The Lunar Queen Chapter 92

Lyric POV

I lay on his body crying as I feel the anger building in me.

It crawls through my veins hot and violent until I can barely breathe around it. My chest feels split open. My mate is dead. My mate is dead because of him.

I stand slowly eyes glowing purple.

“You killed him” Nova and I say together.

“Lyric” I hear someone say.

“Silence” we say.

The entire room goes dead quiet instantly. Even the air feels heavy with magic.

I walk over to him.

“Sunny now we can be together” He says weakly.

The words make something inside me snap completely.

I lift him in the air by his throat.

“we are not yours, We will never be yours. We will never be with you. He was my mate and you killed him” we snarl at him.

He claws at his throat choking as tears stream down his face.

“I did it for us” he gasps out.

Rage explodes through me so violently the windows crack around the room.

Before I can even think about my next move I snap his neck and I drop with his body and scream out.

“Why?” I scream.

“Why couldn’t you just let me go” I cry.

His body hits the floor lifeless and instead of relief all I feel is grief.

I hear Aria scream somewhere along with his parents.

Winter runs into the room and sees Cole first then me kneeled at Mason’s body.

“He killed him” I say softly.

I look up at her tears streaming down my face.

“He killed him” I say again.

Everybody runs into the room.

“I’m sorry Winnie, but, but he killed him” I say crawling back over to Cole’s body on the floor.

“Please come back to me” I cry.

“Selene!” I scream.

“Selene!” I scream again continuously trying to heal him.

She appears in a burst of light.

“Bring him back” I snap at her.

She looks at Mason’s dead body behind me and smiles sadly.

She looks to Aria standing in the doorway.

I turn to her.

“Ari he killed Cole, I’m so sorry. He killed my mate. He.. he killed him” I cry out.

Aria, Winter, Iris and Tabitha all drop to their knees and hold me.

“It’s okay Lyric we don’t blame you, I don’t blame you” Aria says.

That somehow makes me cry harder because she should hate me right now and she doesn’t.

Cole’s body disappears.

“NOOOO!” I scream voice hoarse.

“Give him back to me” I say crying into their arms.

I’m so wrapped in my grief I don’t hear the gasps but I feel the sparks shoot down my arm.

I spin so fast he has to catch me.

“Cole” I scream and jump into his arms.

The second his scent hits me my knees nearly give out. Alive. He’s alive.

“It’s okay princess I’m here” he says soothingly.

I cling to him like if I let go he’ll disappear again.

Selene turns to Luna Ava and Alpha Liam.

“I’m sorry about Mason but he didn’t handle the rejection the way I thought he would, I didn’t expect him to break from losing her. I thought Aria would help him, but he ignored her and neglected her and became obsessed with getting Lyric back. This was the only outcome” She says solemnly.

They both nod their heads in understanding.

Luna Ava looks completely shattered but she still walks toward me first instead of Mason’s body and guilt tears through me.

“We are sorry Lyric that you had to do that” Alpha Liam says.

Cole puts me down and I walk into his arms.

“I loved him and I didn’t want him to die, I just wanted him to be happy for me and be happy with Aria” I cry into his chest.

“it is okay Sunny, we are not mad at you. Mason made his choices” Alpha Liam says.

“We love you sweet girl” Luna Ava says crying.

“Please somebody be mad at me for killing him” I cry.

Winter lets out an emotional laugh.

“Lyric we all have watched Mason spiral over the last month, none of us are mad. Cole almost killed him two days ago” Winter says.

I notice Joshua standing in the doorway staring at Aria.

His wolf is so close to the surface his eyes keep flashing.

“Joshua come” I say and he walks into the room.

Aria’s head shoots up.

“Mate” They both say together.

The bond slams into the room instantly.

Joshua looks at her like she’s something precious and Aria starts crying before he even touches her.

“wait” I say and walk over to Aria.

I take her hands in mine and I heal the hurt and pain and loneliness she harbored from Mason.

Dark energy slips out of her body in waves until her shoulders finally relax for what feels like the first time in months.

“Now you are ready to be loved by him, you and my nephew” I say in her ear.

She cries softly.

“Thank you Lyric” She says.

I step back and wipe her tears.

“We are family and I will always protect you Aria, I’m sorry Mason couldn’t let go” I say.

Then I smile at her.

“Joshua is amazing and he will love you and that pup unconditionally” I say to her.

Joshua walks over slowly like he’s scared to frighten her.

The second he touches her hand his entire body relaxes. Like he finally found peace.

Then I move to the side and back to Cole.

“Dominic get someone from the hospital to gather Mason’s body so that his parents can take him home and send him off properly” Cole says.

“Lyric if it is okay with you, we would like to meet the pups” Luna Ava says.

I smile.

“Of course you guys can meet them, you two were more my parents than my actual parents growing up” I say to them.

