Blood Legacy Chapter 62: 62. Bonfire party pt. 2
We arrived at the party already a little tipsy after all those way too many toasts we had back at home, Jess being the only one sober as she was the one who drove us here.
My sister was also kinda drunk as she'd joined us the very moment she heard the words toast and vodka resounding from my room, quickly finding out the reason behind our "celebration", thanks to Kayla's blabbering nature.
We left the car and made that small trek through the woods that led straight to the lake, the booming sound of music growing louder and louder with each step we took.
There were so many people from our school, some I knew and other that I didn't as I casually looked around, noticing some of them dancing whilst others drank from their red cups and mingled around, chatting or having fun playing silly drinking games.
I didn't know why but I simply couldn't stop myself from secretly looking around for him through the sea of people from time to time, barely even registering the moment my sis and Kayla suddenly disappeared from our sides, leaving Jess and I standing there alone like easy prey.
So I grabbed her hand and dragged her with me to the closest keg to at least get some beer for ourselves.
She took a quick and hearty gulp from her cup as soon as I gave it to her, making me realize how nervous she actually was.
"Hey, it's okay dude, I'm right here with you," I gave her a reassuring smile, watching her tuck a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear as she meekly said,
"Will you...stick with me tonight?"
"Of course I will," I quickly replied, throwing her a confused look.
"I'm actually a little scared," She anxiously admitted after a quick and scanning look at our surroundings.
"Why?" My brows furrowed, watching her nervously chew at her bottom lip and hesitate for a moment, letting out a complaining whine as she started to rapidly explain,
"Because he's gonna be here and there will be alcohol involved and dark...corners and loud music and...sex reeking in the air and..." She stopped herself to let out a long and calming breath, fanning at her face and her chest in an attempt to stop herself from hyperventilating.
"Hey, dude, it's okay. I understand. You don't have to be afraid, I'll stay with you for as long as you need me and then we'll go home together too if you want to, okay?" I was quick to say as I grabbed her arm and gave it a mild and soothing squeeze, receiving a quick nod from her.
"Why are you afraid though? Are you scared that he'll..." *lose his shit and make your cheeks clap so hard you'll see fucking stars?*
Her gaze widened as if having heard the rest of that sentence that continued in my alcohol-clouded mind, her face and neck flushing with colour as she hurried to defend him,
"No! Of course not! He's actually the sweetest and most gentlemanly guy I've ever met..."
My brows furrowed, now feeling even more confused than ever.
What was the problem then?
"But...?" I said, coaxing her to further elaborate.
"I...don't want to lose my head and..."
*Oh.*
She was still scared of that natural pull to him. That instinctual need to be close to her mate, like Nathan had explained to me earlier this week.
She was actually scared that she'll end up somewhere in these woods tonight with her ass up in the air and screaming to the stars as he-
Holy shit that sounds kinda hot. *Yep, I'm definitely drunk.*
I lightly shook my head and blinked, quickly ridding myself of those nasty thoughts.
"It's okay. Don't worry, I'll stick around however long you need me to. We can even go home if you don't want to be here anymore," I offered her a kind smile, receiving one in return from her.
We then went to dance together and have a little bit of fun, allowing ourselves a small reprieve as we actually stopped looking around in the sea of people for either of them -David or Nathan- and tried to relax and enjoy our time there.
We played beer pong with a bunch of guys, having fun until some of them actually started to drunkenly hit on us so we left and went to hang out by the gigantic bonfire that burned on the small beach by the lake, thick logs of dried up wood crackling and snapping in that orange blaze as woodsy smoke filled the cool night air, bathing our bodies in a soft warm light.
We sat on a thick log that served as a bench, relaxing as we casually watched other people have fun around us.
I noticed Kayla somewhere in a darker spot by a tree, going at it with Christian again before I averted my attention back to the lake, just in time to watch my sister discard her tiny skirt and run into the cold water of the lake with a thrilled hoot and a few squeals after, Estefany following her like a faithful little puppy exactly as she'd been doing for the whole night now. *At least she has a new babysitter now.*
I could hear Jess giggle from right next to me, entertaining herself with the view as she watched other people follow Dre's lead and throw their drunken asses into that freezing water, playing around like silly little kids.
"Shit, I actually feel kinda cold even watching them," I lightly shivered and wrapped my arms around myself in an attempt to preserve some heat, noticing her turn her head to look at me, that amused smile still etched on her cute face.
She was about to say something when her gaze abruptly darted somewhere past me, that smile faltering on her face as she intently stared, a mildly apprehensive look taking over her features.
I didn't need to turn around and have a look as I already knew who she'd spotted, judging by the mild flush of her cheeks and that slight part of her lips, her throat bobbing up and down as she thickly swallowed.
"He's there, isn't he?"
She only nodded in response, her attention still directed past me so I whipped my head around, noticing David chatting about with a bunch of jocks, hands shoved in his blue jeans' pockets as he stood there, so fucking imposing amongst them. I hadn't really noticed how big he actually was until then. He was visibly taller than anyone of them, and bulkier too, his presence having a certain effect on them as they all stared at him as if he was a fucking god amongst men.
He had yet to notice us -Jess, more likely- as he smiled and talked with them, mildly laughing at what one of them had said when his gaze lastly trailed in our direction, his expression abruptly morphing.
There was this intense and panty-moistening look in his eyes as he stared past my shoulder, actually making me feel a little flustered too as he ignored whatever those guys said next and stalked straight towards us.
*Wow.*
I turned my head to look at Jess, surprised to actually notice that she had that hint of desire too pooling in her eyes as she watched him approach, visibly swallowing.
"Having fun, ladies?"
I blinked a few times and turned back around to peer up at him, noticing that covert hunger in his gaze as he stared directly at Jess, offering his stunning and warm smile.
*Holy shit I'm out. Abort mission. Abort mission.*
"I'm...I was actually going to grab myself another beer," I stupidly blabbered and stumbled up to my feet, throwing Jess an apologetic look before I high-tailed it out of there, eager to get myself as far as possible away from whatever was happening between them.
*Holy crap that was intense.* There was so much sexual tension between them you could actually cut it with a fucking knife.
I turned back around to throw them one last curious glance as I slowly walked backwards and away from them, noticing the way David peered down at her as she was now standing too, blushing as she timidly smiled at whatever he'd just said.
"Hello, darling,"
My body whirled around so fast at the sound of that voice that I actually managed to lose balance a little, staggering for a little bit as I looked up at Nathan's smirking face.
"Were you spying on them? You naughty little girl,"
I rolled my eyes in response,
"I wasn't spying on them. I was just...making sure that he doesn't freaking pounce on her or something,"
I lightly shook my head and made my way past him, straight towards the closest keg of beer.
"Don't you think you've had enough already?" He casually said from right behind me, making me roll my eyes again with annoyance and whirl back around to face him.
"How would you know? Were you spying on me?" I placed my hands on my hips as I stared up at him, brow raised.
But he only smirked in reply, his gaze slowly trailing over my body before his voice echoed in my head like a sensual caress,
*"I couldn't help myself...You look so very...edible tonight,"*
I could feel something stirring up inside of me at the sound of that tone of his, making me feel so uncomfortably warm.
"Whatever. Just...shut your face," I incoherently mumbled and turned back around to resume to my trip towards that keg of beer, unfortunately only managing to take a single step before I suddenly watched the world around me spin and tilt upside down faster than I could even blink, finding myself draped over his shoulder and with my ass up in the air, his warm hand firmly holding onto the back of my thigh.
"Put.me.down!"
