The Lunar Queen Chapter 89

Cole POV

The next morning I’m woken up by Elise jumping in my bed.

“Ellie what are you doing in here?” I ask pulling her into my arms.

“I miss Lyric and your bed smells like her” She replies.

That tightens something in my chest instantly.

I crack one eye open and look at her.

“We are going to bring her home today, but I have to go now, you can stay in here if you want. Okay?” I say.

She nods and snuggles further into the bed.

For a second I just stand there looking at her curled up in our bed and it hits me all over again how empty this palace has felt without Lyric in it.

I walk in the bathroom and take a quick shower before heading down to the main dining room.

Dominic walks over to me as I walk inside.

“Daniella says the witch is back in the shop and they are ready to move” He says.

I nod.

“Did Tabitha give them the potion?” I ask.

“Yes, I had Felix deliver it to them before sunrise” He responds.

“Good.”

No hesitation now. No more waiting.

“Good morning everyone today we bring our Queen home and we end this, if you are ready to go gather outside the palace we leave in 10 minutes” I say walking over to where Jace and Logan are sitting with Hunter and Lucas.

“Are you four joining us?” I ask.

Hunter nods his head.

“We are definitely coming” Hunter says.

“Where is Micah?” I ask.

“He’s in the cells with Mason, we have all been taking turns sitting down there with him until he is released” Hunter answers.

“Good, he needs a friend and tell my parents he can be released after we leave” I say to them.

Ten minutes later everyone is gathered outside the palace waiting for instruction.

Jonathan steps out and everyone growls at him.

“Stand down, he is not our enemy he is the one that was helping the Queen and who will help us bring her home” I say and everything goes silent before they all take a knee for him.

His eyes widen slightly at that like he still isn’t used to people choosing him.

He looks at me in shock.

“Why are they kneeling?” he asks me

“They are giving you their respect for helping to protect their Queen” I say to him smiling as I clap his back once.

“Now let’s go get our mates back” I say.

I face my wolves, my people who are fighting by my side to bring my mate home.

Every face staring back at me is waiting for one thing. Her.

“When we get to the settlement we will wait for the enforcers to deal with the witch and then we attack. Everybody grab a scent blocker, we will be cloaked by magic until the moment of attack, Jonathan said if our Queen and his mate’s plan worked all of the rogues who are not a threat have already been moved and a lot of what you may see is an illusion. So we must rely on scents heavily” I announce to them

“So everyone is a kill on sight?” Hunter asks

“Yes, kill on sight. Whoever finds the Queen first get her out immediately and find Tabitha she will be waiting for her, David is to be left alive, engage and link me. He is mine” I say.

The second those words leave my mouth Zeus pushes hard inside me, hungry for him already.

“Also there are two rogues who will be there but are helping the Queen, Joshua and Henry. They will most likely be found close to her unless David is using one of them to replace me” Jonathan says

“Okay, we need descriptions kid, we’re not going to be asking names in wolf form” Alpha Orion says.

He nods.

“Right. Sorry Joshua is tall and olive skin, he has a scar across his right eye, he is the only one with it, it’s visible in his wolf form also, and Henry is a short built wolf with blonde hair and his wolf is a golden color” He says.

“Good now let’s go” I say walking and grabbing a scent blocker off the table, I swallow the contents and shift into Zeus.

The shift is swift and Zeus comes forward with me as we run through everyone to lead the way.

The closer we get the harder he pushes. Restless. Violent. Impatient.

Running through the forest watching the trees blur past as I get closer to getting my mate back.

My excitement is blending with Zeus’s restlessness and it’s making me anxious, she’s so close I can almost smell her beautiful honeysuckle scent.

Every mile feels too fucking slow.

When we are a few miles out we stop.

“Dominic give Daniela the green light to engage” I link Dom.

Tabitha created a potion that will render all magic inside her shop useless for 6 hours which is more than enough time for them to do their job.

15 minutes later buildings and structures start appearing in the distance.

“Oh shit that was cool” Jace says

“Focus Gamma” I say

“Yes Alpha” he replies.

I turn to Tabitha.

“Move a few miles back and start setting up to help anyone that may need it and especially her” I say to her.

Especially her.

“I will, and bring her home safely Cole” she says before I shift back and we run the rest of the way except for Elias and Logan.

They ride on another wolf and we stop just outside their makeshift border they release explosive arrows straight into the air.

One lands on a small building right by where we are standing and the other lands on the ground and then Elias lets another arrow go and it hits the top of the tallest structure they have.

