Blood Legacy Chapter 139: 137. Jail time

I stumbled, struggling to keep up with the puny little bitch's incredibly fast strides as she dragged me right after her through the dimly-lit and narrow corridor.

They'd put a some sort of sleeping spell on us right after placing these weird iron bangles on my wrists. And now we'd woken up in this dark and scary-looking mansion, having our asses hauled by the midgets themselves as they dragged us through long and maze-like corridors and dark and gloomy foyers until we'd reached this odd-looking basement. It kinda looked more like a wine cellar. Its walls were entirely made out of old dusty bricks, filled with cobwebs and dampness and mould, its ceilings low and arched, looking like they were about to cave in on us at the slightest movement as there were so many cracks and dents in them. And I was able to observe all that because there were torches hanging against the walls, gradually lighting themselves up as we passed them, no doubt courtesy of one of these two little assholes walking ahead of us as they dragged Darius and I right after them, a third one closely following as he held Nate.

I stumbled yet again and the bitch blew out a sigh, heaving me right back up with a little more force than necessary as she had her manicured hand tightly wrapped around my forearm.

"Hey! I'm not a fucking rag you tiny little piece of shit!" I angrily yanked at my arm, trying to set myself free from her grip but she simply held on, appearing so incredibly strong for her size.

She rolled her eyes and I threw her a glower, trying to remain rooted to my spot but she tugged me after her with another yank, managing to annoy the hell out of me. Well, I was actually scared shitless too but I refused to let them see that. I couldn't.

So I stumbled right after her, intentionally slamming my body right into hers and she let out a shriek, stopping herself from face-planting on the floor at the very last moment.

Haha. Bitch.

"What is your fucking problem?!?" She turned to yell at me with tangible vexation in her tone, my gaze narrowing on her face as I cruelly spat out,

"You. You are my fucking problem. I wanna see your eyes bleed like I did to your alien-faced little friend back there, in the forest,"

I didn't get to see her reaction as right as I said that the guy that was holding Darius appeared out of nowhere, striking me over the face with the back of his hand. I felt blood pooling in my mouth, my eyes stinging from the powerful blow, but I didn't let them see that. How much it actually hurt.

Instead I righted myself and spat all that blood right in his face, offering him a grin.

Visible rage twisted his features, his eyes appearing to have turned red under the warm and soft light of those burning torches as he stared right back at me.

But before he could even prepare himself to strike me again Darius appeared right behind him, like a vengeful and scary-looking god, his beautiful face displaying lethal calmness as he clutched the scrawny guy's neck between his corded forearms, his cuffs cutting off the little guy's air supply.

"Touch her again and I will rip your fucking head off of your shoulders,"

The midget's face started to turn red from the lack of oxygen, widely staring back at me as he fought to escape Darius' hands, struggling for a few seconds before his female bitch friend came to the rescue, forcing Darius' arms away from tiny guy's neck with the power of her magic alone before shoving him only a few steps away since he apparently seemed to be way too heavy, even for her magic.

"Enough! Behave, you fucking animals before I lose my temper and tear you to shreds right here and now! I'll deal with Desmond if I have to but mark my words, I will make you suffer 'till your very last breath if you don't quit with this stupid little bratty act!" She audibly panted, her cheeks a little red after all that shouting as she angrily stared between us for another moment.

I rolled my eyes, struggling to appear as unimpressed as possible even though on the inside, I was actually quaking with fear. I had no idea what they were capable of. What they were planning to do to us. So far I've only seen glimpses of what they could do with their magic and it was already way too much.

Not to mention that that black-haired guy with dark eyes that had blocked my magic so easily seemed to be the most powerful of them all, and I had a feeling that he was the Desmond she was talking about. And since she appeared to kinda fear him too, that could only mean that we had to fear him even more. They were the infamous council after all. The ones everybody feared. Even though they kinda looked like alien kids, apparently.

Silence befell between the six of us, the blonde-haired little bitch wasting but another second to glower between Darius and I. And with a huffing exhale she grabbed my forearm, proceeding to drag me again to hell-knows where.

We walked the rest of the way in complete silence and only now did I finally start feeling the stinging pain of those cuts and blisters on the soles of my feet, as there was nothing else aggravating enough to distract me anymore. The bitch had conveniently chosen to ignore me, purposely keeping a slower gait so I didn't stumble anymore, henceforth lacking a valid reason to start misbehaving again.

