Cindy's POV:

Viola finally fell into a deep sleep, but I still couldn't sleep.

I carefully pulled the blanket over my head, hiding myself in the darkness and warmth.

Only when I was sure Viola couldn't hear me did I finally let my guard down.

The tears came out silently, soaking my pillow within seconds.

I bit the corner of the blanket to stop myself from making any sound, letting the heartbreaking pain spread through my whole body.

Sephiria's bone-thin hand, her hollow, hopeless eyes, and that red blood she coughed up... Everything kept replaying in my mind like a nightmare on loop.

Was this a woman's fate? Was this the tragedy of Omegas, treated like property in front of power and profit?

I felt deep fear and anger.

If I hadn't picked up a sword, if I hadn't broken free from that suffocating bond with James, would Sephiria's today be my tomorrow?

"Don't cry, Cindy."

Diana's soul gently comforted me inside my mind. "You're not like them. You're an Alpha. You're a hunter with a bow. The people trying to control your fate will eventually become your prey."

I took a deep breath and wiped my tears roughly under the blanket.

Yeah. I couldn't just drown in sorrow.

For Sephiria, who was barely holding on. And for Viola, who was trapped in this terrible situation.

I had to get stronger. I had to get colder.

I'd make those powerful nobles, who treated people like bargaining chips, understand something. The blades of the Silverpeak Pack didn't just kill vampires—it could cut their dirty deals too.

The next day would be another tough battle.

Early the next morning, the bells of Coldmoon Monastery rang through the wind and snow.

I barely slept.

Every time I closed my eyes, Sephiria's thin, dying body and the blood she coughed up kept appearing in my mind. I put on my heavy coat and went to her room early.

The fireplace barely kept the room warm. Katie and Carla were holding a basin of warm water, carefully wiping Sephiria's body.

I walked over and took the bowl from Carla.

It was warm milk, and there was a small piece of soft bread torn into tiny pieces on the side.

"Sephiria, it's morning. Try to eat something," I said, sitting on the edge of the bed. I scooped a little milk with a spoon, blew on it gently, and brought it to her dry lips.

Sephiria slowly opened her lifeless eyes. She stared at me for a long time, like she was trying to figure out if I was real.

Then, she actually opened her mouth a little.

I fed her carefully, afraid she might choke.

One spoon, two spoons... Miraculously, she finished everything. She even managed to swallow almost half the soft bread.

"This is amazing!" Carla covered her mouth, crying with joy. "Your Grace, you don't know—this is the most the Lady Sephiria has eaten in two weeks! Usually, she throws up even a sip of water. If it weren't for those life-saving potions Dr. Rupert left to keep her heart going, her body... wouldn't have lasted this long."

Carla wiped her tears, hope showing in her eyes. "I-if Lady Sephiria's children could come see her, even if they just stood by the bed and called her 'Mother'—maybe Lady Sephiria would have something to hope for. Maybe her condition could improve!"

But that tiny spark of hope was instantly crushed by Katie's cold words.

"Carla, stop dreaming," Katie said as she held the basin. Her voice sounded numb and mocking, like she'd seen too much of the cruel world. "Mr. Lucien was sent away to be a patrol guard. He's barely surviving out there. How could he come? As for those two girls..."

Katie let out a cold laugh, her eyes full of disgust. "They've been blinded by the luxury Leanna gives them. Leanna is the lady of the castle now. They're too busy sucking up to her. Why would they risk offending her just to come to this freezing place to visit a divorced mother? They don't care about Lady Sephiria at all. Hoping for them to come is about as likely as the snow falling upward."
