In the end, exactly as I'd guessed.

I thought number five wouldn't return, but it turned out to be Walter.

"Where's Walter? He'd already agreed on the plan with me. If he's gone, won't the plan fall through?"

Number nine said somewhat annoyed.

"What plan?"

Number four couldn't help asking.

"Can't reveal that."

Seeing the four of them so united, number four looked at me.

I shrugged and continued searching for instruments.

Even a flute would work.

In such a large castle, I didn't believe there was only one piano.

"You've misunderstood me. I didn't leave with Walter, but I saw him. He's not dead. Do you want to come find him with me?"

Number four's statement increased his credibility.

Everyone's guard dropped, chattering and asking about the situation.

Looked like they all trusted Walter, but I didn't agree.

If he was really an expert, he'd know only one person could leave. He'd never form cliques, much less help others.

While it wasn't completely dark yet, I quickly looked at the sheet music.

Come to think of it, I hadn't carefully looked at the lyrics to "Praise the Moon."

But since I only needed to perform it, I probably didn't need to sing, right?

I glanced at the lyrics:

"The moon hangs full in the sky, sacrificing itself to complete the night—"

"Moonlight speckles scatter in the sky, shattered moon illuminates the night—"

"The crescent moon lives in the sky, the other half is right beside—"

Each verse had the same melody. Which meant once I found an instrument, I only needed to perform one section.

And it was very simple.

But the content made me feel uneasy.

Talking about shattering, sacrificing, completing—it all sounded like sacrifice.

But I had no proof.

Everyone discussed going to find Walter. I followed along.

This decision proved correct—I encountered a surprise halfway there.
