Darkness Chapter 55: part 2

**Nelly**

What the fuck! I sighed as I unfolded the note. “What does it say?” Kade asks.

“Nel, I won’t touch you unless you beg. I need to see that you are okay, and then I will go. Meet me at the corner cafe in an hour. Please humor me, Q,” I read aloud. 

“Who is Q?” Kade asks.

“Alpha werewolf that doesn't know when to quit flirting. He is an ass, but he is trustworthy,” I explain.

“I can't go with you,” Kade says.

“I know. You don't have the protection from the sun like I do. I will be okay.” I slip on some comfortable shoes and waddle the short distance. I see Quinn sitting at a table near the front door of the cafe. He starts to say something, but I stop him. “You saw me. I am not going back, so don't try anything.”

He sighs. “I won’t tell Vincent that I found you under one condition.”

“What's that?”

"Please, take a seat and listen to what I have to say," I sigh and reluctantly sit down. A waitress approaches to take our order. "Now, while we wait for our drinks, Vincent, read me the note you wrote. You mentioned providing updates and expressing eternal love for him. That doesn't sound like a farewell, does it?" he inquires.

I pinch the bridge of my nose, my gaze fixed on Quinn. "Did I want to leave? Yes and no. I didn't want to go because I love him, but I had to leave because I am not enough." The conflicting emotions tore at my heart, leaving me torn between love and self-doubt.

Quinn puts his hand on mine. “My buddy fucked up. He admitted to both Alec and me that he did. He also admitted that he never loved Bianca as much as he loves you. Why the dumbass couldn't tell you is fucking beyond me.” His snacks and the tea he ordered for me arrived. It does have a soothing taste and smells good. “That tea is what all females due for pups within the week drink. It calms the nerves while giving your muscles extra vitamins for the work they will do, bringing the pups into our world.”

“It tastes pretty good. Thanks.”

"Nelly, we all miss and care for you in our own unique ways. Vincent nearly wasted away searching for you, and Alec and I had to intervene and force-feed him. It was a task I never wish to repeat." He gently taps my ring finger. "I hope you are prepared to face Vincent soon, as some things simply cannot be left unresolved." As we rise, Quinn bends down and plants a kiss on my belly. "Show them what you're made of, little vampy pup." He then presses a kiss to my cheek. "Stay safe. You are missed and loved more than you know." With that, he leaves me to my thoughts. I make my way back to Kade's, a mix of laughter and tears escaping me. Quinn is truly something else, but his loyalty is unwavering. He will give me the space I need to return on my own terms, or so I hope.
