The Alpha's Secret Mate Chapter 25: The Confession 1
Adam's Pov
I was standing by the window, admiring the beautiful view outside. Mabel joined me, and we both gazed out at the landscape in silence. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the fields. We stood there, simply enjoying the moment, without speaking a word. The stillness was broken only by the rustling of leaves in the wind.
As we stood at the window, I could hear the wind rustling through the trees outside. The sun was now low in the sky, painting the landscape with golden light. It was as if time had stopped, and we were suspended in a moment of peace. The quiet was soothing, and I could feel myself relaxing, letting go of the stresses of the day. Mabel's presence was calming, and I was grateful for her company
I turned to Mabel, "Let's make dinner together." I said and a warm smile on her face, and we headed to the kitchen. We began to work, gathering ingredients and tools. The smell of spices filled the air, and the sounds of chopping and stirring filled the room. I felt a sense of contentment as we worked side by side. It was as if we were in our own little world, separate from the rest of the world.
We stood at the stove, cooking together. The warm light from the stove illuminated the kitchen, and the soft sounds of the cooking filled the air. I watched Mabel, admiring her focus and skill. She was absorbed in her work, and I could see the joy she found in the simple task of cooking. As we worked, a sense of peace descended on us. It was as if all the worries and concerns of the day had melted away.
We were surrounded by the familiar smells of spices and herbs. We were quiet, focused on our task. The evening sun streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on the counters. The sound of sizzling filled the air, punctuated by the occasional clink of a knife against the cutting board. The room was warm and comfortable, a haven from the outside world.
As I watched Mabel cook, I knew that I had to tell her the truth. I couldn't keep it from her any longer. I knew that it would be difficult, but I had to do it. I took a deep breath, and then I spoke. "Mabel, there's something I need to tell you." She turned to look at me, her face showing curiosity and concern. "What is it?" she asked. I took another deep breath, "I was asked to chose between you and my position as Alpha" I said
Mabel listened as I told her about my dilemma. She was quiet, her face unreadable. I thought she was going to say something, but she just turned away. Finally, she spoke, her voice steady. "It's okay," she said. "I understand if you have to choose the pack over me." I stared at her, not knowing what to say.
My mind was spinning. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to hurt Mabel, but I also didn't want to give up on my position as the alpha. I took a deep breath and tried to focus. "Mabel," I said, "I don't want to choose between you and the pack. I want to find a way to make both of them happy." She looked at me, her eyes questioning. "How do you plan to do that?" she asked.
"I'm trying to understand," she said, her voice wavering. "But it's hard for me to hear that you have to choose between me and your position. I thought I was important to you." I felt a lump in my throat. I didn't want her to feel this way. "You are important to me," I said, my voice barely a whisper. "More important than anything else." She looked at me, her eyes searching mine. "But you have to choose," she said, her voice breaking.
I looked at her, at a loss for words. I wanted to tell her that I would find a way to make everything work out. But I couldn't make any promises. The situation was out of my control. "I'm so sorry," I said, the words sounding inadequate. "I wish I could fix this." She took a step towards me and put her hand on my arm. "It's not your fault," she said, her voice gentle. "It's just a difficult situation." I felt a wave of relief, knowing that she wasn't angry with me.
Mabel's eyes were full of tears, and I could see the pain she was trying to hide. "I'm sorry," I said, my voice full of emotion. "I know this is hard for you." She looked away, and I could see her fighting back tears. "It's not your fault," she said, her voice trembling. "I just wish things were different." I stepped closer to her and put my arms around her. "I wish that too," I said, holding her close. "But we can't change the past. We can only move forward."
"I know that you think you bring bad luck," I said, my voice soft. "But that's not true. You can't control the circumstances of your life, and it's not your fault that you haven't seen your wolf yet." She looked up at me, her eyes full of doubt. "But I feel like I'm a burden," she said, her voice full of sadness. "I know you don't mean to be," I said, my voice full of compassion. "But I don't want to be a burden to you. I want to be someone you can count on."
"I understand why you feel that way," I said, my heart breaking for her. "But you're not a burden. And the fact that you haven't seen your wolf yet doesn't mean that you won't. It's just a matter of time. And it's not your fault that your family rejected you. You didn't do anything wrong." She looked at me, her eyes shining with tears. "You really believe that?" she asked, her voice full of hope. "I do," I said, my voice firm. "I believe in you, and I believe in your future. You'll find your way."
