I can't help but smile at her innocence. Taking her hand in mine, I lead her to the kitchen. Without a word, one of the servants approaches us, offering herself willingly. I guide her on where to bite and for how long, emphasizing the importance of control to avoid harming them. She follows my instructions with precision, her skill evident in the way she feeds without causing harm.

As she finishes, I see a hint of color returning to her cheeks. Turning her towards me, I cup her face in my hands, feeling her lean into my touch. "Nelly, I thought I had lost you forever. I...I love you and wish to spend eternity by your side. Will you be my mate?" My words hang in the air, filled with emotion and longing, as I wait for her response.

Nelly's smile lights up the room as she responds, "I love you too, Vincent, but I have no idea what you mean by 'mate,' but yes."

I can't help but chuckle at her response. She's always full of surprises. "It means we agree to be each other's. No one else. You are my one and only," I explain.

Her eyes widen in shock, and she gasps.

"What? What's wrong?" I ask, concerned.

She hesitates before admitting, "It just hit me that I'm forever frozen like this. Today, I turn twenty-seven."

"Really? We definitely need to celebrate then!" I exclaim, trying to lighten the mood.

A mischievous grin spreads across Nelly's face. "I know the perfect present too. I want Tara as my birthday gift." The excitement in her voice is palpable, and I can't help but be intrigued by what she has in store. I know watching her get her revenge will be a huge turn-on. She was an amazing fighter as a human, and I can only imagine how great she will be as a vampire.

I'm already working on it, my love," I say with determination. I turn to everyone in the room, my voice commanding attention. "I want you all to keep quiet about Nelly. As far as anyone knows, she died. We will bury her tomorrow. Spread the word. If you suspect anyone sympathizing with the Resistance, bring them to me or Alec. Understood?" They nod in agreement and return to their tasks.

Turning to my mate, I express my regret, "I'm sorry, but we will have to bury you tomorrow. I want them to believe you are gone."

She nods understandingly and then surprises me, "I do have another birthday request."

"And what might that be?" I ask, intrigued.

A mischievous grin spreads across her face as she replies, "You." Fuck yes! My heart races with excitement. I am filled with joy knowing that I have the most incredible woman by my side. She is mine, completely and utterly mine! I loved her when she was human, and now I can love her for an eternity!
