Betrayed and Claimed by the Lycan King Chapter 339
Isolde's POV
The morning light filtering through the gaps in my bedroom curtains was the first thing I noticed when I woke up.
Then I turned my head and saw Ezra sleeping beside me.
My heart immediately started racing.
Last night came flooding back—walking back from the city park with Daryl, the argument with Ezra in my living room, and then the sudden shift when tension melted into that earth-shattering kiss. Everything after that was a blur of heated breathing, quiet moans, and somehow making it up to my bedroom where we...
God, we had sex. Amazing, mind-blowing, absolutely magical sex.
I couldn't deny it—I had enjoyed every fucking second of it.
*"Looks like we finally accepted that he's our mate,"* Lyra said smugly in my head.
I was still staring at Ezra's sleeping form when he suddenly spoke without opening his eyes, making me jump.
"Like what you see?"
I gasped and pressed my hand to my chest, my heart nearly exploding out of my ribcage. I reached over and lightly smacked his shoulder. "Don't scare me like that!"
He opened those mesmerizing gray eyes and looked at me with what I could only describe as amusement. "Sorry. Good morning."
Then he sat up, and Jesus Christ, his chest was absolutely perfect. All those defined muscles and that natural tan that made him look like some kind of Greek god. He pulled me into his arms and pressed the most unexpectedly gentle kiss to my forehead.
The gesture made my heart flutter and my cheeks burn. Butterflies danced in my stomach as I once again confirmed that last night had been absolutely magical, and I had loved every minute of it.
"How was last night?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
I felt shy all of a sudden. "It was amazing. What we did... I really enjoyed it."
A wicked grin spread across his face. "Care to tell me which parts you particularly enjoyed?"
I burst out laughing. This playful, teasing side of Ezra was something I'd never seen before. I was about to answer when—
The was a knock on the door, and I heard my half-brother's voice: "Isolde, it's me."
All the warmth and playfulness drained from my body in an instant. My heart plummeted straight into my stomach.
I immediately jumped out of bed—completely naked—and started pulling at Ezra. "Holden absolutely cannot know you spent the night here. You have to hide!"
*"Seriously? You're going to make the Lycan King hide?"* Lyra laughed in my head.
"What?" Ezra looked at me like I'd lost my mind.
I realized how absolutely ridiculous it was to ask the Lycan King to hide because of my little brother, but I pressed on anyway.
"You want me, the CEO of Silver Moon Group, to hide because of your brother?" he said, raising an eyebrow. "That's insane. It's just Holden."
I gave him my best puppy dog eyes, the kind that I hoped would make him feel guilty enough to cooperate. When Holden called again, I clasped my hands together and begged.
"Please. Just this once, do this for me. I'm begging you."
Ezra stared at me for a long moment, then sighed heavily. "Fine!"
He got up and walked into my walk-in closet. I quickly threw on a silk robe and went to answer the door.
I opened it with the most overly bright smile I could manage, trying way too hard to look natural.
Holden's eyebrows shot up suspiciously, and his gaze swept past me to scan the interior of my room.
"Why do you look so guilty?" he asked directly.
My heart started pounding faster. "Ezra spent the night here last night, didn't he?"
"No! Of course not!" I denied immediately and emphatically.
I could tell from his suspicious stare that he didn't believe me for a second. Thank God I had made Ezra hide.
*"You're such a terrible liar,"* Lyra laughed in my head.
Holden seemed to accept my denial for the moment and told me he'd brought breakfast. Just when I thought I'd gotten away with it, he turned around and added casually:
"Oh, and tell Ezra hiding in the closet that he can come down for breakfast too, unless he plans to starve."
I let out a completely defeated sigh.
"Hiding a man in the closet like some teenager," Holden shook his head. "You two are ridiculous. I can't believe the future of the world is in your hands."
He turned and walked toward the kitchen, leaving me standing there feeling absolutely mortified, wishing the floor would just open up and swallow me whole.
*Lyra was laughing hysterically in my head.*
After Holden disappeared into the kitchen, I stood there for another moment, my face burning with embarrassment. Then I heard Ezra's low chuckle from inside the closet.
"You can come out now," I called softly. "The damage is done."
Ezra emerged, still shirtless, with that infuriating smirk on his face. "So much for being subtle."
"Don't you dare laugh at me," I warned, but I was fighting back a smile myself. "This is all your fault!"
He pulled me against him, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "I'll make it up to you by dealing with your very observant little brother."
I leaned back to look at him, suddenly feeling overwhelmed by everything that had happened. "Ezra... this is all happening so fast. Are we really doing this? Am I just... Luna now? What about Lillian?"
Before he could answer, his phone buzzed on the nightstand. He glanced at the caller ID and his expression grew serious.
"I have to take this," he said, reaching for the phone. "Nathaniel."
I watched as he listened intently to whatever Beta Nathaniel was telling him. Gradually, a slow, satisfied smile spread across his face—the kind of smile that meant very good news.
"Understood. Excellent work," he said before hanging up.
"What was that about?" I asked, curious about the sudden shift in his mood.
Ezra turned to me, his gray eyes gleaming with something that looked suspiciously like victory. "That was Nathaniel. Byron and Luther have both been captured. After some... intensive questioning, they've confessed to everything."
My heart skipped a beat. "Slow down! Everything?"
"Everything," he confirmed. "I now have concrete proof that Lillian has been deceiving me from the moment she returned."
The relief that washed over me was so intense I nearly collapsed. "So she's...?"
"Done. Finished. No longer a threat to us or our future." He extended his hand to me, his expression both tender and commanding. "I have everything I need to expose her lies and remove her from our lives permanently."
I stared at his outstretched hand, understanding the significance of this moment. This wasn't just about accepting his hand—it was about accepting everything that came with it.
"So... Now let's rule together, shall we?" he asked.
I looked into those mesmerizing gray eyes and realized that this was exactly where I was meant to be. All the pain, all the uncertainty, all the fighting—it had led us here.
I placed my hand in his and smiled as happily as I could.
