Rebirth: Mommy's Revenge Chapter 312: I Can't Comment on the Relationship Between You Two
Hearing this, William actually took a moment to think seriously, then nodded solemnly.
"You're right. No matter how good my words sound, they can't compare to real actions."
Elara was taken aback.
William continued, his face showing sincerity and reflection. "I know my past behavior wasn't great, and it's normal for you to have doubts."
"But that's all in the past. From now on, I won't just talk. As long as Christina understands my feelings, that's all I ask."
It was rare to see William so earnest. This was the first time Elara had seen such an out-of-character expression on this usually aloof and proud man.
Yet, she didn't find it off-putting. Strangely, she felt that if William said it, he could do it.
She turned her face away awkwardly, letting out a haughty humph. "Your words sound nice, but let's see your actions first!"
With that, Elara walked towards the back garden without looking at William.
William touched his nose, knowing that no matter what he said now, Elara probably wouldn't believe him.
But that was okay.
He looked warmly at Harper in the distance and followed her.
Heaven had given him a second chance, a brand new opportunity.
Everything could still be made right.
Harper was lost in the sea of flowers, utterly delighted.
Although her family had a garden, it didn't have nearly as many flowers as Elara's!
And Elara's garden smelled so nice, with a scent that made people feel comfortable.
"Ms. West, your garden is so beautiful!"
Seeing Elara walking over, Harper ran to her with a happy and surprised smile.
Elara couldn't help but smile, gently taking Harper's hand. "Yes, I love flowers, so I planted a lot."
After a pause, Elara softly asked, "If you really like it, Harper, would you like to stay at my house for a while?"
Harper's big eyes lit up instantly. She was about to nod but then seemed to think of something, and her face scrunched up.
"What's wrong, Harper?" Elara asked gently.
Harper frowned, nervously twisting her fingers. "If I stay here, I won't be able to see my mom and dad."
"Even though I really want to stay, I still want to see my parents often."
"So, Ms. West, maybe it's better if I don't."
Seeing Harper's adorable and sensible demeanor, Elara's heart melted.
Harper was so sweet. If Elara wasn't so focused on her career, she would love to have a daughter as cute as Harper.
But thinking about someone wanting to harm such a lovely child made Elara furious.
It was outrageous!
But it wasn't appropriate to bring this up in front of the child, so Elara decided to hold back for now.
She could address it after Harper's treatment.
"It's okay."
Elara smiled gently at Harper, coaxing her. "Harper, I'm not asking you to stay here forever. You can come and stay whenever you want."
"When you want to see your parents, I'll take you back. How about that?"
Hearing this, Harper finally breathed a sigh of relief.
But she still instinctively looked at Christina and William, seeking their approval.
Though she was asking for their opinion, her face was full of hope and longing.
"Mom, Dad, can I stay here sometimes?"
"Of course."
Christina smiled warmly and nodded. "Ms. West is someone I trust the most. As long as you don't disrupt her work, you can stay as long as you like."
Hearing this, Harper jumped up in joy. "Great! Thank you, Mom!"
Seeing Harper's beaming smile, Christina couldn't help but smile too.
As long as she could see Harper happy, this life wasn't so bad.
Except for the presence of someone she didn't really want to see.
William watched the scene, feeling like he was on the outside, unable to join in the warmth.
He envied Harper and Elara but had no right to say anything.
His eyes showed a hint of sadness, filled with envy.
But then, he felt a small hand gently tugging at his.
He shivered slightly and looked down.
Harper was looking up at him, her big eyes full of confusion.
"What's wrong, Harper?"
William's heart softened, and he gently hooked Harper's pinky.
"Dad, everyone is smiling. Don't be sad, or Harper will be sad too."
William's heart warmed, and he nodded with a smile. "Okay, as long as I can see Harper often, I'm happy."
Watching this, Elara couldn't help but roll her eyes.
She leaned over to Christina and whispered, "Christina, you're not really thinking of getting back with him, are you?"
Christina shook her head, suppressing a flicker of emotion. "Wounds, even when healed, leave ugly scars."
"I don't want to give anyone the chance to hurt me again."
Hearing this, Elara sighed silently.
The relationship between William and Christina seemed like a doomed fate, endlessly entangled.
Elara had only seen a bit of William's change. She hadn't truly witnessed what efforts he had made for this relationship.
At least since William realized his mistakes, she hadn't seen it, so she couldn't judge their relationship.
But seeing how William had unconditionally chosen to believe Christina and stand by her during the storm of public opinion, he had changed a bit.
"Well, I can't really comment on your relationship."
Elara patted Christina's shoulder and sighed deeply.
