Seeing the serious look on her face, William's heart sank. He had a pretty good idea of what Christina wanted to discuss.

"Christina..."

"William."

Christina cut him off, her voice steady, "You know why I called you. You know what this is about."

William nodded, "It's about Thora, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

Christina's eyes bore into him, "It's been ages, and you still haven't found any leads on Thora?"

"I'm sorry, Christina," William said, avoiding her gaze, "I've got people on it. I believe we'll have some answers soon."

"Forget it."

Christina shook her head, her voice tinged with disappointment and resignation.

"It's been so long, and you still haven't found anything. Thora must have some powerful backer or come from a prominent family."

"No way."

William shook his head firmly, "If Thora was really that prominent, then why did she say her husband died, she had no kids, and she was so fond of Harper?"

Seeing Christina's hesitation, William tried to reassure her.

"Don't worry, for you and Harper, I'll get to the bottom of this, no matter what."

Christina just nodded casually and then shifted the topic to the kidnapping.

"By the way, this kidnapping wasn't straightforward."

She then told William about encountering Jennifer during the kidnapping.

William frowned deeply, "You saw Jennifer?"

Christina nodded, then shook her head.

"We're not sure. Jennifer's face was completely covered, but her voice was exactly like Jennifer's."

"She said she'd make us regret it and wouldn't let us live peacefully."

"Christina, don't worry."

After Elara left, William took Harper back to the room.

She seemed to hear Harper whispering.

"Shh, Mommy's sleeping. Daddy, don't wake her up!"

"Okay."

William smiled, "How about Harper comes home with Daddy tonight and lets Mommy sleep well in the hospital?"

During the kidnapping, Christina had protected Harper.

Harper, being strong, wasn't affected much.

But Christina, having given most of her food to Harper, had hurt her stomach.
