The Abandoned Luna's Journey to Power Chapter 367: A Belated Gift
Cindy's POV:
Prince Noah's and Prince Peter's gazes immediately fell on me.
As commanders in Northmere's army, they were naturally very familiar with Silverpeak Pack, once the dominant power of Northmere. When they looked at me, there was none of the casual appraisal reserved for noble ladies. Instead, their eyes held the scrutiny and respect one warrior gave another.
"Cindy," they both said, giving a slight bow.
Prince Noah stepped forward, his tone carrying sincere apology. "Cindy, when you and Adam held your bonding ceremony, Peter and I were pinned to the Northmere border because of a sudden disturbance. Military orders kept us locked on the front line, and we couldn't make it back. Missing such an important moment in your lives... we truly feel sorry."
"You're too kind, Prince Noah," I replied with a small smile, returning the gesture. "Orders come first, and the safety of the realm matters most. Knowing you were guarding Northmere gave Adam and me peace of mind. As long as the thought was there, it didn't matter whether you were physically present."
After hearing that, the respect in Prince Noah's eyes deepened. He turned and took two finely crafted rosewood boxes from an attendant behind him.
"We couldn't be there, but we prepared gifts ahead of time. Peter and I chose these together as wedding presents. We hope you and Adam will like them."
Prince Noah opened the first, slightly larger box.
Inside lay a pair of goblets made of pure gold, each set with deep red rubies along the sides. The design was elegant and classic, with intricate carvings of wolves chasing the moon etched into the surface. Under the hall's lighting, they reflected a dazzling glow.
"The second one was Peter's idea," Prince Noah said as he opened the longer box.
Inside was a large folded tapestry. When Prince Peter eagerly unfolded it like he was presenting a treasure, I couldn't help but hold my breath.
It was a family tapestry, hand-stitched thread by thread using an extremely rare silk from Northmere's ice plains, woven together with pure silver threads. The base color was a deep night-sky blue. At the center was a massive crescent moon, and beneath it, a silver wolf howling toward the sky.
It was the emblem of Silverpeak Pack.
"Cindy, I heard Silverpeak Castle is being rebuilt." Prince Peter grinned, showing a row of bright white teeth, his smile a little unpolished but genuine. "I figured once the new castle is finished, it needs something that really stands out, like a main banner or tapestry. The silver thread in this was pulled from a mutated frost spider queen that Noah and I hunted deep in the ice fields. It won't burn, it won't tear, and blades can't cut through it."
My eyes warmed instantly. The ruby goblets represented the royal family's wealth and blessings, but this tapestry was something more. It was their recognition of Silverpeak Pack's rebirth. In their own way, they were telling me that Silverpeak's glory had never been forgotten by the kingdom.
"Thank you, Prince Noah, Prince Peter," I said seriously as I accepted the tapestry, my fingers brushing over the cool yet powerful silver threads. "I'll hang this in the main hall of Silverpeak Castle myself."
"I'm glad you like it," Prince Noah said with a smile.
But it wasn't over.
Prince Noah's expression suddenly turned solemn. He dismissed the attendants nearby, then carefully reached inside the inner layer of his armor and took out a small black box, no bigger than his palm. It was made of obsidian and covered in sealing runes.
The moment the box appeared, the air in the hall seemed to freeze.
Diana suddenly rose inside my mind, every strand of her silver fur standing on end. A low, dangerous growl rumbled in her throat. "Cindy... I can smell it. A suffocating stench of death... and something else. Blood. Fate."
I stared at the box, my heart starting to pound uncontrollably.
"Cindy." Prince Noah held the obsidian box with both hands as he walked up to me. "This gift isn't from me. I'm delivering it on behalf of Northmere's commander, Duke Lance."
"Grandpa?!"
The word burst out of me as tears instantly blurred my vision.
