The Abandoned Luna's Journey to Power Chapter 303: Reginald Smiles

4 min 1 views

Cindy's POV:

All of us walked into the main hall together.

The hall was warm and bright. Dross, Selvaryn, Reginald, and Oliver had already been waiting for some time.

The other guild leaders and honored guests who had come to attend the wedding left the Royal Court the very next day. Each of them had responsibilities waiting back home. The fact that they made time to come in person was already a generous gesture.

Jewel understood the situation right away. Since we were about to discuss serious matters, she stepped forward and gently took Astra's hand. "Mr. Astra, let's go build a snowman in the backyard," she said with a smile. "Let Ms. Cindy and Prince Adam talk with the elders."

Astra nodded obediently. He looked at me reluctantly, but he still followed Jewel out.

The hall doors closed, shutting out the cold wind.

Adam and I straightened our clothes and walked to the center of the room. The three elders—Dross, Selvaryn, and Reginald—were seated at the head of the hall.

Adam was a prince. He was also the future king, but he didn't put on airs.

We both bowed at the same time, lowering our heads in a proper student's salute.

"Your student, Cindy," I said clearly. "Your student, Adam," he followed. "We greet you, professor."

This bow was for their teaching. It was for the guidance they had given the two of them. It was also for the help they offered when we were in danger.

A faint, satisfied smile finally appeared on Reginald's ever-stony-cold face.

He was usually strict and cared deeply about rules. But gestures that honored teachers? Those always pleased him the most.

Adam was a prince, but he bowed to them—werewolves of ordinary blood, without noble titles. That alone showed how sincere he was.

"Rise," Dross said, waving his hand gently. His eyes were full of warmth.

We straightened from our bows. Adam did not take his seat. Instead, he strode to the banquet table and lifted the wine flask himself.

He first went to Dross and carefully poured him a glass of wine. "Dean Dross, please have some wine."

Then he poured for Reginald. Then for Selvaryn.

Reginald accepted the chalice and looked at Adam. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly again.

"Twice!" Viola whispered from the side, her eyes wide. "The Reaper smiled twice! This is a world miracle!"

Reginald took a sip and set the chalice down. His sharp eyes locked onto Adam. His tone carried the familiar strictness of a school disciplinarian. "Adam, though you are a prince, since you married Cindy, you are now part of us. This girl has always been a handful. She caused a lot of trouble during her time here. Life ahead may not be peaceful. You must guide her well. Do not let her stir up trouble everywhere."

My lips twitched. I was just about to argue. But Adam spoke first.

He set the wine flask back on the table and straightened, his posture firm and composed. "Professor, there's nothing to worry about," he said evenly. "Cindy is well-taught and clear-minded. She carries herself as a true leader should. She would never stir trouble without reason. And if something truly does happen..."

He paused and took my hand. "... then it must be someone else's fault. Please rest assured. I will protect her."

Reginald narrowed his eyes. His face remained serious, but the displeasure in his gaze was obvious. It was the look of a teacher watching his beloved student get married and the husband boldly defending her right in front of him.

The other seniors stared at Adam with expressions that clearly said, You'd better mean that.

Adam seemed to catch the strain in the room. Adam swiftly turned to Reginald and respectfully nodded. "Professor, as you know, I've recently taken up the post of Chief Justice," he said calmly. "I've been reviewing several matters of law and would value your insight. If you were so kind, might you join me in the study for a private discussion?"

Reginald froze for a moment. Then a spark lit up in his eyes.

He loved the law above all else. After hearing that, he could not stay seated. "Very well. Let's go."

Adam turned back and winked at me, a playful glint in his eyes.

My heart warmed.

He had done it on purpose. He had drawn away the strictest professor, so the rest of us could talk freely and catch up comfortably.