“Now” I yell over the link and everyone crosses their borders just as rogues start coming out of the buildings around us and the main house.

I don’t see David which means he is probably somewhere with Lyric.

The thought alone nearly makes Zeus rip forward completely.

I don’t hesitate in snapping the neck of the first rogue who approaches me.

He has accumulated more rogues than I thought.

They start pouring out of the buildings in clusters.

Two run towards me as I make my way towards that house in the center, I can feel her in there.

The scrawny one of the two charges at me head on and I just swipe my paw at him and it sends him flying.

The other jumps on my back and Jonathan comes out of nowhere and tackles him off me and tears his throat out.

“Follow me” he links me and we run to the left of the house.

Fights are going on around us but my wolves are taking the rogues out easier than the bears.

These rogues are weak and have no training.

“No wonder he needed the bears and the witch,” I think as another rogue drops under Tobias’s jaws.

“Where are we going?” I ask him

“To Lyric” he says just as I hear her screams come from my right and Zeus takes over and is off in that direction.

Everything around me disappears after that.

The fighting.

The blood.

The wolves.

All I hear is her.

We end up at a tunnel and I hear her voice echo.

“No, no they weren’t supposed to come now” she cries as another scream rips out of her.

Fear slams into me so hard my chest actually hurts.

I shift instantly into my human form and I run into the tunnel.

I don’t even get ten steps before I see her, Lydia and Seraphina and a young she-wolf.

Her head snaps up and she locks eyes with me before she breaks down crying.

That sight almost drops me to my knees.

I run to her and crouch down in front of her.

“Princess I missed you so much” I say tears streaming down my own face as I kiss her over and over.

She screams again.

“Cole the pups are coming now, we have to go but I can’t walk through the tunnel it’s too far” she says.

I scoop her up into my arms and carry her back out of the tunnel.

The second she’s against my chest Zeus settles for the first time in weeks.

I look back at Lydia.

“We will talk when this is over” I say to her and she nods.

When we step out of the tunnel chaos is still going on around us but the bodies of the rogues are piling up and many of them are surrendering.

Hunter and Jace run up to us.

“Lyric” Hunter yells.

I hand her to him.

“Get her to Tabitha the pups are coming now” I say to him.

She grabs my hand.

“Wait where are you going?, I can’t do this without you” She cries.

That almost breaks me.

“I’m going to find David” I say to her.

Her eyes glow purple. “Cole Blackwood if you don’t get your ass over here now and go with me to bring your pups into this world I will cut your dick off” she snarls at me.

Hunter and Jace laugh as Hunter hands her back.

Relief hits me so hard my knees almost give out. She’s screaming at me, threatening me, glaring at me like she wants to kill me herself and somehow that feels better than anything else because it means she’s still her. Still mine.

“Find Tobias and Dominic and search for David” I say to them as I walk through the chaos with the girls.

A black wolf with a scar across it’s eyes runs up to us.

“Joshua I presume?” I ask.

He nods his head.

“I’m walking out, she needs to get to my triage now” I say.

He huffs and leads us out of the settlement.

The camp is complete chaos around us. Wolves snarling. Rogues screaming. Fire spreading across buildings. The scent of blood is so thick it coats the back of my throat and through all of it my focus stays locked on the female shaking in my arms. Every few seconds another contraction tears through her body and every sound she makes feels like claws ripping into my chest.

The moment Lyric sees Tabitha “Oh fuck you are real” she says.

“Wait you know her?” I ask Tabitha.

“Not really but we have met in our dreams a few times” She says.

“I thought you were just a figment of my imagination but the eyes they look like mines when I do magic so I thought you were me, you never gave me a name” Lyric says before screaming again.

Her nails dig into my arm so hard I know she’s drawing blood through my shirt but I don’t even feel it. All I can focus on is the panic building inside me because she’s in pain and there’s nothing I can do except keep holding her together.

“Okay we need to lay you down now” she says as we go into the tent and she and Lydia get to work.

“Lydia you actually became a doctor?” I ask her.

She glares at me “Yes I did Cole” she says.

“Well you disappeared and nobody heard from you” I say.

“Can we have this conversation when I don’t have three pups fighting to get out of my body please” Lyric snaps.

Under any other circumstance I would laugh. Right now I can barely breathe watching her fold in pain right in front of me.

The moment she lays on the table and Lydia checks her she goes wide.

“Lyric baby A is already crowning he doesn’t want to wait, push on the next contraction” she says to Lyric.

My heart nearly stops. It happens too fast. One second we’re running through a battlefield and the next my sons are already coming into the world.

