The Alpha's Secret Mate Chapter 11: Breakfast
Mabel's pov
I stood up from my bed, my muscles aching as I stretched. I brushed the sleep from my eyes, and slowly made my way towards the bathroom. I flicked on the light, and squinted as my eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness. I turned on the faucet, the water gushing out of the showerhead. I stepped into the shower, the water instantly warming my skin. I took the soap and started to wash myself, the scent of the soap filling the air. I brushed my teeth, the minty taste tingling my mouth.
I felt refreshed and ready to start the day.
As I exited the bathroom, I noticed something was off. Adam's side of the bed was empty, and the sheets were cold to the touch. A sinking feeling washed over me as I realized he must have left already. I shook off the feeling of disappointment, and turned my attention to getting ready for the day. I opened the closet, and found one of Adam's t-shirts. I pulled it on, the soft fabric against my skin. I grabbed a pair of jeans, and slipped them on. I ran my fingers through my hair.
I stood in front of the mirror, checking my reflection. I suddenly heard the door creak open, and I turned to see who it was. My heart leapt as I saw Adam standing in the doorway, a tray of food in his hands. He smiled at me, and I felt the tension leave my body. "I brought you breakfast," he said, setting the tray down on the nightstand. "I figured you'd be hungry after last night." I felt a blush creep up my cheeks as I remembered the previous night's events.
"Thanks," I said, feeling suddenly shy.
"I thought you've left" I said and he turned to me staring into my eyes
"I wouldn't leave without saying goodbye to my queen," he said with a smile. I felt a rush of emotions course through me at his words. I was grateful, flattered, and embarrassed all at the same time. "Why is your face all red?" he asked, his eyes crinkling with amusement. I stammered for a moment, unable to find the right words. "Umm, I'm just… uh, happy that you're here," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Good," he said, his smile broadening.
"Come sit with me and have some breakfast," he said, pulling out a chair for me. I sat down, feeling a little bit dazed. I wasn't used to such tender treatment, and it left me feeling a little bit off-kilter. "How are you feeling?" he asked, his eyes full of concern. I thought for a moment, trying to find the right words. "I'm okay," I said, my voice sounding a little shaky. "I just need some time to process everything."
He nodded, a look of understanding on his face. "That's completely understandable," he said.
"We're going to the pack's estate today," he said, his tone light and cheerful. My heart lurched at his words, a feeling of panic rising in my chest. I didn't know if I was ready to face all of those people, knowing that they might not accept me. I bit my lip, trying to think of an excuse. "I'm not sure if I'm ready," I said, my voice faltering. "I feel like I'm not really a part of the pack, not yet anyway."
He reached over and took my hand in his. "You are a part of the pack,"
"You are just as much a part of the pack as anyone else," he continued, his eyes never leaving mine. "You may not have your wolf yet, but that doesn't mean you aren't a member of the pack. You have a place here, and you are valued. I want you to know that." I felt the tension in my body start to dissipate, his words calming my nerves. "Thank you," I said, my voice filled with gratitude. "That means a lot to me."
"You're welcome," he said, giving my hand a squeeze.
I couldn't help but feel safe when I was around him. He had a way of making me feel like I was enough, just as I was. I had never felt that way before, and it was a strange and wonderful feeling. I hoped that he would always be by my side, protecting me and making me feel valued. I knew that I needed to tell him how I felt, but I didn't know if I was ready. I decided to take a leap of faith. "I want you to know that I care about you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
I turned to him with a wide smile on my face, I've heard many stories about him from my dad, he always tells us story about how won every battle and how strong he is but I've never heard him say anything about his family
"Do any member of your family live in the pack house" I asked
"Oh, that's a complicated question," he said, his expression darkening. "My parents died in a plane crash when I was just a child. I was raised by my aunt and uncle, who are like my second parents." I could see the sadness in his eyes, and I reached out to take his hand in mine. "I'm so sorry," I said, my heart breaking for him. "That must have been really difficult for you." He nodded, and although he felt hurt, he still managed to keep a straight face
He stood to his feet and took a few steps closer to the mirror, Adam stood in front of the mirror, his eyes staring back at him. A faint smile played across his lips, and I could see a glimmer of pride in his eyes. He spoke, his voice strong and clear. "They all tried to take the throne from me," he said, his hands balled into fists at his sides. "But I'm still here, and I'm stronger than ever." He turned to face me, his eyes filled with determination. "No one will ever take my place as Alpha."
I could see the fire in his eyes, and I was in awe of his strength.
