Love, curves and heartbreak Chapter 50

8 min 1 views

The project was going incredibly well and in the next few days we would be in Seattle. Ethan sat down with me to go over the entire project in detail.

He spent hours telling me about the client, new trends, other projects he had seen and worked on, and his experience with architects, engineers and developers.

It was fascinating. He shared everything with me easily. In addition, I realized that he was really intelligent, had a good eye for detail, sophisticated taste, and explained what he knew in such a pleasant way, as if it were a story, that it was impossible not to understand him and not to be excited by his words.

He was certainly a very interesting man, speaking to him was hypnotic, I couldn't stop listening to him. It was incredible that when he tried to talk about us, it was so difficult for him to communicate, I thought it was because he was not a good communicator, but obviously that was not the case.

I guess his problem was with me specifically, talking to me about what was going on between us.

However, for several days our relationship was going perfectly, we had resumed our very pleasant arrangement, but he insisted that he also wanted moments that did not necessarily involve us ending up in bed .... or in the bathroom or anywhere else.

Basically, without sex. Just the two of us together. Being with him was nice either way, so I accepted. And I haven't regretted it.

He seemed happy with my attention, and from time to time he would caress my hand with his fingers in a distracted way, his brown eyes watching me, carefully stroking the strands of my hair, it was a different kind of intimacy.

He listened with special attention to my proposal, my goals, he asked me interesting questions, and sometimes we laughed, as if we were a couple of friends at university.

I would have loved to be in college with him, he seems to be the kind of guy who helps others in class, who explains everything with patience and consideration.

"What if we... spent a few more days in Seattle? Just the two of us... after the work was done" he asks me.

"Like a little trip?"

"Yes...our first trip together" he says with a sensual gaze. How cai I deny? Also, I think it was a good opportunity to see how we functioned alone, and since no one knew us in there, we could be together openly, without secrets. It was an idea that excited me.

However, Seattle was not easy. The client was very demanding and from the moment we arrived we had our hands full, the offices had to be ready in a few days and there was still a lot to do.

A lot of things were not the way they should be. Clark and I worked all day, talking to vendors and often staying up late to make sure the installation and every detail was correct. We had a list of everything that was missing, and although it seemed awfully long at first, we found that we could do it.

On the other hand, Ethan had conversations with the client, going over various points and basically managing their expectations.

At the end of each day, I would end up in his room, curled up next to him, sleeping, exhausted from long days of work. I've never ended up sleeping in my own room.

"Today... here we go" my boss said that morning.

The dreaded opening day arrived, and although there were many details that needed improvement, the reality is that no one noticed. Sometimes we are so focused on our own vision of things that we do not realize that people outside our field see things differently.

It was very rewarding to see happy colleagues walking into their offices and admiring the design, the furniture, and the little details that we designers love so much. If they were happy, the company was happy and we were happy. The client was happy, and that was all that mattered.

"Guys...congratulations to everyone, thanks for all your hard work. It's been a tough week, take the afternoon off and see you on Monday with other projects," Clark said, and we all applauded.

"Very good work, Priscilla... you have really proven to meet all our expectations... and I must say they were high. On Monday, please come to my office if you can, there's a class I think you might be interested in. The company would love for you to take it and represent us" he tells me and I smile so hard my cheeks hurt

"But heyyy... first we'll talk to arrange things. And we will also discuss how Nancy can take over some of your workload. You have trained her well, and she is very happy" he adds.

Nancy is the new girl who came to help us, she didn't come to Seattle, but she's done a great job. I must remember to write to her and congratulate her.

After talking to Clark, I find my favorite person in the place looking at me happily. God... this man is so wonderful. I approach him calmly and casually.

"Congratulations Miss Priscilla... the client has no complaints, he's happy, me too. You did well, very well" he tells me formally, then leans into my ear to whisper in a seductive voice.

"And... we have a few days alone, I think there's nothing better in the world than that" he says, brushing his lips against my earlobe.

I become paranoid to see if anyone noticed this subtle but sensual interaction.

"I'll wait for you in your room, but... I booked another room, together, you and me, what do you think?" as he looks me in the eye, I see his tongue licking his lips, sending fire through my veins.

"I think it's a very... flattering and amazing proposal that I'm willing to accept," I tell him, as if he's just offered me something trivial. He looks at me and smiles mischievously.

He loves this game and so do I, I don't know if it's the mystery, the unspoken words, the pantomime, but it's exciting.

"We're leaving in thirty minutes, okay?" he says looking at his phone and I nod. With a smile, I leave him to talk to other people and see the impressions of all those present at the inauguration.

As I walk down one of the corridors leading to one of the meeting rooms, I bump into Kate. She was in a terrible mood, looking at me with hatred, as if I had hurt someone very dear to her.

"So this is the reason for your success?" she says, crossing her arms over her chest. She strikes a pose as if she owns the world.

"You mean work, work, work, day and night? You should try it sometime, it is very rewarding" I tell her, and she gets even more insulted.

"Come on! Work my ass! You seduced Ethan! That's what happened! No wonder you have the best projects, everyone congratulates you, and then I'm supposed to believe it's because you're such a dedicated worker. You haven't even studied design!" she says, bitterly.

I am glad we are alone, because I would not want anyone to have heard everything she said. I guess she saw us a few minutes ago. Damn it!

"Actually, it is because I am a designer who does her best and works a lot, not like you. Your clients have already said they don't want to work with you. Do you think I didn't know? Everyone in the office knows!" I tell her, and it's true, it's gossip in the office. Her beautiful face changes. She approaches me like a predator.

"It's all lies...the only truth is that you have to do who knows what to get Ethan's support...I always knew you were a do-gooder who wanted to raise your status as fast as possible. And here you are taking advantage of him"

"Enough Kate... you don't know anything!" I replied.

" He probably thought you were a charity case. I strongly advised him not to associate with people like you. What I don't understand is how he fell into your hands... you're a vulgar, fat girl with no charm whatsoever. What did he see in you?” she says, trying to hurt me with her words, but I don't give a damn.

"Look Kate... I don't care what you think. I recommend that you dedicate yourself to your work, so that you realize that there are no shortcuts in life, you reap what you sow, and you have been a pain in the ass, you have not helped anyone, on the contrary, you have made our work impossible"

"How dare you?" she asked, astonished.

"Do you think Clark didn't notice? All your colleagues hate you and no one wants to work with you! You keep blaming me, seriously? I've known Ethan since we were kids, I know his sister, his parents, we've spent vacations and holidays together. That's all between him and me. Please don't talk about what you don't know. Stop thinking you know anything about me," I finally say and walk away. She grabs my arm with those long fingernails that look like claws.

"You can fool anyone. I don't know how you bewitched such a powerful and sexy as hell man... but you're hiding something and plotting something! You're a harpy! Watch out Priscilla because I won't let you out of my sight, I swear I'll find proof and tell Clark!" She yelled at me, but I pulled out of her grip.

"You can do whatever you want Kate... at least you would be doing something... that would be a change..." I tell her without turning around. I don't need superpowers to see that she's screaming and stamping her feet like a child.

Enough of taking shit from everyone. I'm in a good moment, and I'm going to take advantage of it, and those who don't like it... please get out of my way.