I walk over and take her hand and kiss her forehead.

“You got here just in time, I thought I would have to do this by myself” she says voice cracking.

That sentence tears straight through me because she really believed that. Believed she might bring our pups into this world alone while trapped with that psychopath.

“I am here princess and I’m not going anywhere” I say kissing the tears falling down her cheeks.

She screams and Lydia yells “One big push Lyric”.

She screams as she pushes and my heir is out with a pop.

His cries fill the tent and howls can be heard outside.

The sound punches the air right out of my lungs. My son. My fucking son. For a second everything outside this tent disappears. The rogues. David. The blood. None of it matters because my heir is here and he’s alive.

Tabitha hands him to an Omega and she moves to clean him up.

She doesn’t get a chance to breathe before another contraction hits her.

“Push Lyric” Lydia says as she braces for baby B.

“I see the head, give me one more big push, you are doing so well” Lydia says.

Lyric’s hand squeezes mine so tight my bones grind together but she never lets go. She’s exhausted, covered in sweat, trembling and still fighting through every second of it. Pride swells so violently in my chest it almost hurts.

On the next contraction she pushes and as soon as our second born slides out.

“It’s a boy” Tabitha says handing him to the Omega.

Another howl sounds outside the tent and Zeus practically preens in my head. Two heirs. Two healthy boys.

“Last one Lyric you are almost there” Lydia says.

Tears stream down her face, hair wild and covered in sweat and she is still the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

She looks completely wrecked and somehow it makes me love her even harder because every ounce of pain she’s enduring right now is for our family.

“You’re almost done princess” I say kissing her softly.

“I hate you and I never want to do this again” She cries to me.

Zeus laughs in my head and I just smile at her.

“Okay my Queen” I say.

She glares at me and I smile again.

As another wave of contractions hit her she screams in pain.

“Push” Lydia coaches.

She pushes and I see red curls.

My breath catches instantly. Our daughter.

“Push” Lydia says and she pushes and her head is out.

“One more” Lydia assures her.

Lyric falls back onto the bed.

“Last one baby you can do it” I say soothingly to her.

She shakes her head. “No Cole I’m tired, I can’t do this anymore” she cries.

Fear crawls up my spine so fast it almost chokes me because for the first time since getting her back she sounds truly defeated.

I cup her cheeks.

“I know princess and after you bring our princess into the world you can rest she’s almost here. One more” I say.

“Now” Lydia shouts and she sits up and gives one big push screaming as she does and the loudest shriek or cry fills the air.

The second I hear her cry something inside me completely caves in. Daughter. I have a daughter.

“Our princess has some lungs on her” Zeus chuckles in my head.

Lyric collapses and her eyes glow purple as Nova pushes forward.

“I will deliver the afterbirth” Nova says.

“Okay Nova it’s already ready, just give me one push” Lydia says.

Once the afterbirth is out Nova gives control back to Lyric and she falls back on the bed.

“Can I see my pups?” She asks.

There’s something so soft in her voice it nearly destroys me because after everything she’s been through the first thing she wants is them.

Lydia smiles “Of course Luna” she says as I pick up my princess and Tabitha and Lydia each grab a boy.

Our first born looks just like me with Lyric’s green eyes.

She takes him in her arms.

“Hello Zachariah” She says and she looks at me and I agree.

The name settles over the tent like it was always meant to belong to him.

Tabitha hands her our second born.

He has caramel skin like Lyric with my blue eyes.

She kisses his forehead.

“Hello Adonis” she says.

Then I hand over our little princess and she is the spitting image of Lyric down to the green eyes.

“Hello my little green eyed beauty, you my princess will be Eloise” She says smiling at her and she smiles back.

That tiny smile damn near drops me to my knees.

Tabitha has tears in her eyes.

“If my dad was alive he would be honored to have your first born named after him” she says.

Before anybody can say anything else a blinding white light covers the whole tent and when it clears Selene is standing there.

Every hair on my body stands instantly. Power slams into the tent so heavily the air itself feels different.

I hear a gasp and I’m reminded that Seraphina and the young she-wolf are still here.

“Omg it’s Selene” The young she-wolf says.

Selene smiles at her “Hello my child” she says.

Then she looks at Lyric.

“Your mate killing his council the day you were taken changed the timeline I saw” She says.

The atmosphere shifts immediately. The warmth from moments ago disappears so fast it leaves tension crawling across my skin.

“That vision I had of him happened?” she asks softly looking at me and holds out her hand.

I don’t move.

