The Lunar Queen Chapter 77
Lyric POV
The next morning, Rhea brings me my breakfast, and she comes in with a woman that reminds me of Mary. She walks in and bows low.
“Good morning, my Queen, my name is Agnes. I am the head Omega here,” she says.
“My little Rhea has told me about your problem. The Alpha told me it was supplements for your pregnancy, and I would like to apologize,” she says, voice low, neck bared.
“Rhea, please help me stand,” I say, my body slower than I want it to be, that heavy pull still sitting in my limbs. She walks over to help me up.
I walk over to Agnes and hug her.
“It is not your fault. You were doing what you were told,” I say to her.
“My sister is part of Moonveil Pack, and she said you are a beautiful girl who had a hard life. I didn’t know you were who we were preparing food for,” she says.
My brows furrow. “Who is your sister?” I ask.
She smiles. “Her name is Mary. I believe she works in the kitchen also,” she says.
“That name lands heavier than I expect. That is why you reminded me of her when you walked in,” I say, smiling. “Mary was like a second mom to me… well, actually a third,” I say, smiling, thinking about our Luna.
“For a second, I almost forget where I am. Almost.”
“So why are you here instead of in Moonveil with her?” I ask.
She smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “My daughter is mated to the Alpha, and my mate and I were part of The Black Moon Pack before they destroyed it. My mate was killed, but I couldn’t leave my daughter,” she says.
The tears fall immediately.
“I’m so sorry about your mate… and your daughter, since he obviously hasn’t accepted their bond,” I say.
“He just uses her for sex, my Queen,” she says, her own tears falling now.
My jaw tightens before I can stop it. That familiar heat creeps up—slow, controlled, dangerous.
I grab her hands in mine, determination in my voice.
“I will get you back to your sister, and I will save your daughter from her own mate,” I say.
Not a promise I think about. One I decide.
She nods her head. “Thank you, my Queen. I will see to it that none of that stuff the Alpha gave us goes into your food. I was already not putting the yellow liquid because it didn’t look like something for the pups,” she says.
“I think that was the memory potion,” I say.
She brings her hands to her mouth. “Oh dear goddess, I’m so happy I went with my gut,” she says.
I smile at her. “So am I,” I say.
Because that one choice? That might’ve been the only thing he hasn’t taken from me.
“The Alpha said he will be coming to visit you today and that I can take you outside before then,” Rhea says.
My stomach drops, but my face doesn’t move. Not even a little.
“Is there a doctor here?” I ask.
They both look at each other.
“Yes, we have a doctor, but she is terrified of the Alpha,” Agnes says.
I nod, thinking.
“Terrified works. Terrified listens. That is fine, I can work with that. I need you to take me to her 10 minutes into our walk, Rhea,” I say.
“I need to try to get her to trust me and tell David that my body is too weak for anything. I need to keep him from touching me as long as I can,” I say.
The words sit wrong in my throat—but I don’t let them slow me down.
“I can help you with that,” Agnes says.
“Now eat, you need all the energy you can get,” she adds.
I sit on the bed and eat.
No hesitation. No pause. Just enough to keep moving.
I hope that whatever Cole is planning happens soon because I don’t know if we will be able to pull this off on our own.
“I will go and talk to the doctor and some of the other rogues to gather as much support as you may need, because some of us were forced into this rogue settlement and others are too afraid to leave,” Agnes says.
“Thank you, and I promise all of you will have a place to call home after this,” I say to her.
And I mean every word.
“Thank you, my Queen,” she says before walking out of the room.
“I will let you eat and then get ready, and I will come back to get you soon,” Rhea says before walking out as well.
The door shuts, and the room goes quiet again. Too quiet. The kind that presses in if you let it. I don’t.
I don’t know how much time passes, but not too long after, Jonathan and Seraphina walk into the room.
“Hey Lyric, how are you feeling today?” Seraphina asks when the door closes behind them.
“I’m doing good. I have been making friends to help make this escape easier. I also got Agnes to make sure my food isn’t being spiked anymore,” I say.
I say it like it’s simple. It’s not.
“We are running out of time and we need to start planning. I did some recon yesterday on my walk. There aren’t many guards patrolling the area. Also, the back of the house is basically a dead zone,” I say.
“Most of the guards stay with David, and those that are around the settlement don’t do much since the spell went up,” Jonathan says.
I nod slowly.
“Have you spoken to Cole again, Seraphina?” I ask.
His name hits the same every time. Sharp. Immediate.
She shakes her head. “Not yet, but I will be making the journey to the palace tonight to speak with him,” she says.
Tonight feels too far away and too close at the same time.
“What is the hole in the back?” I ask.
“It was for tunnels in the event we were found before the attack,” Jonathan says.
“Can that be a possible escape route?” I ask.
“It can, but with the pups being so close and you being so big, I don’t think that is wise,” he says.
I don’t react. I already knew that. That’s the problem.
“But if we can make it easier for you to get into the tunnel, it may work. It leads to the center of the unclaimed territory. If we can get Cole to meet us there, we may have a chance,” he adds.
“Okay… and what other options do we have?” I ask.
“If we can get the guards that patrol the grounds on your side and make sure they are not on board with David and his plans, then we may be able to get you out through the back of the settlement,” Seraphina says.
“A lot of the rogues here do not agree with David. We just need the right moments to speak with them,” Jonathan says.
“He has his loyal members, but there are not many. Most are just too afraid to leave because being a rogue and on your own isn’t easy,” he adds.
“Today I will try to put my plan to keep him from touching me into motion. That will give me more freedom to move around. We need to get him out more often if we want this to work,” I say.
I say it steady, like it doesn’t cost me anything. It does.
“I will handle that,” Jonathan says.
A knock sounds at the door, and they both freeze.
Instant stillness. No panic. Just control.
“My Queen, are you ready?” Rhea says through the door.
“Come in, Rhea,” I say.
When she opens the door and sees Jonathan and Seraphina, she freezes.
“Should I come back?” she asks.
“No, come. We are just discussing potential plans,” I say.
“Okay, well Alpha says you have an hour,” she says.
An hour. That’s all I get. That’s enough.
I smile. “Good. That is all I need,” I say, moving to stand.
My body drags for half a second—I push through it like it didn’t happen.
She grabs my hand, and we walk out of the room and out the house.
I guide Rhea straight to the back of the house toward the hole and stop as if I’m looking at the garden.
I don’t look at it directly. I don’t need to. I already mapped it.
A rogue who looks to be around my age approaches us.
“Hello, Luna, how are you today?” he asks.
I smile. “Tired and pregnant,” I say, laughing.
Easy. Light. Nothing to question.
He laughs.
“Luna, this is Joshua, he is a warrior,” Rhea says.
“Nice to meet you, Joshua. Have you always been a rogue?” I ask him.
“No, I came here with Agnes and Ivana from Black Moon,” he says.
“Good, so we can be friends,” I say, letting my body sway just enough to sell it. Not too much. Not yet.
“I feel very faint,” I say.
I put my hand to my head and sway more before falling over.
I let my weight go completely. No catching myself. No hesitation. Full drop.
“Omg Luna, Josh pick her up we have to take her to the clinic,” Rhea says, panicked.
Voices rise. Movement speeds up. Attention shifts exactly where I need it.
Part one of the plan in motion.
And for the first time since I got here—something moves because I made it move.
I will not be a victim, and I will not let this captivity be the end of me.
I am a Queen, Eloise reborn—
and if they want weak, I’ll give them weak—right up until I break this place open from the inside.
