Christina shook her head, staying silent.

William grew even more anxious. He quickly pulled Christina into a hug and grabbed Harper's hand.

He was about to lead them away when he noticed their ankles were shackled with chains. His face darkened immediately.

Seeing this, the people nearby hurriedly used tools to unlock the chains from the two of them.

Once they were back at the hospital, William quickly arranged for a thorough medical examination for both of them.

From head to toe, inside and out, not even a hair was overlooked.

It was only after confirming that they were just a bit shaken up and had no other injuries that William finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Christina, how are you feeling now?"

Looking at Christina sitting on the hospital bed, William asked cautiously.

Christina shook her head, wanting to ignore William sitting there.

But she remembered that he had saved her and Harper, so she couldn't bring herself to be completely cold.

"I'm fine, just a bit tired."

Though she didn't say much else, the clear hint for him to leave wasn't lost on William.

With a bitter smile, he gently ruffled Harper's hair.

"Alright, you and the kid get some rest. I'll come back to see you after you wake up."

He didn't say anything more, just gently reminded Christina and Harper of the doctor's instructions before thoughtfully closing the door and leaving.

Once William was gone, Christina collapsed onto the bed, letting out a deep breath.

For some reason, looking at William just now had filled her with an indescribable frustration.

She knew she should hate him, should cut ties with him completely, but because of Harper, she couldn't avoid being under the same roof with him.

And after everything William had done for her, especially saving her this time, Christina wasn't the type to ignore right and wrong.

Even though she wanted to be cold towards him, she couldn't do it completely. She needed time to think.

"Mom, do you not like Dad?"

Harper's big eyes looked at Christina, her voice neither sad nor expectant, just stating a fact.

"Why would you think that, Harper?"

Christina's heart tightened, and she quickly took Harper's hand. "Of course Mom likes Dad. I'm just really tired and need to rest."

"Oh, okay."

Harper nodded, still feeling like something was off with her mom today.

"Don't think too much, Harper. After you wake up, I'll take you to see Dad, okay?"

Children's attention is easily diverted.

As soon as Christina said this, Harper's previous thoughts were forgotten, and she nodded eagerly.

"Okay!"

When Casey found out that Christina and Harper had been discovered and rescued a few days earlier than planned, his face turned dark with anger.

According to his original plan, the mother and daughter were supposed to be found seven days later.

By then, the charity event would have taken place without Christina and Harper, solidifying the rumors of William and Christina's marital problems.

At that point, the Cavendish Corporation's stock would plummet, and he could take advantage of the situation.

Jennifer would get what she wanted, and he could use the opportunity to bring Jennifer into the spotlight.

But now, the plan was completely ruined, and Casey could barely contain his rage, nearly crushing the cup in his hand.

"How did this happen?"

Jennifer was equally incredulous, immediately questioning Casey.

"Casey, didn't you say they wouldn't be found until seven days later?"

Casey shook his head. "I didn't expect William to be so capable. He had a private investigator find the gap in the surveillance footage."

And with just that tiny, almost imperceptible gap, they found Christina and Harper, ruining his entire plan!

Casey's face was grim, but he took a deep breath.

"It's okay. We just won't be able to hit them as hard as we wanted. It doesn't affect the rest of the plan."

Still, the plan was less perfect now, and Casey couldn't help but feel a bit regretful.

Jennifer's expression wasn't much better, but since things had already progressed this far, she had no choice but to accept it.

It didn't matter. She would soon be standing in front of Christina!

After a good sleep, Christina felt much better.

The little one in her arms had already woken up. Seeing her mom open her eyes, Harper ran over.

"Mom, you're awake."

Christina smiled and nodded, hearing Harper say seriously, "The doctor said that after you wake up, they'll do a quick check-up. If everything's fine, we can leave the hospital!"

Seeing Harper's eager face, Christina smiled, ready to tease her.

But just then, the door to the room suddenly opened.

"Christina, you scared me to death!"

Elara had rushed to the hospital as soon as she heard the news. She grabbed Christina's hand, her eyes red.

"Ever since I heard you two were kidnapped, I haven't slept well. I almost cursed William to death!"

"Thank goodness you and Harper are okay. I wouldn't have let him off if something happened to you!"

Elara waved her fist, making Christina laugh, feeling a warmth in her heart.

"It's okay, we're fine."

Christina smiled, comforting Elara, just as William walked in.

Elara glared at him, about to say something.

But seeing Harper's adoring look at William, she held back, just huffing and turning away.

If it weren't for Harper, Elara would have already started yelling!

Seeing William, Christina wanted to stay silent like before.

But thinking about the kidnapping, her expression turned serious.

"William, I need to talk to you."

Elara blinked, smiling as she called Harper over.

"Harper, your mom and dad need to talk. How about we go for a walk? I'll buy you some treats!"

Hearing about treats, Harper's eyes lit up, eagerly taking Elara's hand.

"Okay, Harper wants lots of treats!"

Once they were gone, William sat across from Christina.
