The Lunar Queen Chapter 55
David POV
It’s been 3 days since I sent Cole my message. I’ve already destroyed two of the packs under his rule. They were small but they all matter to him and the way that his kingdom runs. And that’s exactly why I chose them—small enough to fall fast, important enough to make him feel it.
Axel told me his son fled to the royal pack with half of his people. That is bad because it means less help when it comes time to attack the next pack. Less chaos. Less bodies. My jaw tightens slightly at the thought, irritation flickering under my control.
I know Cole isn’t going to hand over his marked pregnant mate.
Which is fine because I have a plan to take her.
Lyric.
Her green eyes have haunted my sleep since that day I tried to take her. The way they looked at me—defiant, unafraid—like I wasn’t something to fear. Like I wasn’t inevitable. My fingers curl slightly against the armrest. That will change.
Soon my love. Soon you will be mine.
We will raise those pups together and be the most powerful rulers of the entire supernatural world. Hell I might even try to rule the humans. Why stop when everything is within reach?
A knock at my office door pulls me frim my thoughts. Jonathan walks in and closes the door behind him.
“is the witch here yet?” I ask as he sits down.
“not yet, but one of our informants tell us the bear prince brought Lyric a witch to help with her magic” he says.
“shit. If she learns how to use her magic before we can take her that will make it even harder” I say. My tone stays even, but irritation coils tighter in my chest.
“Agora will be here soon, she can give us something to block her magic and powers” I say.
“how’s that other thing?” I ask
“they’re making moves as if they are planning something” he says
“I know she wasn’t being completely honest, if she thinks she can betray me she will learn” I say a slow smile pulling at my lips, cold and controlled.
Just as his eyes glaze over with a link.
“Agora is here” he says.
I smile. Finally.
Good now we can talk about me finally getting Lyric in my hands.
A knock sounds at the door.
“come in” i say and a guard walks in with Agora.
“hello Alpha” she says.
“hello Agora do we have any updates with Serena and her task?” I ask
“not yet but I do have something to temporarily block her magic so we can take her” she says
“what about Cole, he needs to be distracted” I say
“I have an infatuation potion that Serena will blow in his face that last 2 hours, which should give you enough time to snatch the girl” she says
“has the council found the runes?” she asks
“no they haven’t” I say. The lie leaves my mouth smoothly, my expression not shifting even slightly as I watch her reaction.
Truth is the council for the runes 2 days ago. I’m just waiting for my queen.
“We are running out of time, everyday the pregnancy progresses the chances of us being successful are smaller” she says
“she has the bear prince on her side and he brought her a witch” I say
There.
Her face flashes with fear. Quick. Controlled. But I saw it—the flicker, the hesitation, the breath she didn’t finish.
She tries to mask it but I saw it. I will store that information for later.
“that is not good sir if she learns to use her witch powers she will be even harder to get” she says
“I know that, is why I need that magic blocker. I have my men ready to infiltrate the royal pack, my people inside are ready to help facilitate that” I say
She hands me a pink powdery substance in 3 vials.
“this is enough to hold her for a few weeks, blow a little in her face and make sure she inhales it and it will block her magic and her connection to her wolf, you only need a little bit” she says
Then she hands me a large jar with a yellowish liquid in it.
“this needs to be injected into her mark it will suppress her bond making it harder for Cole to find her” she says
“good, this is perfect” I say
“what about the cloaking spell?” I ask
“I have already cast it, aside from me and the members you have here, nobody will be able to find this place, on the outside it is an empty area” she says
“Perfect, good job Agora, you have proven yourself to be helpful” I say
“thank you alpha” she says
“I will reach out to Serena and see her progress on her task” she says standing to leave.
“yes do that and be in touch Cole has his warning and he has a little over a week to bring her to me” I say
“I already have my next target, so get ready to move if he doesn’t deliver” I say
:of course alpha” she says as Jonathan shows her out.
I look at the vials she gave me and smile.
My thumb drags slowly over the glass, watching the powder shift inside, imagining it on her skin, in her lungs, stripping her power away piece by piece.
I’m getting closer to having her and the power I need to move forward with my plan.
I know the witch is hiding something and I will find out what it is.
