EZRA'S POV

"Now that we've addressed the matter of Evanthe Hawthorne's crimes," I began, my voice cutting through the silence like a blade, "there's another issue we need to discuss."

I straightened to my full height, letting my Alpha presence fill the room. Several of the weaker wolves shifted uncomfortably in their chairs, unable to meet my gaze directly.

"The truth about my mate, Isolde Blackwood."

A ripple of surprise moved through the assembled crowd. I could smell their confusion, their curiosity, and in some cases, their lingering prejudice against Isolde.

"Let me be absolutely clear," I continued, my voice dropping to a dangerous level that made everyone lean forward. "The evidence presented today proves beyond any doubt that Isolde had no involvement in the crimes she was accused of. She was framed by Evanthe Hawthorne in a calculated attempt to remove her as competition for the position of Luna."

Elder Nash cleared his throat nervously. "Alpha Ezra, while the evidence against Evanthe is compelling, some of us still have concerns about—"

"About what?" I cut him off, my eyes flashing gold. "About the fact that she fought back when attacked? About the fact that she refused to bow down to your prejudices? Or about the fact that you were all so easily manipulated by a murderer?"

The elder's face reddened, but he remained silent.

I scanned the room slowly, making eye contact with each person present. "From this moment forward, I will not tolerate any negative information about my mate being spread. Anyone found doing so will face severe sanctions from both Silver Moon Group and myself personally."

"She is the mate chosen for me by the Moon Goddess herself," I continued, my voice growing stronger with each word. "Unless you want to question the Moon Goddess's decision, you'd better start giving Isolde the respect she deserves."

Beta Nathaniel nodded approvingly from his seat, while Orion stood silently behind me, his amber eyes scanning the room for any signs of dissent.

"I have accepted her as my mate and as the Luna of Silver Moon Group," I declared, my gaze moving to the pack elders who were shifting uncomfortably in their luxurious chairs. "You will do the same. Anyone who opposes my decision can either leave my territory or pay for their foolishness with their life."

The silence that followed was deafening. I could see the fear in their eyes, the recognition that I wasn't making idle threats.

I was already planning to restructure the elder council, to diminish their influence and prevent them from interfering in pack matters again. But first, I had more pressing concerns.

"This meeting is adjourned," I announced abruptly.

As one, every person in the room rose to their feet and bowed deeply, showing their respect and acknowledgment of my authority. I didn't wait for them to straighten before turning on my heel and striding toward the exit, Orion falling into step beside me.

"The car is already waiting, Alpha," Orion said quietly as we reached the elevator. He seemed to read my thoughts without me having to voice them. As soon as we stepped into the luxurious vehicle, he leaned forward to the driver. "Cade, get us to the detention facility. Fastest route possible."

I could barely control my excitement as we descended into the underground levels of Silver Moon Tower. After days of separation, days of having to watch Isolde suffer while I gathered evidence to clear her name, I was finally going to be able to hold her again.

*She's going to be so relieved,* I thought, a rare smile crossing my face as the elevator descended. *Finally, we can move forward without these shadows hanging over us.*

After fighting against the mate bond because of my past trauma, I was ready to embrace what the Moon Goddess had given us.

The security personnel we passed did double-takes at the sight of my smile. It was probably the first time they'd seen me look genuinely happy in months.

When the private elevator reached Isolde's floor, both Prime and I were practically vibrating with energy. The urge to see her, to touch her, to make sure she was safe and unharmed, was overwhelming.

In just moments, I would be able to apologize for everything she'd endured, to explain why I'd had to let her remain in detention while we built our case.

But when I reached her cell and looked through the reinforced glass window, my thoughts ground to a halt.

The room was empty.

I stared at the vacant space, my mind struggling to process what I was seeing. The bed was made. The small table and chair sat undisturbed. There was no sign of Isolde anywhere.

"Something wrong, Alpha?" Orion asked, noticing my sudden stillness.

"The cell," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "It's empty."

I pressed closer to the glass, as if maybe I'd missed something, as if maybe she was just out of my line of sight. But no—the cell was definitely unoccupied.

My enhanced senses kicked in automatically. I breathed deeply, trying to catch Isolde's scent, but only detected the faint traces of her presence that had grown stale with time.

"Where is she?" I asked the three security guards who had accompanied us, my voice low and carefully controlled.

One of them, a young wolf, stammered his response. "She... she... I did my patrol rounds, and she was here. That was about thirty minutes ago, Alpha."

"What do you mean she was here thirty minutes ago?"

Orion moved past me to examine the cell door. "The lock is intact," he reported, running his fingers along the electronic mechanism. "No signs of forced entry or tampering. So this wasn't an escape. Someone with authorization had to have taken her."

"Since the midnight shift change, we've been monitoring this area continuously," Marcus insisted, his voice shaking slightly. "I can swear on my life that no one was authorized to enter this cell."

The wrongness of the situation hit me like a physical blow. Prime was agitated in my mind, sensing danger, sensing that something was terribly amiss.

"Find her," I said, my voice dropping to that deadly calm tone. Then my control cracked slightly, and my voice rose to almost shake the corridor walls. "Find her NOW!"

I turned to Orion, grabbing the lapels of his suit jacket, desperation creeping into my voice despite my attempts to maintain control. "You have to find her, Orion. I need you to mobilize every resource we have. Right now."

"I will, Alpha," Orion said firmly, his amber eyes steady and reassuring. "I'll deploy everything we have."

But for the first time in years, his assurance didn't calm the fear growing in my chest.

I analyzed the situation quickly: the lock was intact, the security system showed no abnormalities, the guards wouldn't act without authorization. This wasn't a random event or a simple escape.

The icy anger was building in my chest, but underneath it was something I hadn't felt in years: genuine fear. Not for myself, but for someone I couldn't bear to lose.

Not again.
