Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 40

“You mean other than Alpha Conrad for killing his family, no.” I said to him.  

“He couldn’t possibly be stupid enough to go after you knowing you’re my mate. Well, you were my mate.” he said but saying that last part more to himself.  

“Grief can make people do some stupid things. I’m sure that he isn’t thinking clearly losing his mate and daughter.” 

“For his sake, I suggest he get any thoughts of revenge out of his mind. I’m not letting anyone hurt you or anyone else in my pack. There’s one more thing we need to take care of as well. Give me your hand.”  

I look at him with a confused expression for a few seconds while he opens his drawer and pulls out a dagger. What the hell is he doing? I ask myself, but then I realize what he is up to when he slices the palm of his right hand. Giving him my left hand, I feel the tingles when we touch as he turns my palm using his left hand to slice it with the same knife. It stings for a second and he presses his bleeding palm against mine and intertwines our fingers. Instantly I feel a connection, but it’s muffled.  

“Repeat after me. I, Tiyanna Silver, vow to uphold the laws and regulations of the Black Diamond pack, to respect its members from the Alpha to the omegas, and promise to protect this pack from enemies within as well as on the outside of this pack even if it costs me my life.” 

“I, Tiyanna Silver, vow to uphold the laws and regulations of the Black Diamond pack, to respect its members from the Alpha to the Omegas, and I promise to protect this pack from enemies within as well as on the outside of this pack even if it costs me my life.” I repeat and immediately after, the muffled noise stops and is now replaced by the voices of the Black Diamond pack members.  

I can’t help but smile as I think of the fact that I’m finally a part of a real pack. Nobody is abusing me, I have friends in Caroline and Sierra, the Luna isn’t jealous of me and I’m not being treated as a servant. There were a few challenges of course with my mate not wanting me and his bimbo starting fights, but all in all I’m alright with being here. This rogue attack today is the only thing that kind of shook me, but I’m not scared for myself. Putting people in danger that I’ve come to care about in only a short period of time is not something that sits well with me. Rejecting my mate wasn’t something I thought that I’d do, but felt was necessary, yet he showed up to help save me and even became possessive when Talon was holding me roughly. Is there a chance that he could possibly like me even a little bit? I ask myself. 

Looking up at him, I can see him staring back at me with a look that I can’t recognize, but I do know the expression isn’t the usual disgust or annoyance he usually displays towards me. He really is very handsome and looks great when he smiles. I wish I was the one that made him smile, but that’s usually reserved for his mother and sister and a very few others. I just wish he wanted me. He said that he has reasons to not wanting a mate and I don’t know what those are, but how does he know that I won’t be good for him if he doesn’t give me a try? While I’m thinking all these thoughts inside my head, I see his expression changes to something that looks more like shock and then guilt before he goes back to his regular stoic face. He just stares at me so I finally get annoyed and asked him why he’s just staring at me and his answer shocks me. 

“I’m going to have to teach you to guard your thoughts because I just heard everything you were thinking just now.” he says to me. 

“Holy shit!” 

“Once you get the hang of the mind link it’ll be very easy to control. You can even practice blocking by talking to your wolf. If you’re uncomfortable with me helping you, then I’m sure my mother or Caroline would be happy to help.” he says to me in a gentle voice for once. 

“Cameron, why is it that I can still feel the tingles and get possessive and protective over you when I’ve already rejected you?” i blurt out. Quickly I cover my mouth and take off running from the room.  

“Stupid, stupid, stupid. What the hell possessed me to ask him that? It isn’t like he’d care enough to tell me the answer. I’m going to go check on Caroline at the hospital and then go back to my room to shower and change for dinner.” I say to myself as I walk down the hall leading to the front of the pack house. 

“Yeah, I heard she almost got the female Beta killed.” said one woman before I get to the end of the hall. 

“That’s awful. I heard that the Alpha and Beta almost didn’t get to them in time.” says another woman. 

“That’s what he gets for bringing that trash into our pack. I mean Trinity is a whore but at least she never put any of us in danger.” said the first woman. 

I turned to try and find another way to get to the pack hospital and run straight into a solid wall of muscle. When I start to stumble, he grabs ahold of my arms to steady me. Once I’m standing upright and he isn’t afraid I’ll fall, he lets go of me and walks to the end of the hallway towards the women. 

“So, is this what you do all day? Standing around gossiping about someone that saved your Alpha’s sister and helped to protect your female Beta is a new past time for you? Since you have so much time on your hands, how about I give you something to do. The both of you will cook and clean every floor of the pack house and only the two of you. I will make sure that the omegas know they are not to help you or else they’ll face their own punishment. This place better be spotless or else you’ll do it until you get it right. By the time you finish, maybe your tongues will be too tired to wag making false assumptions and spreading lies.” he says in an angry and authoritative tone. 

“Damn! Mate is sexy when he takes charge don’t you agree human?.” says my wolf. 

“For once I do agree with you, though he’s sexy when he isn’t too.” I say back to her. 

When I look up, I see him smiling at me before he turns and walks away. 

“Silver, I think he heard our thoughts again.” I say shaking my head.
