Betrayed and Claimed by the Lycan King Chapter 69
Isolde's POV
I sat nervously in the office, recognizing Una immediately as the woman who had instructed me on how to serve the Lycan King yesterday. My hands fidgeted in my lap as she studied me from behind her desk.
"Good evening, Ma'am," I greeted her respectfully, fighting to keep my voice steady.
She looked up from her paperwork, and I felt a chill run through me. There was something about these Moon Alliance administrators that made my skin crawl. They wielded their power with such casual cruelty that it was impossible not to fear them.
*Stay alert,* Lyra warned in my mind. *These people are dangerous.*
"Isolde," Una said my name calmly. No frown, no harsh tone. This was a good sign—I hadn't done anything wrong. At least not yet.
"I'm sure you're wondering why I called you here instead of Greta," she said, leaning forward with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "I wanted to personally congratulate you."
My eyes darted back and forth in surprise. This was unusual. Typically, these meetings involved standing at attention while being berated for some perceived failure.
Una interlaced her fingers on the desk, fixing me with an intense stare. I noticed a flash of gold in her eyes—her wolf was close to the surface. I avoided direct eye contact, not wanting to provoke either woman or wolf.
"Yes," she replied, her voice unnervingly smooth. "I wanted to inform you that the Lycan King was extremely satisfied with your services last night. In fact, he gave you an unprecedented positive review."
I kept my expression neutral, though my insides were churning with discomfort.
"You're always causing trouble here," she continued, "but it seems you have quite the experience in the bedroom." She leaned forward, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "So, what was it like? Fucking an Alpha? Have you seen his cock yet? I've heard rumors about his... endowment."
I flinched hard at her vulgar questions, nearly blurting out that Ezra and I hadn't actually had sex. The casual way she spoke about him made my wolf bristle with possessiveness.
"I'm glad he enjoyed my service," I replied with a forced smile and nod, deliberately avoiding her inappropriate questions.
Service. What a loaded word. In reality, it had consisted of dining together, wearing his clothes, pouring drinks, being kissed by him, watching a horror movie, preparing a hot bath, and selecting clothing—not fucking him. But Una clearly had a different mental picture, imagining all sorts of depraved scenarios.
*She probably thinks you were bent over every piece of furniture in his penthouse,* Lyra snickered in my mind. *If only she knew about the mate bond...*
"He says to expect more invitations from him in the future," Una continued, her expression brightening. "This is good for you."
She smiled, and I nodded in response, nervously fidgeting with my sweaty fingers. The thought of spending more nights with Ezra both terrified and excited me.
*He is our mate,* Lyra whispered in my mind. *We belong to him.*
Una stood up suddenly. "I'll be right back. Wait here for me."
She hurried out of the office before I could respond. My eyes wandered around her desk, noting the Silver Moon Group logo that served as a constant reminder of my father's debt.
Then I spotted it—a phone sitting on her desk. My heart skipped a beat. My first thought was to call my father.
I glanced nervously at the door, then grabbed the phone. With lightning speed, I dialed my father's number with trembling hands and pressed the phone to my ear.
This was dangerous, incredibly dangerous. If caught, I'd be in serious trouble. But I had to try. I need my father's help. I wanted to ask about my mother, to remind him I was determined to get out of this Moon Alliance program no matter what.
*This is a dangerous gamble,* Lyra warned, but I ignored my wolf's concerns.
The phone rang for what felt like eternity before someone finally answered.
"Hello?" I whispered. "Dad?"
"Who is this?" My father Alaric's voice came through, making my heart leap with joy.
"Dad, it's me, Isolde," I whispered urgently, my voice catching. "I don't have much time. You need to get me out of here. They're treating us like sex slaves!"
There was a long pause on the other end. "Isolde, I... I can't do that. The agreement with Silver Moon Group is binding."
My heart sank. "What do you mean you can't? You put me in here! You can get me out!"
"It's not that simple," he replied, his voice strained. "The debt—"
"Fuck the debt!" I hissed, keeping my voice low but intense. "Dad, they're controlling everything. I can't even leave the area without permission. Please, there must be something you can do."
"I'm sorry, Isolde. My hands are tied. Ezra Silverwood himself would find me trouble If I try anything..."
"So you're just going to abandon me here?" I felt tears stinging my eyes.
"You don't understand the position I'm in," he said defensively. "The family's future depends on this arrangement."
"The family?" I scoffed. "You mean you and Sybilla's mother? What about me? What about Mom?"
At the mention of my mother, he went quiet again.
"Have you heard from her?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice. "Anything at all?"
"No," he admitted softly. "Nothing since she left."
The weight of his words crushed me. I was truly alone in this. My father wouldn't help me. My mother was gone. There was no one coming to my rescue.
"I have to go," I said, my voice hollow. "Goodbye, Dad."
The phone was suddenly snatched from my hand. I nearly fainted from shock.
Una stood there, fury etched across her face, her eyes flashing dangerously gold. "What do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
My heart pounded violently in my chest, my bones trembling. This was bad. This was really, really bad.
*I'll protect us,* Lyra growled within me, but what could she possibly do in this situation?
"How dare you contact your family?" Una hissed. "Don't you know this is forbidden in the Moon Alliance Program?"
"I know," I admitted, my voice barely audible.
"You'll pay for this!" Una threatened, her face contorted with rage.
I felt my soul leave my body. What had I done? In a moment of weakness, I'd jeopardized everything. And for what? To confirm what I already suspected—that I was completely on my own. No father to rescue me, no mother to turn to. In this gilded cage, I had only myself to rely on.
Una picked up her internal phone line, a cold smile spreading across her face. "I'm reporting this to Beta Nathaniel immediately, and then to Alpha Ezra. You're finished, Miss Blackwood."
*Shit,* I thought. I was completely, utterly fucked.