For a second I can’t breathe. I know exactly which vision she means and I know what she’s about to see. Blood. Bodies. Me covered in it.

“Please I need to see” she says to me.

I bend down and she places her hand on my temple and closes her eyes.

They snap open and are glowing purple.

Tears start falling from her eyes.

“I didn’t want that to come true, I didn’t want that for you” She says.

Guilt twists violently in my chest because she’s crying over monsters who helped take her from me while I would slaughter every single one of them all over again if it meant getting her back.

I wipe her tears with my thumbs.

“I will kill anyone to find you, to get you back, for you and now for them” I say softly to her.

“You are mine to protect, they played a part in your kidnapping they all paid for it with their lives” I say to her.

“Your fight is over my child” Selene says and Lyric glares at her.

“I don’t like the riddles, my fight is over but theirs isn’t” Lyric says.

Even exhausted and seconds after giving birth she’s still pushing back against a goddess. That’s my mate.

“Your children are special more so than my great granddaughter here” she says pointing to Tabitha.

“Special how?” I ask.

My stomach tightens immediately because nothing good has ever followed that word for our family.

“Your oldest will be just as powerful as you Lyric, he will be able to do everything you can and has a wolf. Your second born will be the anchor between the living and the dead. He will be a witch and a wolf but he will be able to guide wolves back to me when they die, he has the power to speak to spirits that have already returned home, and little Eloise, she will be a seer and a wolf, she can see the past, present and future. She will be able to see multiple versions of the future. She will be the most powerful seer to ever walk this realm” she says.

Silence fills the tent after that. Heavy. Suffocating. My eyes move over my pups and for the first time since they were born fear mixes into the overwhelming love already consuming me.

My mate breaks down crying.

“They will always be watched and hunted, what kind of life is that for pups?” she yells at Selene.

The panic in her voice tears through me because she’s already thinking ten years ahead. Twenty. Every threat. Every monster that could come for them.

She smiles.

“Don’t worry my child they will know peace, they will know love and live and yes they will be watched and hunted when the news spread about them but you will be able to keep them safe. Trust yourself and your powers and use your cousin she is a very talented witch and very powerful” she says.

“Congratulations on keeping David from destroying the supernatural world” she says.

“You have one more obstacle before you can enjoy your pups” she says voice filled with sorrow.

The second she says it the entire tent goes tense again. Even Zeus goes quiet.

“Good luck my children” she says before vanishing.

“What the fuck does that mean?, what else could I possibly go through” Lyric shouts.

Her voice cracks at the end and I know she’s reached her limit. Kidnapped. Tortured. Forced to give birth in the middle of a war. Now a goddess appears talking about more obstacles.

I sit on the bed and hold her in my arms.

“We will get through it together” I say.

Because at this point I don’t care if Selene herself stands in our way. Nobody is taking another thing from me.

“Alpha we have David, and all the rogues who are not dead have surrendered and we have located the cabin the rest of the rogues were being hidden in” Dominic links me.

Good.

Satisfaction settles cold in my chest instantly. David’s alive. Which means he gets to suffer first.

“Perfect Lyric had the pups and I will be out in a minute” I link back.

I smooth her hair out of her face.

“Princess I need to go deal with the rogues, Tabitha and the rest of these ladies will be here with you and our pups” I say gently.

She nods.

“Okay my king, that is Rhea, I have taken her in as my sister she has no family” She says.

I smile.

“Okay princess anything you want. I will be back” I say kissing her deeply and Tabitha clears her throat.

“What I haven’t seen my mate in weeks” Lyric says glaring.

A laugh almost leaves me because somehow after everything that just happened she still finds room to be jealous and possessive.

I turn to Seraphina.

“He is alive and safe, somewhere out there” I say.

She smiles and nods.

“Thank you Alpha” she says bowing.

Tabitha unseals the tent and I step outside and the chaos has finally come to a stop.

The settlement looks like a graveyard now. Smoke rolling through the air. Bodies everywhere. Blood soaking into the dirt.

Tobias walks over to me.

“You did good cousin, ready to see your captive?” he asks smiling wickedly.

I grin.

Every ounce of softness from inside that tent disappears the closer I get to David.

“Most definitely” I say as he leads me to where David is.

Dominic has him kneeled with silver shackles in front of his main house.

Even on his knees he’s smirking and the sight alone nearly brings Zeus to the surface.

We won and now the fun part is making him suffer for everything he has done.

Because death is too merciful for males like him. And before this day ends, David is going to understand exactly what happens when you touch what belongs to me.
