After stepping out of the council chambers, a surge of certainty hits me—tonight, my vision is about to become reality. Not a possibility. Not a warning. A certainty.

“Talk to me, princess,” Cole whispers as we stride toward my office. Though my hair is freshly done, I still need to get dressed—so does Cole, along with everyone else.

When we reach my office, Mason and Hunter are waiting outside. Cole stiffens at the sight of Mason. I feel it instantly through the bond—sharp, territorial, dangerous.

“It’s okay, my love, I’m yours,” I whisper, linking our minds.

“I know. I just don’t like the way he’s looking at you,” Cole responds, concern tight in his voice.

“I’m hoping to fix that, my love,” I reply.

He leans down, pressing his face into the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply. Grounding himself. Holding on.

“Soon, you’ll officially be my queen and Luna,” he murmurs into my skin, igniting a fire within me.

“Yes, my love, but I’m already yours,” I reply softly, kissing him before heading into my office.

“Hey, guys, let’s go inside,” I suggest, and together we walk in.

The moment the door closes, Mason’s voice cuts through.

“What did you do to me?” Mason demands.

No greeting. No pause. Just that. He’s been holding onto it this whole time.

“Well, hello to you, too, Mason,” I retort, already weary of this conversation.

He shakes his head and draws a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Sunny. How are you? I’m sorry about your parents.”

“I’m better now. Anyway, I took your love for me and changed your memories of us,” I reply, soft but direct.

No point dragging it out. No point pretending.

“Why?” His voice cracks with emotion.

“Because, Mason, you weren’t planning to let me go, and Cole was going to kill you,” I snap.

His body stiffens.

“But nothing changed—you’re still obsessing over me and neglecting your mate,” I press.

I don’t soften it. He needs to hear it exactly like that.

His body tenses at the mention of Aria.

“What do you need from me, Mason? What can help you?” I ask.

“I want them back,” he whispers.

That desperation… it’s real. And dangerous.

“Do you understand what that means?” I challenge.

He shakes his head. “No, but it feels like I’m missing a piece of myself. I know what that’s like—like I’m not whole,” he admits.

And that hits. Because I do know what that feels like.

“Mason, you have to let me go. I don’t want you to die, and I don’t want to see Aria hurt—she’s pregnant and needs you,” I urge.

“I know, Sunny. I know what’s at stake. I love my mate. I just need to be whole again. You’re part of my past, and I don’t want to erase that. You mattered,” he says.

I stiffen at his words, despite having moved on. Because that part of me… it’s not gone. It’s just buried.

I love Mason, and I understand how he feels. I’ve just managed to move past those feelings.

I step closer, embracing him. He stiffens briefly but then relaxes into the hug.

That hesitation—that split second—that’s everything we used to be.

“Bend down,” I instruct.

He leans down, guiding my hands to cup his cheeks. I close my eyes, reversing my earlier actions, feeling tears spill down his face when I finish.

“I’m so sorry, Sunny,” he whispers, dropping to his knees.

I shake my head. “Don’t apologize to me. Apologize to your mate—she’s hurting,” I reply, gazing into his eyes.

“Mason, please promise me you’ll let me go. I love you too, and I probably always will, but I’ll always choose my mate and our pups,” I insist.

“I promise,” he whispers.

I hold his gaze a second longer—making sure he means it.

I softly kiss his forehead. “Now go—I need to get ready,” I say to him and Hunter.

“Do you think that will work?” Hunter asks, hugging me tightly.

“I don’t know, but I hope so. If not, Cole will kill him,” I reply grimly.

And that’s not a threat. That’s a fact.

“Only time will tell. See you out there, sis,” Hunter says as he and Mason walk out.

I sit on the couch, trying to steady my nerves. But they won’t steady. They keep building.

I haven’t seen Serena since she accelerated my pregnancy and with her father’s strange behavior, I can’t help but wonder what they’re up to.

And that worries me more than anything. Silence from enemies is never a good sign.

A knock pulls me from my thoughts. “Come in,” I call out.

Winter and Iris step inside.

“Are we ready to get dressed?” Winter asks.

“Yeah, I’m ready,” I respond.

Ready or not… it’s happening.

“Nervous?” Iris probes.

“Absolutely,” I admit honestly.

More than I’ve ever been.

“Good, because this is major—you’re about to become Luna of the largest pack and Queen to over 40 packs,” she emphasizes.

“Thanks, sis,” I say flatly.

“I don’t mean it like that. It just means you care—if you’re nervous about stepping into the role,” she explains.

I head into the bathroom where my dress hangs, slipping into it. The cool fabric brushes against my skin. Grounding me just enough to breathe.

Sitting on the bench, I slip on my heels.

When I step out, Winter exclaims, “Yes, girl, you look amazing!”

I add, “We all do—you two look stunning.”

Winter responds with a grin, “But you’re giving off Queen energy—like you’re already owning this,” wiping her eyes.

“This is what you were born for—everything with Summer was just leading up to this moment,” she says.

Iris nods, “I love that you own your scars.”

I admit, “They’re part of my story. I’m glad they didn’t heal when I got Nova.”

Because they remind me exactly who I am—and what I survived.

Winter checks her watch. “Let’s head down—it’s almost 5.”

She hooks her arms through mine and Iris’s.

“I’m grateful to have my sisters for this moment,” I say.

“We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Winter agrees.

“Yeah, we got a late start, but I wouldn’t miss this for anything,” Iris adds.

I smile through tears, “I love you guys.”

“We love you too, sis. Don’t cry—or I will,” Winter warns as we approach the ballroom.

And as those doors get closer… that dread comes back stronger. Louder.
