Darkness Chapter 59: part 2

He bites his lip, a look of regret in his eyes. "Sorry..." I excuse myself and retreat to the bathroom, turning on the water. The sensation of it cascading down my body is nothing short of exquisite. It eases my mind and washes away the pain, guilt, and fear that had consumed me upon my return to this house. The nagging doubt that he had changed and was no longer the Vincent I knew was swiftly swept down the drain. For he was still the same remarkable man I had married. The man who had captured my heart and rescued me in more ways than one. In that moment, I realized I could never leave him. I was drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Not now...not ever.
When I got out of the shower, I called my brother and told him. “I'm staying.”
Kade chuckled. “I knew you would. You two have a connection. I'm happy, Sis.”
“Thank you,” I replied.
“We're gonna head home to Italy then,” he said.
“Why don't you stay? Become part of our horde. I know she isn't a fan of large groups, but…”
Kade replies, “I'll ask her.” We said that we loved each other and said goodbye. I quickly ended the call and hastily threw on a robe before making my way back to the nursery to check on the situation. As I enter the room, I am stunned to see three grown men frantically jumping around and behaving foolishly in an attempt to soothe my daughter, who is wailing at the top of her lungs. The sight stops me in my tracks, leaving me speechless at the chaotic scene before me.
“Dude, turn her off!” Quinn pleads.
Alec shrugs, “They don't have off switches. Dumb shit.”
“She's probably hungry,” Vincent suggests.
Alec asks, “How would you know?”
Vincent shrugs, “I don't.”
“What are you fools doing?”
“Please get her to stop screaming,” Quinn begs. I walk over to h,er and instantly she stops. “What did you do?”
“She doesn't know you. She just barely knows Vincent, and the only reason she does is that she slept in a crib with his shirt so she could smell him.”
Vincent gasps. “You did that.”
I nod. “Yes. I wanted to make sure when she saw you again she knew who dad was. She needs to go down for a пар.”
“I'll do it,” Vincent offers.
“Ok. Guys, leave or she won't go to sleep. I'll make sure you see her later.”
They nod and leave the room. Vincent lays her down and she instantly falls asleep. He turns and looks at me. “So does this mean you're staying?”
“I don't know. Haven't made up my mind yet.” I have, but I am not going to make it easy on him. I walk to the door, I open it, let my robe fall to the floor, and walk back to our room and wait for him.
I hear the bedroom door close and lock, and his big, strong arms wrap around me. “I love you so fucking much.”
“I love you, too.”
