Cindy's POV

Boom!

My tears burst out instantly.

I rushed to the bed in a few quick steps. I didn't care about the strong smell on her body. I grabbed the hand sticking out from the blanket.

Cold!

Not the kind of cold a living person should have, it felt like holding a block of ice.

"How did she get this sick?" I turned to Katie, my voice shaking with anger and heartbreak. "Even if Leanna suppressed her, even if there were barely any doctors or medicine, how does a high-level Omega turn into a literal skeleton in just a few years? What really happened?!"

Seeing my tears, the anger in Katie's eyes softened a bit, replaced by a look of sorrow.

She walked to the bed, tucked the blanket around Sephiria, and whispered in a voice full of despair, "Because... Prince Niall used a Bond-Breaking Order on her."

"What?!"

I shot to my feet. My head buzzed like something exploded inside it.

Bond-Breaking Order!

I knew exactly what that was.

I was the one who went to the Royal Court and begged King Ryken for a Bond-Breaking Order to personally cut the destined bond with James!

But that was because I was the betrayed one. And James was an Alpha—his mental strength was strong enough.

Even then, the backlash from breaking the bond left James in agony and damaged his wolf spirit.

But Sephiria? She was a weak Omega! She and Prince Niall had been bonded for decades!

"Is he insane?!" I was shaking with rage, my nails digging into my palms. "That's torture—it forcefully cuts a soul bond from one side! Prince Niall is a top-tier Alpha. Using a Bond-Breaking Order on a weak Omega like this is basically tearing her soul to pieces while she's still alive! Why? How could he do this?!"

"Why?" Katie let out a bitter laugh and said the word that sounded completely ridiculous to me. "Jealousy.

"Prince Niall's excuse for using the Bond-Breaking Order was that Lady Sephiria was petty and jealous. He claimed she kept bullying his 'true love,' Ms. Redgrave, and even caused her to have a miscarriage. So, he wanted a divorce and cut this damn bond!"

"Bullshit!" Viola roared, kicking a broken wooden chair to pieces. "Sephiria doesn't even have the strength to get out of bed. How could she hurt that mistress?! Niall obviously just framed her so he could make room for his side-chick!"

"He tortured her like this, and then made her suffer the soul backlash on top of it?" I felt like my blood was running backward. Killing intent leaked out before I could stop it. "Does King Ryken and the Queen not know about this? How could King Ryken approve something so ridiculous?"

"Prince Niall is a prince, King Ryken's brother. The order might not have come from the current King Ryken," Katie said through tears. "And they blocked the news. To the outside world, they said Lady Sephiria was seriously ill and chose to come to the monastery to pray. The pain of breaking the bond tore her wolf spirit to pieces. After that, her health just collapsed until she became like this."

I took a deep breath and forced myself to calm down.

I looked at Katie, remembering how mean she had been at the front gate.

"Ms. Katie," I said, staring straight at her. "If you've suffered this much, you should've been happy to see someone sent by the Queen. Why were you so hostile to us at the door? Why did you try to drive us away?"

Katie stopped wiping her tears.

She looked up at me with a shocked—almost strange—expression.

"Y-you really don't know?"

"Know what?" Viola and I looked at each other.

"Why do you think Prince Niall was in such a rush to break his bond with Lady Sephiria and be single again?" Katie's voice turned sharp and bitter. "Because last year, Prince Niall personally brought expensive gifts to the Silverpeak Pack to ask for your hand, Duchess Spencer!"

"What?!" My eyes widened. My stomach churned, and I suddenly felt like throwing up.

Katie continued, "But before he could officially propose, news came out that you and Prince Adam were together. Once he realized he couldn't have you, he just switched targets! He went south to the Blaze Pack with even bigger gifts, specifically asking to..."

Katie pointed her finger directly at Viola, who was standing right next to me.

"To propose to Knight Silva."