It hurt like hell but the cold and damp stone floor beneath my feet provided a small and measly sort of relief by freezing my flesh and skin with every step that I took.

Another corridor soon appeared into view, a little wider and better illuminated and I could see that there were wooden doors at each side. Some pretty decent-looking whilst others appeared downright weathered and broken, the mere sight of them leading me towards a certain single thought. They were going to lock us in there. Behind one of those ugly-looking doors.

We entered the corridor and passed some of them, the guy holding Darius abruptly halting right next to a weathered and broken one and I almost rolled my eyes at his predictable antics.

He unlocked it by simply waving a hand in front of it, pushing it open before he stepped inside, dragging Darius right after him.

The blonde bitch followed him, so I inevitably found myself entering the chamber as well, my features displaying that evident surprise gripping at me as I looked around.

This wasn't really a cell, actually. At least not what I'd expected it to look like inside.

The floors were hard-wooden, albeit weathered and screechy, the entire room surprisingly filled with furniture. It had a double bed shoved against the opposite wall, its covers and pillows neatly arranged even though they were actually filled with dust and sporting faded colours from years of unuse. There were also nightstands at each side, equipped with fabric-covered lamps.

The wall to my right was filled with shelves, from top to bottom, stacked with so many books of different colours, size and thickness. And the one to my left had a dresser and a vanity table sitting right next to it, both equally weathered and with paint that was slowly curling off of it.

There was a door right next to the bookshelf and I assumed that the room must've also had a walk-in bathroom, the sight of it all making me feel somewhat impressed. I mean, it wasn't the Ritz but it didn't look all that bad either. I was expecting way much worse, if I were to be completely honest.

This was actually pretty livable by prison standards.

*I hope that they'll lock me into a room at least as decent as this one*, I casually thought as I watched the scrawny guy drag Darius next to the bed, his hand extending to conjure up an iron shackle attached to a very long chain.

My brows furrowed, curiously watching as he proceeded to fasten that shackle around Darius' glistening and corded arm, my soulmate staring down at the scrawny little dude as if he wanted to crush him in his hand.

The little guy's shoulders tensed a little, no doubt sensing Darius' menacing stare on him. And without even raising his gaze from the task at hand he angrily muttered,

"Quit staring at me like that, you little mongrel,"

The corners of Darius' sensual mouth curled up almost imperceptibly, a vicious type of satisfaction glinting in his black eyes as he ignored the comment, continuing to stare at him exactly like that. He even tilted his head to the side and I fought back a smile of my own, so pleased to see the vermin squirm like that under my mate's powerful gaze.

"I honestly have no idea what Lycella sees in these sweaty and disgusting creatures," the scrawny male commented, obviously talking to his female counterpart as he worked to remove those bangles from Darius' wrists. "They're way too muscly and gigantic and..." his gaze rose over the imposing length of my mate, his features contorting with disgust as he spat out, "Ugh, beastly."

I let out an amused giggle and the male's gaze snapped to me, his tone bitchy and revolted as he commented,

"Why are you laughing, you slutty little scoundrel?"

I let out another laugh, unable to contain myself,

"You have a friend named Lycella?"

He remained silent and I let out another giggle, way too amused to even try to keep my mouth shut.

"Seriously?"

"Don't tell me that she also has a flea problem because I'll die laughing right here and now," I said after another laugh, the male's gaze narrowing with contempt as he uttered in reply,

"Ugh, she doesn't,"

"But I don't know about your little furry friend here..." his gaze shifted to trail over my mate with a certain hint of disgust, setting me ablaze with rage. And before I could even try to control myself I was already taking determined steps right towards him, only to be abruptly stopped by the female bitch's hand curling around my upper arm.

"Save your strength, princess," she spat that last word out like it was acid on her tongue, the male leaving Darius' side to approach me as he cruelly added with a smirk,

"You'll definitely need it later,"

My brows knitted together at the sound of that, the faintest twinge of panic rising within me as I paused to wonder what he meant by that.

I was even about to turn around and ask, feeling one of them shove at my back as the male said,

"Wait. No, put her in here. With him,"

"What? What if he-"

"He won't. Not after what he just did back in that clearing," the male said to his female companion, his tone mocking and cruel and they both started to laugh, my gaze trailing to Darius as that weathered door slammed behind me with a loud bang, effectively locking us both in there.
