Blood Legacy Chapter 87: 85. The village pt.2

Mindlessly walking down the street as I quietly trailed after the group of overly-excited and chattering girls, I casually listened to their rants about certain festivities and balls regularly held at the castle whilst throwing my eyes around the quaint shops and colourful establishments from time to time, basking in that general sense of comfort and joy this entire village seemed to exude. It really seemed like we had stepped into a fairytale realm. There were no sad faces or even remotely odd glances as we passed by, constantly receiving warm greetings or smiles from every single one of our peers.

Nathan and David had left us to wander around by ourselves a while ago, explaining that they had to hang back for a little while and chat with some of the villagers since they've been absent from the pack lands in these last few months, creating a little bit of unrest amongst their subjects.

I evidently wasn't too thrilled about the idea of him leaving my side in this strange and foreign place at first, but after noticing that there was absolutely nothing to worry about I gradually relaxed and let my uneasiness slip away, falling into a quiet and serene state as I let my body carry me further through the bustling streets.

I smiled to myself as I watched my sister let out a carefree and happy laugh before she tangled her arm with Estefany's and pressed her body closer to hers, like a cuddling cat nudging her head against her girlfriend's shoulder. They all had their backs turned to me as I had fallen behind a little with my constant gawking around, all five of them too engrossed in their animated discussion to even notice my absence.

I simply gazed at them for another moment or two before averting it again, my canvas shoes taking an abrupt halt on the smooth and uneven cobblestone pathway and suddenly disregarding anything and anyone else around me as my gaze accidentally landed on the most beautiful dress I'd ever laid eyes on.

*Whoah...*

I quietly gasped, taking a step closer to the shop's large display window whilst my eyes greedily trailed over it with awe and appreciation, feeling like a little kid on Christmas time.

It was a princess-styled evening gown, made out of the most exquisite fabric I'd ever seen in my entire life. It looked like the finest silk yet somehow sleeker as even though it appeared to be of a soft lilac hue, shimmering light blue, green and pink also reflected in the warm light coming from the spotlights surrounding it from every corner of the window's frame, giving it a kind of a mermaid fin vibe. Its fitted corset had a sweetheart neckline, entirely covered in an array of tiny diamonds that gradually faded into a light dusting of glitter where the skirt began, making it look so shiny and precious.

*And also incredibly expensive, I'm willing to bet*, I thought as I casually stepped closer, comically enough noticing that my reflection had perfectly aligned with it, giving me a faint impression of what I would look like dressed in it.

*Beautiful...*

I mildly shivered at that faint sound of a masculine voice caressing my ears with that sensual whisper, its lilt similar to Nathan's but not quite. It somehow sounded a little deeper.

My brows furrowed, wondering if I'd just imagined it or maybe Nathan was trying to mess with me again through the bond when my gaze fell on that dark silhouette reflecting in the window's glass, appearing to be standing somewhere close behind me.

I startled with fright and turned to look over my shoulder, shocked to notice its immediate disappearance.

"What the fuck?" I blinked with confusion, perplexed as I could swear that I'd seen a guy standing there close behind me. I'd even seen enough of him to remember that he was wearing a black suit. And that he kinda looked like-

"Future Luna!"

I yelped like a kicked puppy, hand over my rapidly beating heart as I whipped back around and came face to face with a nice-looking older woman, her painted lips displaying a kind and genuine smile before she softly dipped a little with reverence.

"H-hi," I nervously smiled back and gestured a small and awkward wave. Turns out I still had a hard time getting used to people calling me like that.

"What a pleasant surprise! Please, be welcomed," she continued to smile at me as she stood in the threshold of the store with the beautiful dress, stepping aside as she beckoned for me to come in.

But I stood and stared at her with uncertainty, about to throw another confused glance over my shoulder and maybe even ask her if she'd seen that guy too when Nathan suddenly appeared out of nowhere, my body thrumming with delightful tingles as I practically sensed his presence before turning to the side to look up at him.

"A-Alpha," the woman stammered, eyes wide before she deeply bowed.

"Soraya," he kindly answered with a smile, making the woman become even more flustered.

"You were missed, oh-so-greatly. Your people welcome you back, and the future Luna," her voice trembled a little and she bowed again like a faithful little servant, this whole interaction of theirs actually managing to make me feel a little weirded-out.

He only smiled at that, his beautiful and knowing green eyes falling on me before pointing towards the stunning gown.

"You like it?"

My mouth opened and then closed as I stupidly stared between them, unsure what to say or do next. I even took another peek over my shoulder, looking at that empty spot on the street where I'd seen...well, or at least I thought I'd seen that frightening guy.

What happened? Where did he go? Did I just imagine all that?

"Come on, let's have you try it on. I wanna see you in it," My gaze snapped back to Nathan, noticing that excited glint in his eyes as I let him grab my hand and drag me inside the store, my mind however still a puzzled mess after whatever just happened.
