Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 42
After washing my hair and my body, I step out and wrap myself in a big fluffy towel and wrapping another around my hair. Stepping into my bedroom, a scream escapes my lips as I see someone sitting on my bed.
“Cameron! What the hell are you doing here?” I asked him while pulling the towel tighter around myself. He smirks at me as he gets up and walks until he is standing right in front of me.
“Do you remember the last time you were in a towel in front of me?” He continues to smirk as my cheeks burn from the blush I know is coming. I take a step back as I remember what almost happened that night.
“Yes, Alpha Cameron, I remember. For both our sakes, I think it best that we never bring it up again though.” I walk around him and head to my vanity table unwrapping the towel from my hair and combing out the tangles. “What can I help you with?” I ask.
“I didn’t want you to misunderstand what happened in the dining hall. There’s nothing going on between me and Trinity, but I needed to use her to make him think I had cast you aside as my mate. After what happened to you at the mall weeks ago, and him suddenly wanting to have a meeting with me, I can’t let them believe that I kept you as my mate. I was hoping that he’d be gone before you
finished training but that didn’t happen.”
“Do you think that he had something to do with the attack?”
“I’m not sure, but he is hiding something. He didn’t straight up lie to me but there were lies in his statements.” he said.
“What does that mean?”
“It usually means that someone is trying to mix more truths than lies so that I can’t pick up on the lies.” He chuckles. “It never works, but nice watching them try. Anyway, I just wanted you to know what’s going on and now I’ll be going. Have fun tonight.” he says before heading to the door and stopping he turns to look at me. I wait for him to say something but he opens his mouth and nothing come out. I watch him walk out of the room and close the door behind him.
“Thank you for telling me there’s nothing going on between you two, but you still don’t want me.” I turn back to face the mirror when I hear a faint voice.
“I do want you, but I can’t be with you Tiyanna and you shouldn’t want to be with me.” Then the voice fades and I feel something wet on my cheek. Looking into the mirror I realize that tears are coming down my face.
The next day I practically had to drag myself out of bed from staying up all night with the girls. We laughed and watched movies while talking. Caroline told us that Talon has become even more protective since the attack and then somehow the questions turned to how I was doing with the whole mate thing between Cameron and I. All I could do was shrug and tell them that I was dealing with things just fine. It is hard being around him sometimes, but for the most part I’m fine. He does his own thing and I do mine. As long as neither of us breaks the rules we should have no problems co-existing here. I mean it isn’t like I need to go to him for money so our interactions are minimal. Some of the girls looked at me with pity in their eyes which is what I didn’t need. We all went to our rooms around three in the morning so now I’m dragging and will be late for training if I don’t get a move on soon.
Quickly, I take a shower and change into my training clothes before running downstairs to grab some yogurt, an apple, and orange juice. When I’m done eating, I go looking for Sierra but when I don’t find her, I just assume that she has already made it to the training grounds. Making my way there, I look around at the scenery and feel a sense of calm come over me. I love being outside and the feeling of the wind on my skin and blowing through my hair.
Stopping in the middle of the field that leads into the training ground area, I close my eyes and soak up some of the sun with my face to the sky. Suddenly, I feel hands circle my waist, and I automatically elbow the person in the stomach and turn punching them in the nose. Blood sprays everywhere and I take a step back getting into a defense position. When I see who the person is, that is now screaming in pain, my temper flares even more.
“How dare you touch me? Mark, what are you doing here and why couldn’t I smell you?” I start rattling off questions. Heavy footsteps are running in our direction and I pick up on the scents of Caroline, Talon, and Cameron. This is the last thing I need to deal with right now.
“What is going on here?” Cameron asks in an authoritative voice.
“This bitch hit me for no reason.” shouts Mark through the pain.
“That’s not true. I hit you for a very good reason and you know it asshole.” I shout back.
“Quiet both of you! Now, what exactly happened?” He looks at Mark then me. Before I can explain, Mark starts talking.
“I was coming up behind her to ask her if she could show me the way to the training grounds and the crazy bitch hit me.” he says and I want to hit him again. My wolf growls low.
“Tiyanna, is that the way it happened?” he asks still in Alpha mode.
“No, it isn’t. Actually, he did come up behind me, but that’s the only truth that he told. He walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist and when I felt the arms I just automatically elbowed him and turned and punched him in the face. I didn’t know who it was until I saw him. Me attacking him was just a reaction to someone touching me and I didn’t smell them ahead of time, not that I would have done any differently had I smelled him.” I say the last part with all the venom I can muster.
