Rebirth: Mommy's Revenge Chapter 324: Things Are Not Easy to Handle

4 min 29K views

Christina tried to comfort herself, and thankfully, Harper wasn't the type to get scared easily. Seeing her mom's calm demeanor, Harper quickly relaxed as well.

While the mother and daughter were thinking of ways to escape, William was nearly losing his mind trying to find them.

Based on the surveillance footage, they still couldn't pinpoint a suspicious vehicle. The footage was incomplete, and despite using various technical methods to restore it, they couldn't get a clear picture.

So far, William had no leads. Even with the police assisting, he was incredibly frustrated.

The press conference had ended, but since William and his family didn't attend, the Cavendish Corporation was somewhat affected. However, William couldn't care less about that right now.

He exhaled deeply, gripping his phone tightly, his eyes fixed on it. Since Christina and Harper had been taken, it was likely a kidnapping. He needed to wait patiently for the kidnappers to make contact. Once they did, he could start piecing things together.

Just then, Bob hurried over, looking anxious.

"Mr. Cavendish, we have a problem!"

William jumped up, instinctively asking, "Is there news about Christina and Harper?"

Bob shook his head, and disappointment washed over William's face.

"Sir, you should check the trending news."

Bob held his phone out to William, who didn't want to look but caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye. The headlines suggested that Christina and Harper had run away before the press conference, hinting at a marital crisis between William and Christina.

William had anticipated this. If someone was targeting his family, the ensuing news would be troublesome and difficult to handle. Despite this, William remained calm, though the tension around him grew.

With a stern expression, he clenched his fists, suspecting someone. Thora had spent time with Harper, and Harper had been attached to her. How could she dare?

Rubbing his temples in frustration, William made a call.

"Have you found anything about Thora yet?"

The man on the other end broke into a cold sweat. "Mr. Cavendish, she's really elusive. We haven't found anything substantial."

The man wiped his forehead nervously. "Maybe Thora has a powerful backer hiding her identity, which is why we can't find anything."

"I don't care what you have to do. Investigate every prominent figure in the city and find out who Thora is connected to!"

William hung up, feeling restless and scared. Without any news of Christina and Harper, he couldn't calm down. Given a second chance at life, he couldn't let anything happen to the two people he cherished most.

"I can't just sit here and wait!"

Jennifer was equally restless. Knowing Christina and Harper were under Casey's control, she couldn't calm down without confronting her anger. She glared at Casey, who was watching her.

"Casey, what are you planning?"

"You won't let me go anywhere. What's the point of kidnapping them?"

Casey remained silent, rubbing his temples. After Jennifer finished venting, he shook his head.

"Jennifer, you need to look at the bigger picture. If you listen to me, I promise you'll get everything you want."

Though what she wanted didn't include him.

Jennifer rolled her eyes internally. He promised she'd get everything by just waiting here? She didn't believe it.

She scoffed and said, "Fine, if you won't let me leave, I'll find my own way!"

She stood up to leave, ignoring Casey's attempts to stop her.

"Jennifer!"

Casey was angry but seeing her tear-filled eyes, he sighed.

"Alright, if you want to go, I'll take you."

"But," he added as Jennifer was about to speak, "you must follow my instructions. If you don't, I won't let you go, even if you hate me forever."

Jennifer's eyes shifted, and she finally nodded. "Fine, I'll do as you say."

Once Casey was ready, he drove a disguised car, taking Jennifer to a remote area outside the city. After a bumpy hour-and-a-half drive, they arrived at an abandoned factory.

They got out, and Jennifer noticed some hidden equipment on her clothes, feeling suspicious.

"Casey, are you sure Christina won't recognize me?"

Casey shook his head. "She won't, as long as you don't do anything rash."

Jennifer pouted but nodded. "Alright."

Under Casey's watchful eye, Jennifer calmly walked into the abandoned factory.

Upstairs, Christina had noticed the car arriving. Though she could only see glimpses, she saw two people get out. As footsteps approached, Christina instinctively held Harper tighter but kept a calm face to avoid scaring her.

"Mom."

Despite Christina's calmness, Harper sensed the tension.

"Harper, it's okay. Shh."

Harper nodded quietly.
