeing someone agree with him, numbers four and seven's eyes lit up.

"See, there are still normal people in this world. Let's go to the control room and tell the staff we're quitting."

"As for them, the police can wake them up when they arrive!"

Number seven said, glaring at us.

"Okay, we should hurry up and leave."

The girl followed him. But number four stayed behind.

"I'll stay here for now. That way I can coordinate from inside if needed. I want to see what this broken game is trying to do."

As he spoke, he kicked the nearby table as if venting his anger.

His behavior seemed normal. The girl didn't suspect anything, and neither did we.

"Number one's gone. We've lost another competitor."

After hearing the door close, Walter suddenly spoke up.

The girl was number one.

"The body is definitely a prop. They're doing this on purpose."

His words made everyone else both nervous and curious.

"Is it really that hard not to slander people?"

Number four felt around in the darkness until he found a cloth. I heard the rustling sound as he shook it out.

He must have covered the body.

"It's only the first night. Lilith's Soul Return Night is on the third day. Let's all find places to sleep."

Walter spoke quickly, then left at a speed that suggested ulterior motives.

"Let's go find somewhere to sleep too."

"Yeah, let's go."

Several players with closer relationships decided to stick together.

I seized the opportunity to approach them.

"I'm a little scared too. Can I join you?"
