"Mom's right. It's so dangerous right now, I have to listen to everything she says!"

Christina and Harper clung to each other tightly. Soon, they heard footsteps approaching. A figure, completely covered from head to toe, appeared before them.

The person wore a long black coat and black pants, with a hat pulled low and a black mask covering their face. A scarf was wrapped tightly around their head, making it impossible to tell if they were male or female.

Christina watched the figure warily, not saying a word. She tightened her grip on Harper's arm.

Even though the man earlier had promised that they wouldn't be harmed, Christina couldn't be sure about this new person.

"Who are you?" she demanded.

The figure chuckled, but the laugh was filled with bitterness.

"Who do you think I am?"

Christina's eyes widened in shock as she recognized the voice. "Jennifer, it's you! You're not dead!"

She couldn't believe she was hearing Jennifer's voice again. It was too familiar to mistake.

Christina had thought Jennifer was dead, but here she was, very much alive. It had all been a trick.

"Yeah, I'm not dead!" Jennifer's voice was filled with venom. "Do you feel sorry that I'm still alive?"

"Fate didn't take my life because I have revenge to fulfill!"

Jennifer's voice dripped with hatred. "Christina, why do you get to live happily with William and this child, while I have to hide like a rat in the shadows?"

"Now that you're in my hands, I won't let you go!"

Christina felt a mix of pity and anger as she looked at Jennifer. "So, you came to see me, but you still won't show your true face?"

She smirked. "If you want revenge, take it out on me. Involving the child is just cowardly."

"Don't try to provoke me!" Jennifer shouted. "This face of mine is thanks to you! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be disfigured!"

She touched her face through the mask, her eyes burning with hatred.

If it weren't for Casey's instructions, she would have ripped off the mask to show Christina her ruined face.

"And this little brat!" Jennifer pointed at Harper, making the child hide in Christina's arms. "If it weren't for her, William wouldn't keep coming back to you. You both need to die!"

"Take it out on me, leave the child out of this," Christina said coldly, holding Harper tightly. "You brought this on yourself. You have no one else to blame!"

Jennifer was enraged. She stepped forward and slapped Christina hard across the face.

As she raised her hand to strike again, Casey's urgent voice came through her earpiece.

"Jennifer, that's enough!"

But Jennifer was too angry to listen. She slapped Christina again, making her face swell.

Harper, who had been scared, now shouted at Jennifer, "You're a bad person! Don't hurt my mom!"

Jennifer laughed bitterly. "A month ago, you called me mom. Now you don't even recognize me and side with this woman!"

She reached for Harper, but Casey's voice stopped her again.

"Jennifer, remember what you promised me!"

"If you keep this up, I won't help you anymore!"

Casey's words brought Jennifer back to her senses. She pulled her hand back and glared at Christina and Harper before storming off.

Once she was gone, Christina hugged Harper tightly. "Are you scared, Harper?"

"Harper's not scared!" Harper shook her head bravely, hugging Christina. "If Mom's not scared, then Harper's not scared either!"

"Harper will protect Mom and won't let her get hurt again!"

Christina felt a surge of strength from her daughter's words. She stood up, holding Harper's hand, and began searching the area for anything they could use.

Christina was almost certain they were alone in the abandoned factory. Jennifer had left in a car.

If no one else was here, they had a chance to escape.

But after searching every corner, they still couldn't find anything to break the chains on their feet.

Jennifer was confident they couldn't escape, so she had left them there.

Christina could only hope that William would come through and rescue them soon.

"Casey, why did you make me leave?" Jennifer demanded angrily.

Casey replied calmly, "Jennifer, do you want to reappear in front of everyone without suspicion?"

His words silenced Jennifer. She looked at him, eyes wide. "Do you have a plan?"

"If you listen to me, you'll be able to show yourself to everyone, including William and Christina."

The temptation was too great for Jennifer to resist. She turned away, reluctantly agreeing.

"Fine, I'll listen to you this time. Don't disappoint me!"

Casey sighed in relief. "Trust me, I've never broken a promise to you."

"If this plan works, not only will you reappear, but you'll also clear your name."
