The Abandoned Luna's Journey to Power Chapter 340: Doesn't Have Much Time Left
Cindy's POV:
Bang!
I couldn't hold it in anymore. I slammed my fist onto the table, and a spiderweb of cracks instantly split the hard oak wood.
"Diana!" I screamed inside my head. "Is this what werewolf family 'love' looks like?! They'll just toss their own mother away like trash for power and money?!"
In my mind, Diana's giant silver wolf spirit paced back and forth, growling low in her throat. "This is betrayal! This is the most disgusting insult to the laws of the pack! Those pups should have their throats torn out! Cindy, I can smell the despair in this room. It's colder than death."
I took a deep breath, forcing my tears back.
"What about the old staff who used to serve Sephiria?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"Leanna moved them all away." Katie gave a bitter smile. "The people 'serving' around the monastery now are Leanna's people. They say they're here to take care of Lady Sephiria, but they're just watching her, waiting for the day she stops breathing so they can report back."
"What about Prince Niall? He's a prince!" Viola said angrily.
"Prince Niall?" Katie acted like she'd just said a curse word. "After Lady Sephiria got seriously sick, he rarely came here. The few times he did, it was only because people outside were gossiping. He came to put on a show. But the moment he walked in, his eyes were full of disgust. His words were cruel, calling Lady Sephiria a jinx, a sick freak. He wants her to die so he can make room for his new wife, Leanna... or whoever the next Luna might be!
"He even used that 'Bond-Breaking Order' on her to speed things up! That is actual soul torture! Ripping away a bond that lasted decades basically destroyed the last bit of life she had left!"
I slumped back into my chair, feeling the blood rushing to my head.
Prince Niall wanted her dead.
He didn't even want to give her basic dignity or kindness. He wanted to use the most cruel method to slowly torture the woman who had stayed by his side through everything.
"Katie." I grabbed the maid's rough hand. "If I send someone riding fast to the Royal Court right now to get Rupert, is there still hope? His medical skills are incredible. He even saved Astra from a super bad injury..."
Katie looked at me, tears rolling down her face like broken beads.
She shook her head in despair. "It's too late. Dr. Rupert had come in secret. He said Lady Sephiria's life force is completely drained, and her wolf spirit was torn apart by the order. She's just counting the days.
"Dr. Rupert left some medicine to keep her alive. He said if she keeps taking it, she might make it through the Moon Goddess Festival. But if she stops, she probably won't last more than a day or two. Even with the best medicine, at most... she'll last till next month."
Buzz!
My mind went blank. My vision blurred with tears almost instantly.
I covered my face, hot tears slipping through my fingers.
Regret clamped onto my heart like a venomous snake.
Why didn't I come sooner?
If I had just taken one day to visit her after returning from Southreach... If I had been smarter the first time the Queen mentioned Sephiria... Maybe I could have taken her away from this hell. Maybe Rupert could have saved her!
But now, it was too late.
I felt a chill deep in my bones.
Sephiria, the gentle Omega I remembered—always smiling and kind, a woman who had done countless good deeds in the kingdom and across her lands—had ended up abandoned by her husband, abandoned by her daughters, and with no family to rely on, left alone to face death.
Even the last shred of dignity she had as a person, as a mother, was being trampled by those closest to her.
