The Widow's Secret Chapter 9
Lana looked at me seriously.
"Don't you believe me?"
Looking at the blood on Lana, I really couldn't believe her.
From what I'd learned, Mrs. Miller had been stabbed sixteen times, bled all over the bed, her organs spilling out.
The killer was clearly brutal.
I was now hesitating whether to call the police.
Even if I didn't, the police would come looking.
"I woke up today under Mrs. Miller's bed and waited until the police left before coming out."
My pupils contracted. For some reason, I believed her words.
"Let's report this first and explain the situation to them."
Police station.
I visited once again.
Lana was taken for questioning. Unlike me, she was locked in heavy shackles. From what I understood, once identified as a suspect, personal freedom would be restricted.
I kept praying, hoping they'd solve the case quickly so Lana could be exonerated.
The case had been transferred to the city bureau. Our local station didn't have the equipment or manpower to solve a murder case. I followed the city bureau's police car to the major crimes unit.
Lana at least had free accommodation, but the city bureau refused to detain me no matter what.
Frustrated, I could only spend a hundred dollars on a hotel room.