Luna Ava breaks down crying at that and pulls me into another hug.

I turn to Selene.

“Are we done for now?” I ask.

She smiles at me.

“Yes my child you are done for now, rest enjoy your pups, enjoy your family and we will see each other soon” she says before disappearing.

I slap Cole’s arm.

“Never do that to me again” I snap at him.

He smiles that beautiful smile I love.

“I’m sorry love. When he stabbed me Selene whispered to me that I wasn’t dying, but she needed you to be the one to close the Mason chapter because you wouldn’t have let anyone kill him” he says.

And I know he is right.

If I had known Cole wasn’t really gone, I would have never killed Mason. Even after everything, I still didn’t want his blood on my hands.

I loved Mason and I would have stopped anyone who tried to take his life.

I didn’t even want to kill him but he gave me no choice in that moment.

“I know, I didn’t want him to die” I say.

“I know princess” he says.

He cups my face with both hands.

“That is why nobody is upset with you” He says gently.

Luna Ava, Alpha Liam and Winter walk over to his body and they have a moment as a family.

Luna Ava finally breaks down after trying to be strong.

Her scream when she touches Mason’s face makes tears burn my eyes all over again.

I step out of the room and Luna Leah is waiting for me when I step out.

“oh my sweet girl I'm sorry you had to do that” she says to me.

I just want to be with my pups and my mate.

“I just want to go upstairs and have some time with my mate and my pups” I say to her.

“Of course sweetheart I will have a servant bring you up some food” She says.

“Thank you mom” I say as Cole scoops me up in his arms.

“You always need to carry me” I say glaring at him.

He smiles at me.

“I love carrying you” he says.

His heartbeat against my chest instantly calms something broken inside me.

When we get to the room Elise and Rhea are in the nursery with the pups.

“Hey ladies you guys can go now” I say smiling.

They both pout.

“you can come back later” I say to them and Elise smiles.

“Ellie how about you show Rhea to her room, it’s going to be right next to yours” I say.

She jumps up and down.

“Yay, come on Rhea” Elise shouts dragging her out of the room.

Once the door closes the mask drops and everything I have been holding in since the day I was taken comes rushing out all at once.

The fear. The loneliness. The guilt. Mason. David. Almost losing Cole. It crashes into me so hard I can’t stay standing.

Cole catches me before I drop and holds me in his arms as he walks to the couch.

“let it out princess, I got you” He whispers in my ear.

He rubs my back softly as I cry into his chest.

Not quiet tears. Ugly painful sobs that shake my whole body.

Eventually my cries turn into sniffles just as a knock sounds at the door.

Cole doesn’t put me down and walks to the door with me in his arms.

He opens the door and a servant rolls in a cart.

“Hello your majesties, the former Queen sent me with food as well as a pump so the Luna can begin preparing bottles for the pups and their feedings” She says.

I smile.

“Your mom thinks of everything” I say laughing.

“Thank you Farrah” I say to her and she looks at me surprised.

“I’m learning everyone’s name” I say and she smiles.

“You are welcome my Queen” she says before walking out.

Cole helps me set up the pumps on my breasts before we sit down to eat.

“Talk to me princess” He says.

“I’m happy to be home, although he didn’t touch me except once, being pregnant and away from you it was a lot. I just want to finally put everything behind me” I say to him.

Cole’s jaw tightens at the mention of David touching me.

A dangerous look flashes across his face before he forces himself to calm down for me.

“well now we can, I’m sorry about Mason my love. I know how you felt about him” he says gently.

I look at him.

“I really love you, you are so perfect” I say.

He chuckles.

“I’m not perfect but I will try to be as perfect as I can be for you and our pups” he says.

“I know my king and I love you for that, you have been perfect since I met you” I say.

We both sit in the silence for a moment while we eat our food.

One of the pups start crying and before we know it all three pups are crying.

I unhook my breasts and I put a top on the two bottles and I hand one of them to Cole.

We walk into the nursery and I pick up Zachariah and Adonis and I sit in the rocking chair.

Cole helps me with getting both of them to latch on and he picks up Eloise and starts feeding her with the bottle.

“thank you so much princess, they are perfect” he says.

I smile looking down at my two sons and looking at my mate holding our daughter.

For the first time in weeks there’s no fear sitting in my chest. No cage. No pretending. No running. Just us.

Everything we have been through led to this and I wouldn’t change anything to have this moment with my family. After everything we lost, everything we survived, somehow we still found our way back to each other.

Cole looks over at me holding Eloise against his chest while our boys sleep in my arms, and the look in his eyes nearly breaks me all over again.

Peace.

Real peace.

The kind I thought we would never get to have.

He walks over and kisses my forehead softly. “We made it princess” he whispers.

I look down at our babies and then back at my mate.

And for the first time since this all began—

I finally believe him.
