Elara was taken aback by how determined Christina sounded. Her expression showed a hint of surprise.

Based on what she knew about Christina, she had always been head over heels for that jerk, William.

Elara had thought that with William's relentless efforts to win her back, Christina might eventually cave.

But now, it seemed things weren't going as she had expected.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Seeing Elara's puzzled expression, Christina playfully tapped her nose.

"Don't worry, I'm not the same person I used to be."

"This time, I've been through the wringer in love. It took me forever to heal, and I'd be a fool to go back and get hurt again."

As soon as she finished speaking, Christina saw Elara's eyes well up, and she suddenly hugged her tightly.

"What's going on?"

Christina was startled and quickly hugged Elara back.

"Why are you crying? I'm fine. Or did your husband upset you again? I'll go give him a piece of my mind!"

"No."

Elara's voice was thick with emotion as she shook her head.

"I just feel bad for the old you. But seeing you truly move on now, I'm genuinely happy for you."

Christina felt a wave of warmth in her heart because of Elara's words, even though she was a bit helpless.

"Alright, I know you're happy for me, but there's no need to cry. You're making it so dramatic."

With just one sentence, she managed to break the warm atmosphere.

Elara couldn't help but laugh, then she pounced on Christina on the couch and started tickling her.

"Oh, so you dare ruin the mood? I'm going to punish you!"

"Haha! I was wrong, Elara, I won't do it again..."

"Isn't it a bit late to beg for mercy now? Take this!"

The two of them laughed and played around, not knowing how long they had been at it. It wasn't until the night grew darker outside that they finally tired out, chatted for a bit, and then decided to call it a night.

What they didn't know was that William's car was still parked outside the villa.

He listened as the laughter inside gradually faded, and then saw the lights on the second floor turn on and then off again after a while.

He knew Christina must have fallen asleep by now.

He fiddled with the unlit cigarette in his hand, the tobacco inside already crumbling from his touch, but he never lit it.

Ever since Christina caught him smoking outside her villa last time, William hadn't dared to smoke another cigarette, afraid it would upset her.

In fact, he had never been a smoker.

It was only after Christina left him and he recalled memories from a past life that he had picked up the habit.

That night, he couldn't hold back. Missing Christina so much, he had smoked one cigarette after another.

Now, William sat in his car for a long time. It wasn't until the middle of the night that he sighed softly, tossed the unlit cigarette into the trash, and slowly drove away.

The next morning, Christina got up early to make breakfast for Harper.

Elara was already up, holding Harper's hand as they walked out of the master bedroom.

"Harper, look who's here!"

Elara smiled, ruffling Harper's hair and pointing to the figure busy in the kitchen.

Harper, already dressed but still rubbing her sleepy eyes, looked towards the kitchen. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she rubbed them again.

"Oh my gosh, am I dreaming?"

Harper's mouth hung open, doubting if she was fully awake.

Elara found Harper's expression utterly adorable and couldn't help but laugh softly.

"Why don't you go see for yourself if you're dreaming, Harper?"

Harper nodded, still a bit dazed, and quickly ran towards the kitchen.

Just then, Christina heard the footsteps behind her. She turned around and saw Harper running towards her.

Her heart melted, and she instinctively bent down, squatting to open her arms for Harper.

"Harper, Mommy missed you so much. Good morning!"

It really was Mommy. Mommy's voice was so gentle and sweet!

Harper was overjoyed, leaping into Christina's arms.

"It's really Mommy! I'm not dreaming!"

Harper was ecstatic, planting a kiss on Christina's cheek.

"Mommy, I missed you so much too!"

Feeling the familiar warmth of her mother's embrace, Harper snuggled in, unwilling to let go.

Christina, helpless, picked Harper up, letting her gaze at her with adoration.

"Has Harper been good for Ms. West? No trouble at all?"

"Harper's been very good, not causing any trouble!"

To prove how good she had been, Harper started counting on her fingers.

"Ms. West made vegetable juice into buns, and I ate a lot!"

"And Ms. West taught me how to plant flowers and grass. She even taught me to write. We flew kites and made clay figures together!"

Harper's eyes sparkled as she recounted her time with Elara, clearly having grown fond of her in just five days.

"Harper is amazing!"

Seeing her nod earnestly, Christina felt immense gratitude towards Elara.

But knowing Elara would get upset if she thanked her, Christina kept her gratitude to herself, planning to design a wedding dress for Elara when she had the time.

Elara and Miguel Jimenez had been together for years and were planning to marry at the end of the year.

With less than six months to go, Christina thought she could start designing next month and have it ready in time for the wedding.

As Christina was lost in thought, Harper eagerly pulled her hand, wanting to show her the clay figures she made with Elara.

Elara suggested they have breakfast first, and Harper reluctantly agreed, holding Christina's hand tightly.

After breakfast, with Harper's boundless energy, Christina and Elara decided to have coffee in the backyard while watching Harper play.

"I didn't expect you to have so much energy, taking such good care of Harper. Even I, her mom, feel inadequate."

Seeing the backyard filled with toys and play equipment, Christina knew Elara had put in a lot of effort in just five days.

"Of course, don't you know the West Family's resources?"

Elara proudly lifted her chin, pretending to boast.

"These facilities? A single phone call and they were installed in a day!"

"The most important thing is that Harper enjoys them!"

Christina laughed at Elara's words, then looked at Harper playing in the sandbox, feeling content. If only this moment could last forever.

Little did they know, nearby, Jennifer, now going by Thora, was watching the villa with bloodshot eyes.

She had only been gone for less than half a month, and Harper had not only regained her memory but had completely forgotten about her!

It was as if all the effort and money she had spent to alter Harper's memory had never happened!

Thora had paid a high price for that.
