Rebirth: Mommy's Revenge Chapter 317: Almost
Just thinking about it made Thora furious. How could she possibly be content with this?
She was already seething with anger, let alone ready to give up!
Suppressing the rage bubbling inside her, Thora wanted to rush in front of Harper, snatch her away, and continue making Christina feel the pain of loss.
But just then, a pair of large hands suddenly grabbed Thora's wrist, and another hand tightly covered her mouth, pulling her into a car.
Thora's eyes widened in terror. Even after the hand was removed, she instinctively wanted to scream.
"Jennifer, don't scream. It's me."
A familiar male voice sounded. Thora looked at Casey, who was sitting in the driver's seat, and she was livid.
"Casey, why are you ruining my plans!"
Thora demanded furiously.
Casey, however, kept his hands on the steering wheel, his face composed as he continued driving, not responding to her.
But his tightly pressed lips betrayed his nervous and worried state.
Seeing him remain silent only made Thora angrier.
"Do you know how close I was? If I had taken Harper away, if Harper had seen me, she would definitely remember me!"
"Having Harper call me 'Mom' and seeing Christina in pain and helpless would make me feel so much better!"
Thora screamed hysterically, but Casey remained silent, letting her barrage him with questions. He felt helpless and unsure of what to do.
In this situation, if Thora really showed up, William and Christina would never let it go. They would investigate until they found something.
Moreover, William had already hired top private investigators.
If they found even the slightest clue, Thora's past as Jennifer would be exposed!
Even if Thora were to appear, it had to be at the right time. Now was definitely not the right moment.
But...
Casey looked at the hysterical Thora with helplessness.
Thora was beyond reasoning now. Even if he explained things calmly, she wouldn't understand.
The car finally stopped in front of a discreet apartment building.
Casey got out, grabbed Thora's arm, and pulled her into the apartment.
"Let go of me!"
Thora struggled but couldn't break free.
Once inside the living room, Casey released her, and she glared at him angrily.
"Listen, Casey, just because I'm staying here doesn't mean you can boss me around!"
"You saw it yourself. If Harper had seen me, those altered memories would have resurfaced!"
"Then, I could easily come up with an excuse, and they wouldn't suspect me anymore!"
William had been investigating recently but hadn't found any significant clues!
William and Christina only suspected her; they had no concrete evidence of her ulterior motives!
Besides, Casey had been extremely careful during her plastic surgery, leaving no trace!
The more Thora thought about it, the angrier she became, increasingly dissatisfied with Casey's interference.
Casey sighed helplessly. He knew Thora would say this and that she wouldn't listen to any explanation. But even if she wouldn't listen, Casey had to speak.
"Yes, they haven't caught you yet. I handled the details cleanly, and even if you appeared, they couldn't do anything to you. But now, William has hired top private investigators. They uncovered explosive news about the Bennett Family, which seemed impenetrable. If they find anything, do you think you can escape once you appear before them?"
After hearing this, Thora knew he was right and felt a bit scared. But seeing Casey's serious and worried eyes, Thora still stubbornly argued.
"I don't care. You shouldn't interfere in this! Seeing Christina happy makes me angry and uncomfortable! If you think my plan won't work, then come up with a better one. Don't keep me cooped up at home, doing nothing! If this continues, and they reconcile completely, I'll have no chance!"
Initially, Casey wanted to comfort Thora, saying he had a plan. But after hearing her last words, Casey felt only disappointment and sadness. He looked deeply at Thora, feeling hurt.
"So, you're doing all this to win William back?"
"Of course!" Thora nodded without hesitation, her eyes filled with a mix of love and hate. "If I can have William, great. If not..." Thora's face twisted with madness, and she said slowly, "If I can't have him, no one else can. Even if it means destroying everything, I'll be the one to do it!"
Casey was frightened by the madness on Thora's face but felt more helpless. He admitted that William had hurt Thora deeply. But to get revenge, she was willing to sacrifice herself. This approach matched Casey's understanding of Thora. But he didn't agree with it.
"What, are you regretting helping me?" Though she didn't like Casey, Thora could see his thoughts and couldn't help but mock him. "If you don't want to help me, then let me go. I'll figure it out myself! Don't worry, I won't drag you down or mention your name!"
With that, Thora turned to leave, her eyes and actions showing no hesitation. Casey didn't think much and quickly stepped forward to grab Thora's arm. But he let go and blocked her path. Thora just looked at him, not speaking. She seemed certain he would compromise.
"Calm down. My plan is almost ready. I'll give you an update in a couple of days. Please don't leave, okay?" Casey softened his tone, and Thora naturally accepted.
"Fine, but don't make me wait too long! If I wait too long, I'll still leave!"
Watching Thora return to the bedroom, Casey finally breathed a sigh of relief.
