The Lunar Queen Chapter 100

Cole POV

When I get to my office the guys are all there.

The atmosphere in the room is noticeably heavier than last night. Nobody is joking now. Not even Elias.

The moment I step through the door “What did you find out?” I ask Dominic.

“Alpha Silas said his mate was from a pack in the Northern kingdom and her mother called and told her 4 wolves from her pack went missing. Vanished into thin air, no trace” he says.

A cold feeling settles low in my stomach immediately.

“Why didn’t their Alpha tell Tobias?” I ask.

“Apparently they did but with there being no trace there isn’t much he can do” He replies.

I just nod my head in agreement. No bodies. No scents. No signs of struggle. Just gone. It’s starting to sound too familiar.

“What else?” I ask.

“There have been reports of dead Fae bodies outside of the edge of the veil for the Fae kingdom” he says. “Also multiple covens have gone into hiding because there have been witches going missing in the past weeks” he adds.

The room goes dead silent after that.

“What the hell is going on?” Hunter asks.

Even he sounds unsettled now.

“Not too sure, but I’m starting to think whatever is happening has something to do with Dark Valley I just don’t know how” I reply.

At first it felt isolated. A missing pack. Now it’s starting to sound like something spreading through every supernatural territory.

“The two pups that showed up at the border a while ago are from The Burning Sands Pack in the Western kingdom” I say.

“What are they doing here?” Dominic asks.

“Their parents were bringing them here, they were running from someone. The younger pup Hannah has her wolf already so she may be a gifted wolf” I say.

The second I mention her being gifted the tension in the room shifts again.

“The oldest Ezra said their mother said to find the lady who’s hair is on fire” I say.

Elias frowns slightly “Lyric.”

I nod. And somehow that bothers me more than I want to admit. Why specifically my mate? Why send gifted pups across kingdoms looking for her?

“So why run to the East and why not go to your own leaders for help?” Jace asks.

“Exactly. The Western King has closed himself off from the other three kingdoms as well as his own so they probably didn’t trust him to help” I respond.

Saying it out loud makes the situation feel even stranger.

“Do we know what gifts she has?” Hunter asks.

I shake my head “Not yet but I’m sure Lyric will figure it out” I say.

If Hannah really is gifted, my mate will probably know before anyone else. Lyric always seems to sense things other wolves miss.

“How are you two by the way?” Hunter asks.

I sigh heavy “We aren’t completely fixed but we are better than we were yesterday and we are talking so there’s that” I say.

The tension in my chest eases slightly just thinking about waking up beside her this morning.

He nods his head in understanding but doesn’t press the issue.

I appreciate that more than he probably realizes.

“Dominic I need you to send a messenger to the Western and Southern kingdoms in regards to the supernatural council we are trying to establish, as well as the Fae King, James, each coven of witches, and the Vampire King as soon as possible” I say.

If something is targeting supernatural beings across kingdoms, we can’t keep handling things separately anymore.

“Lyric and I will take a trip to Dark Valley in a few days to see if we can find out what happened there” I say.

And deep down I already know whatever we find there is going to change everything.

“Do you think that the Fae King will come after his people were killed in wolf territory?” Hunter asks.

“I don’t know but if word is really spreading about Lyric then he may come just to see if the rumors are true” I say.

The idea alone makes the room tense again.

“Okay so let’s think about this for a second aside from Dark Valley at least that we are aware of everything happening had one thing in common” Hunter says.

Magic.

“They all have some type of gift or ability” I say more to myself than to Hunter.

The realization settles heavily in my chest the second the words leave my mouth.

“Exactly” he says.

“But if these instances are all related then why isn’t there more panic about it” Logan says.

“We just put it together but to others it just looks like isolated incidents, the Northern kingdom doesn’t rule with us in mind and the Fae kingdom is located in the mountains of Switzerland right at the edge of wolf territory they wouldn’t know about wolves in the West or witches in the East and Dark Valley is still unknown” I say.

The farther I talk through it the more dangerous the entire situation starts sounding.

I pause letting them take that in.

“However now that we are aware people may know about Lyric and who she is, we need to tighten patrol especially with people fleeing their packs in other kingdoms in search of her for refuge to protect their pups” I say.

Because if desperate parents are already crossing kingdoms looking for my mate, then rumors about her are spreading faster than we realized.

“what are you going to do about the pups?” Dominic asks.

If I know my mate she had already had the Omegas set up a room for them in our suite.

Honestly I would be more shocked if she hadn’t.

“Right now I just want to focus on making them feel comfortable and make sure they are both okay, Hannah trusts Lyric and Ezra trusts his sister so he’s trusting Lyric. I know Lyric will find out what happened and then we will go from there” I say.

The second Hannah saw Lyric she relaxed like she’d finally reached safety and I can’t ignore that feeling in my gut telling me those pups were specifically searching for her.

“Mate can you come up to our room please” Lyric links me.

Amusement immediately pushes through the heaviness weighing on me.

I smile to myself because I know what this is. “She just linked me to come to our room, I'm sure to say they are staying with us” I say to them and they all laugh.

Even in the middle of possible kingdom-wide danger my mate somehow still collects people like abandoned puppies.

“Lyric has always had people drawn to her, even as a pup. I know we weren’t there how we should have been but I saw moments” Hunter says.

I nod. He’s right. Even before she became Queen wolves naturally gravitated toward her. Trusted her. Followed her.

“Dominic make the letters and send the messengers, I need them there quickly so have Tabitha teleport them. The council forming is crucial if we are all in danger” I say to Dom.

What started as an idea for peace is quickly turning into a necessity for survival.

“Elias, Hunter patrol needs to be tight I don’t want any surprises and let’s look into building that wall around the entire territory” I say to them.

If this threat spreads to our pack I want every possible layer of protection around my family.

“Jace, Logan because Winter is out and Juliet is no longer the gamma female. I need you and your mates to look for anything that may have been posted on the wolf web about things like this happening, it’s a long shot but let’s be hopeful” I say turning and walking out.

The closer I get to the door the more restless Zeus becomes in my head.

If all of this is magic related then my family is more at risk than anyone and I will not let anything happen to them again.

“Everybody who even tries will die a slow and agonizing death” Zeus snarls in my head.

The rage in his voice sends a dangerous calm through me because he’s right.

David was the last person who will ever put my mate or pups lives in danger.

The next person who tries won’t live long enough to regret it.
