Betrayed and Claimed by the Lycan King Chapter 190
Ezra's POV
"I swear Orion, your sister will be the death of me!" I clenched my jaw as we walked, barely containing the fury coursing through my veins.
Orion's face paled. "What happened now?"
"Can you imagine she dragged your father into this?" I felt my eyes flash gold momentarily, my control slipping despite my best efforts.
"She did?" Orion said, his voice hollow with disbelief.
"She absolutely did." I ran a hand through my hair, frustration radiating from every pore. "She told him about the pregnancy."
As we approached my Silver Moon Tower, employees and security personnel bowed deeply, greeting us with respectful "Good morning, Alpha" and "Good morning, Mr. Silverwood." I barely acknowledged them with a curt nod, my mind consumed by the brewing disaster that Evanthe had created.
Inside the private elevator ascending to the executive floor, I leaned against the wall, suddenly feeling the weight of exhaustion.
"Your father called me this morning," I said, watching the floor numbers climb. "Said we need to talk."
"Shit." Orion rubbed his temples. "My sister is so goddamn stubborn."
"Tell me something I don't know."
"My father is an influential man, Ezra," Orion warned, his expression grave. "If he knows, that means he's already told my mother, who will tell her friends in every major financial consortium. News will spread through the entire city within days. We're not prepared for the chaos that's coming."
I felt my face darken. "No, we're not."
The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime. I stepped out, turning to face Orion with determination hardening my resolve.
"So we need to find a way to handle this immediately," I stated, lowering my voice to a dangerous timbre. "No matter what happens, I'm marrying Isolde."
Orion nodded firmly. "I understand. Let me know if you need anything."
"I will."
As Orion headed toward the training center, I felt my eyes shift slightly, Prime's agitation manifesting physically. He was restless beneath my skin, sensing the confrontation ahead.
Walking purposefully toward my office, I felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on me. Two guards immediately opened the double doors as I approached, revealing the luxurious interior.
Evanthe sat on my Italian leather sofa, tablet in hand, pretending to work . The sight of her ignited fresh anger in my chest. Had she been a man, I would have taught her a lesson she wouldn't forget. But she was not only a woman—she was carrying a child. Possibly my child. Werewolf code prevented me from harming her physically, no matter how much she deserved it.
*That woman will be our downfall,* Prime growled in my mind.
*She's just trying to manipulate us,* I responded internally, stepping into the office with deliberate calm despite Prime's low growl rumbling inside me.
"Good morning, my Alpha," Evanthe greeted with a bright smile, her voice honey-sweet.
"There's nothing good about this morning," I replied coldly. "Why the hell did I receive a call from your father saying we need to talk because I got you pregnant? He mentioned something about meeting."
Evanthe's perfect smile faltered. "I told him," she admitted, setting down her tablet. "I had to. I'm pregnant, Ezra. It's not something I can hide for long."
"Shut up! Shut up right now!" My control snapped, my voice thundering through the office.
I strode to the floor-to-ceiling windows, turning my back to her to prevent myself from doing something I might regret. I could feel my eyes fully gold now, Prime pushing dangerously close to the surface.
"We've been through this already, Evanthe. We were just sex partners. I never promised you anything. I specifically told you I would choose someone else, and that someone would not be you. You're trying to force my hand by getting pregnant and involving your family."
"If you think rationally, you'll see I'm your best option, Ezra," Evanthe argued, desperation creeping into her voice. "I'm beautiful, intelligent, excellent at work, and I'm a purebred Lycan! My family has tremendous influence in financial circles. Silver Moon Group needs someone like me as Luna to enhance its public image." She paused, her voice turning venomous. "What do you want instead? A nobody from a debt-ridden family? A weak woman who sold herself to the Moon Alliance Program to pay off her family's debts? Silver Moon doesn't need a weak Luna."
I whirled around, feeling Prime's rage burning through my eyes, my face contorted with fury. "You don't get to decide what Silver Moon needs, and Isolde is not weak. You've trained with her. You've seen her in the arena! She's a strong female werewolf who survived all the obstacles you put in her way in the Moon Alliance Program and still stands tall. That's how resilient she is. Damn it, I don't even know why I'm having this conversation with you."
Evanthe rushed toward me, tears welling in her eyes as she cupped my face in her hands. "Ezra, my Alpha. Why are you doing this to me? Why would you choose a daughter from a debt-ridden family over me? I'm better suited to stand by your side. I am the Luna that Silver Moon needs! Think about the empire our child could inherit!"
I forcefully removed her hands, feeling Prime's growl rumble through my chest as I spoke.
"That's because Isolde has qualities I required, but she also has qualities I didn't ask for. Qualities I didn't even know I needed until I met her." My voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "I will never choose you as my Luna, Evanthe. Not if every pack turned against me. You will never have a place in my heart or my home. Know that and accept it!"
Evanthe collapsed onto the expensive Persian rug, wailing in anguish. I stormed out of my office, the two guards immediately falling into step behind me.
I strode through the hallway furiously.
Every employee I passed lowered their heads, avoiding eye contact as the powerful aura of my fury filled the corridor. They knew better than to approach their Alpha now.
