The Alpha's Secret Mate Chapter 22: The Courtroom
Adam's pov
I woke up slowly, blinking the sleep from my eyes. I looked around the room and realized that I was back in my own bed, in my own room. I sat up and stretched, feeling the stiffness in my muscles. I thought about the events of the last few days, and I knew that I need to send Maybe a message
I got out of bed and went to the bathroom, turning on the shower. I stood under the warm water, letting it wash over me. I took my time, enjoying the feeling of the water on my skin. I lathered my hair with shampoo, and the scent of the soap filled the room. I rinsed the soap out of my hair, and felt the weight of the past few days wash away. I stood there, the water pounding on my back, and I felt like a new person.
I opened the bathroom door and went to my closet. I opened the doors and took a moment to survey my options. I chose a crisp white button-down shirt and a pair of black jeans. I slipped them on and looked in the mirror. I felt a little more like myself, and I was ready to face whatever lay ahead.
After getting ready, I felt a surge of nervous energy. I went to the courtroom, my heart pounding in my chest. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew I had to be strong. I walked down the hall, the click of my heels echoing off the walls. I took a deep breath and tried to center myself. I opened the door to the courtroom and stepped inside. The room was full of people, and I felt their eyes on me.
I pushed open the door and walked into the room, my head held high. I saw six elders sitting in a semi-circle, their faces solemn. I took a deep breath and tried to keep my composure. I looked around the room, and saw the fireplace in the corner, crackling with a warm, comforting fire. I took a seat in the empty chair, feeling the weight of the room bearing down on me. I was ready to face whatever was to come.
As I sat in the room, I knew what the elders were about to say. They wanted me to choose between my position as Alpha and my love for Mabel. I knew that I couldn't have both. I had to make a choice, and I knew it would be the hardest decision of my life. I thought about the responsibilities that came with being Alpha, and the people who depended on me. But I also thought about Mabel, and the life we could have together if I gave up my position. I knew that I had to make a choice, and I wasn't sure which one to make.
I looked at the elders, my heart pounding. "I choose to be Alpha," I said, my voice shaking slightly. "But I also choose to keep Mabel as my mate. I love her, and I can't give her up." The elders looked at me, their faces stern. "You know that is not possible," one of them said, his voice cold. "You must choose one or the other." I looked at him, my resolve wavering. "I can't choose," I said. "She is my everything."
As I turned to leave, one of the elders spoke up. "If you walk out of this room, you will lose your position as Alpha," he said, his voice stern. I stopped in my tracks, my heart pounding in my chest. I turned to face him, my eyes wide. "You can't do that," I said, my voice breaking. "I have a right to choose my own path." The elder shook his head. "You made a vow to the pack when you became Alpha, and you must uphold that vow," he said, his voice resolute.
I stood there, frozen, my heart racing. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't give up Mabel, but I couldn't give up my position as Alpha. I felt torn, my head spinning. I looked at the elders, my eyes pleading. "I can't make this decision," I said, my voice hoarse. "I need more time." The elders looked at each other, their faces impassive. "You have one week," one of them said, his tone final. "After that, you must make a choice."
I left the room, my mind reeling. I had one week to decide between my love and my duty. I knew I couldn't have both, and I didn't know what to do. I walked through the halls of the pack house, lost in my thoughts. I felt like I was in a nightmare, and I couldn't wake up. I walked to the pack grounds, my feet carrying me on autopilot. I sat on a bench, staring at the trees swaying in the wind. I closed my eyes, trying to clear my mind. But it was no use. My thoughts were too chaotic.
I walked down the stairs to the underground garage, my footsteps echoing off the walls. I opened the door to my car, and I sat behind the wheel. I turned the key in the ignition, and the engine roared to life. I put the car in gear, and I pulled out of the garage. I drove aimlessly, not knowing where I was going.
As I drove, the road became narrower and narrower, winding its way through the dense woods. I saw tall trees towering above me, their branches swaying in the breeze. I drove over a rickety bridge, the car bumping over the uneven surface. The road was so narrow, I could barely squeeze by oncoming traffic. I drove around a sharp curve, my heart in my throat. I felt a sense of relief as I saw the cottage come into view. It was a small, cozy place, surrounded by flowers and trees.