When Jonathan returns to the office
“I sent two scouts to follow her” he says
“The shadows?” I ask
“yes alpha” he says
I smile “Good, they won’t be detected and can get me the information I need” I say
“did you see her face when I brought up the witch?” I ask
“fear, she reeked of it” he says
“Whatever she is planning can’t happen if Lyric learns to use her magic, so now we really need to get her” I say
“fuck I forgot to ask about the memory potion” I say
“I will visit her shop for you” I say
“good, I need that to get what I want” I say
“go meet het at her shop and get that potion, I need her in my possession soon especially now that we have found the runes” I say
He stands to leave.
“oh and tell Frances we need to meet as soon as possible” I say
“yes alpha” he says walking out the door.
After the door closes I sit in the back in my chair and close my eyes.
I’m so close to having her, and those pups.
The thought sends heat straight through me, possessive and dark, my jaw tightening as I exhale slowly.
Those green eyes looking at me how they look at him.
Soon.
Agora POV
The moment I leave the rogue territory my fear spikes.
Not controlled. Not masked. Real. Sharp enough to make my pulse stutter for half a second.
I tried to mask it as much as I could in his office but her learning magic is bad for me.
Castiel’s bloodline is more powerful than any line that ever existed and combine that with her being a direct descendant of Selene she is going to be unstoppable.
Her children will be even more powerful.
The first born is my biggest fear. That one… that one will be something no one can control.
He will hold the power of every bloodline and the other two will only inherit one.
I need those children alive and her. I need that power.
I stop at my coven before returning to my shop.
When I walk into my altar my daughter Seraphina is there working on a spell.
“hello mother what are you doing here?” she says.
“I need to speak with Ingrid and Agnes about the prophecy” I say.
“I thought you found the girl?” she asks
“we did, but without the faction magic being unlocked and activated by her blood finding her means nothing” I say my tone tightening slightly despite myself.
“they are in the meeting room” she says
I turn and head towards meeting room and she follows behind me.
When I step into the room both witches straighten.
“Agora we weren’t expecting you back so soon” Agnes says
“well I discovered some new information about the girl” I say
They both sit up at that.
“she had found a witch” I say
“the bear prince has found her also” I say
“does she know of the rest of the prophecy involving the children?” Ingrid asks
“I’m not sure but if the bear prince has joined her it is only a matter of time before she does” I say
“how much time do we have?” Agnes asks
“not much” I say my fingers curling slightly at my sides.
“the council still hasn’t found the runes, how are you two doing in finding it?” I ask
“not good, we have come up empty handed” ingrid says
“Keep looking, David gave the king two weeks to turn her over before he makes his next move, you have until then to tell me something, we need to find it before him” I say
“okay we will get the entire coven on it” Ingrid says
“good and make sure he doesn’t get wind of this, if he finds out I am working against him he will kill us all” I say my voice dropping low, edged with real warning.
When I get back to the shop Jonathan is waiting outside leaning against the wall.
“what took you so long Agora?” he asks.
I freeze. Just for a second. Too still. Too aware.
Why is he here.
“beta, what can I do for you?” I ask
“my alpha needs a memory potion for Lyric” he says tapping the door.
“oh of course I have just the thing, come in” I say unlocking the door to my shop.
He stops in the doorway with the door open and doesn’t move.
Watching. Measuring. Not trusting.
Smart move.
He watches my every movement like a hawk. I find the memory potion and hand it to him.
“this will work, it wears off after a month and will need to be given again” I say to him.
“good, keep us posted on Serena” he says before turning and walkinh out leaving the door open.
He doesn’t trust me.
I need to be more careful, if they find out my coven is actually working against them all of my planning will be for nothing.
I need that potion I gave Serena to do it’s job.
It wont kill her babies, it will magically speed up her pregnancy.
Force time forward. Force the future to come before she’s ready.
Giving me the opportunity to take the children even if I can’t get her, their blood will unlock the magic also.
Time is running out.
David thinks he’s in control.
The council thinks they’re playing both sides.
The girl thinks she still has time to learn.
Im so close and I didn’t do all of this for nothing.
Because the moment her power fully awakens, the balance shifts in a way none of them understand yet—not David, not the council, not even the girl herself—and if I don’t move before that happens, then everything they think they’re fighting for, every throne, every alliance, every war they are preparing for, will become meaningless the second those children are born and claim a power that no one will be able to control.
