He helped me down from the hood of his gigantic car and followed me as we went inside, casually checking around to see if he was actually right.

"Hello?" I absently called, looking around the empty living room.

"I've already told you that there's no one home," I startled at the sudden feel of his hands on my hips, his body so close to mine as he'd uttered those words in my hair, making me so painfully aware of how good it felt to have him close to me again.

And I was slowly starting to crave for more and more of it. His presence, the feel of him.

We'd gotten so comfortable with each other in these past few weeks, especially after I'd started discovering the powerful magic of our bond and the many things it could do. It felt special and it made me feel...connected to him. In so many ways.

I still felt a little wary of it, but for the life of me, I couldn't seem to be able to stay away from him. Not anymore. It felt like there was this tether, this invisible string between us now that kept that tugging at me, beckoning me to be close to him. And I was slowly starting to give in. With each touch and every kiss.

I turned around in his hold and peered up at him, noticing that hint of desire already dancing in his half-hooded gaze as our gazes met, the sight of it managing to stir something up within me too.

"Oh I know. I was just making sure," I casually said with a mild shrug and a smile, secretly starting to feel a little restless and intrigued by that simple fact. I was alone in my house. With him. We were alone again. Together. In my house.

"Are you scared, little mate?" He offered me a wolfish grin, his eyes flashing with a certain type of excitement as if having felt that thrill of adrenaline spiking within me. Which maybe he actually did. I still didn't know the true extent of his supernatural abilities.

My heart flipped, starting to beat a little harder at the sound of his words, for the second time today having that same deja-vu sensation.

"What? Why? Why would I be?" I feigned nonchalance, my foot however already moving to put some distance between us as instinct took over, feeling that pressing need to run away, have myself chased by him.

"I don't know, maybe of what I could do to you," His head tilted to the side as he watched me step away from him, those emerald eyes switching to black, showcasing that predatory side of him.

*Oh.* It was on. He was in for a chase.

Heart jumping with fright and excitement, I acted upon that impulse and broke into a mad dash, hearing his determined steps trailing right behind me.

*Oh shit.*

This wolf definitely likes the chase.

I let out a startled squeal and forced myself to move faster, my hand failing to grip onto the banister as I went for the stairs, finding myself climbing on all fours as I struggled to put some distance between us and prolong this impromptu cat-and-mouse game we were currently playing. *Or should I rather say...cat-and-wolf game?*

But he leapt right after me, not giving me too much time to play like this as his hand suddenly wrapped around my ankle, earning himself another yelp. And before I could raise myself into a standing position at the top of the stairs he had already tackled me back down over the carpeted floor, holding me trapped as I futilely tried to escape. Except this time, I wasn't so afraid anymore. I was turned on.

"Gotcha,"

He flipped me over my back into a smooth and quick move, that blackness still present in his eyes as he slowly climbed on top of me, his hands taking a firm hold of my wrists and placing them either side of my body.

"Why are you running away, little mate? Don't you know that this wolf likes the chase?"

"It makes us lust more after our prey,"

I harshly panted, surprised by the sudden change in him. But my heart kept pumping from the thrill as I couldn't help but feel so aroused by that roughness in his voice.

I could tell that his wolf was out now, probably lured by what I just did but for some reason, I couldn't find it in me to feel scared of him. I felt rather...enticed. Even though it was barely the second time I was interacting with him. I knew that he wouldn't hurt me. I could feel it.

My body gave out a strong tremor as he leaned over that sweet spot between my neck and shoulder and took a generous inhale, letting out a satisfied groan.

"You're mine. All mine...All mine and only mine," He pulled back to roam his demonic gaze upon me, not failing to notice the way he'd put a strong emphasis on that certain word. *Only.*

When did he become so freaking possessive?

He sounded so much like Nathan now, back when we were spending our days constantly fighting.

"You don't have to worry, little mate. Our sibling cannot hurt you and he never will, not even in death. We will protect you. The human and I," He vowed with such seriousness and conviction, my brows though knitting together with evident confusion at the sound of his words.

*What? This doesn't even make any sense.* Why would he think that his brother could ever hurt me? Didn't he just say that he was dead? And why was he talking about this all of a sudden?

"We could feel that he'd scared you, earlier when you showed us your dreams. It made our heart hurt," He said as if sensing my inner turmoil, his hand letting go of my wrist to give me a tender caress instead over the cheek with the back of his fingers.

I stupidly blinked as I continued to peer back into his black eyes, suddenly feeling so emboldened by his talkative mood. And before I could lose my nerve, I quickly asked back,

"Do you know why I dreamt about him? Your brother's wolf?"

He seemed to know so much. Maybe he knew something about this too.

"The gift of a shaman blood has its own mysterious ways of manifesting. You are young and you need to be trained by your elders first, in order to decipher anything it might show you," He trailed another gentle caress over my cheek as he spoke, his words though only managing to confuse me some more.

"But don't worry, I will pester the human to take you," He added with a side smirk whilst pushing a stray lock of hair away from my eyes.

"Take me? Take me where?"

"Home,"
