I leaned back in my leather chair, the weight of recent events pressing down on my shoulders like a concrete slab. "Nathaniel," I called out.

"Isn't Orion here yet?" he asked, his brow furrowing slightly.

I looked up, curiosity flickering in my eyes. "No. Should he be?"

My fingers began drumming against the desk surface.

"He contacted me a few minutes ago through his phone, told me to come here. Said there was urgent business he needed to report to us," Nathaniel explained.

"I see." I nodded slowly.

"Did he reveal what nature of business it was?" I asked, my fingers stopping their rhythmic tapping as I leaned forward slightly.

"No," Nathaniel replied, releasing a soft sigh. "He only said it was urgent and of great importance."

I was about to suggest that Orion should arrive soon when a sharp knock on my office door interrupted my thoughts.

The door handle turned, and the door was quickly pushed open. Orion appeared in the doorway, his expression unusually tense. My security team immediately closed the door behind him, sealing us off from the outside world.

"Ezra, I'm going to ask an extremely personal question next that might cross boundaries, but I hope you understand it's necessary. Please consider carefully before answering," Orion said.

"What question?" I asked, my voice low, golden light flashing in my eyes.

Nathaniel tried to intervene. "Orion, this is already—"
