Lana and I went home.

I had to admit, the killer was smart—using the lure of ten thousand dollars to trick someone into confessing. If it succeeded, great. If not, they'd go themselves, creating confusion.

They weren't afraid of being exposed either. After all, it would just add more confusion.

"Don't go out for a while. I feel like a pair of eyes is watching me." Lana huddled under the covers. For her, the covers seemed to be the safest place.

I nodded in agreement.

We settled in the city. We never went out, ordered food delivery, and even gave delivery drivers tips to take our garbage away.

But these past few days, Lana had been getting stranger and stranger. I didn't know if it was my imagination.

The voice on the other end said this and quickly hung up.

Because the voice just now sounded exactly like Mrs. Miller!
