Betrayed and Claimed by the Lycan King Chapter 90
Ezra's POV
My heart stopped the moment Orion's words registered.
"My king, emergency. Isolde is in a VIP room at the club, drugged, nearly naked, surrounded by our wolves."
The carefully constructed mask of indifference I'd maintained for years shattered in an instant. The world around me collapsed into a singular, horrifying reality.
I ran like a madman through the Silver Moon headquarters, my suit disheveled, tie askew, eyes wild with fury. Employees flattened themselves against walls as I passed, their faces masks of surprise and fear. None had ever seen their composed CEO in such a state.
*We'll kill them all,* Prime growled within me, his rage matching my own. *Anyone who touched her will die slowly.*
For once, we were in perfect agreement.
I burst through the doors of the executive elevator, jamming the button for the club level repeatedly, as if that would make it move faster. Each second felt like an eternity. The image Orion had painted burned in my mind—Isolde drugged, vulnerable, surrounded by predators.
*My mate. They touched my mate.*
When the elevator finally opened, I sprinted down the hallway toward the VIP section, following Isolde's scent that had become as familiar to me as my own. The corridor seemed endless, my heart pounding against my ribcage with each step.
I kicked the door open with thunderous force, the wood splintering around the lock. The room fell into immediate silence.
Every wolf except Orion dropped to their knees, heads bowed, bodies trembling with fear. I ignored them completely, my golden eyes scanning the room frantically until I found her.
My heart plummeted into an icy abyss.
Isolde was half-lying on a luxurious couch, her clothes nearly torn to shreds, exposing large patches of skin. Her face wore an unnatural smile, her eyes unfocused and glazed. This wasn't my fierce, defiant mate. This was a woman who had been violated in the worst way.
*KILL THEM ALL!* Prime roared so loudly I nearly lost control.
I rushed to her, dropping to one knee before her. My eyes burned, rimmed with red as I fought to maintain control of the wolf within me that wanted to shift and tear apart every person in the room.
Isolde looked at me and let out a drunken giggle, reaching out to cup my face in her hands. The touch sent electric shocks through my entire body.
"Why is the big CEO of Silver Moon kneeling in front of me?" she slurred, laughing in a disjointed way. "Are you proposing? You know, if you want me, you don't have to be so formal."
I drew a deep breath, taking her hand and gently kissing her knuckles, before turning to Orion.
"Her condition?" My voice was low and dangerous.
"She's been drugged. A mixture, likely containing hallucinogens," Orion replied, his face grim.
My gaze swept to the wolves still kneeling at the far side of the room, my eyes shifting fully to gold. "Did you do this?" My voice sounded like it came straight from hell.
"No, Alpha! We swear!" they answered in unison, their voices shaking.
I didn't believe them for a second. Prime howled for blood within me.
"Based on the evidence and security footage," Orion continued, hesitating slightly, "It looks like..."
"Finish!" I growled.
"Like a premeditated gang rape plan," he said, lowering his voice.
Rage like I had never known swept through me. Every muscle in my body tensed as my eyes turned completely gold, my wolf features beginning to emerge. I was going to tear them apart with my bare hands.
Just as I was about to rise and attack, Isolde suddenly lurched forward and vomited hot bile all over my custom suit. She heaved again, and this time I saw streaks of blood mixed with the vomit. The third time, it was pure blood before she collapsed limply into my arms.
I froze, looking down at her. Fear replaced anger as ice flooded my veins.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I cursed under my breath.
Without a moment's hesitation, I scooped her into my arms and stood up, completely disregarding the vomit covering both of us. Orion rushed ahead, opening the door and leading the way to the car. I slid into the backseat with Isolde still cradled against my chest, and Orion took the driver's seat, speeding toward Silver Moon's private hospital.
During the ride, she continued to vomit blood, her face becoming as white as paper. My fingers trembled with fear as I held her.
*I can't lose her. I can't lose my second chance. She's my only mate.*
I silently prayed to the Moon Goddess: *Please don't take her from me again. I can't survive it a second time.*
---
Two hours later, I paced relentlessly in the hallway outside the high-end hospital room while Orion stood guard against the wall. On the surface, I maintained my composure, but inside I was teetering on the edge of collapse.
It had taken Orion nearly an hour to convince me to shower in the hospital suite and change into the clean clothes Nathaniel had sent over. The entire time, I'd been in a state of near-panic, desperate to get back to Isolde's side.
*We should be hunting down those who did this,* Prime snarled within me. *They must pay in blood.*
"We will," I promised silently. "But first we need to make sure she's safe."
The treatment room door opened, and the chief physician emerged. I immediately stopped pacing and strode toward him.
"How is she?" My voice was unnaturally tight.
"Ms. Blackwood is stable," the doctor reported. "She ingested a mixture containing synthetic opioids and hallucinogens that triggered a severe allergic reaction, hence the blood vomiting. She was brought in just in time. We've cleared the toxins from her system, and there appears to be no permanent damage. She's resting now and should make a full recovery."
My shoulders visibly relaxed as I exhaled a breath I'd been holding for what felt like hours. The tension in my face eased into relief.
*She's safe. She'll live. I can breathe again.* Even Prime calmed within me.
"Can I see her?" I asked the doctor.
"Of course, Alpha. Please follow me."
I signaled for the doctor to wait a moment and turned to Orion, whose expression remained serious but showed clear relief.
"I want you to mobilize every resource we have to find out who orchestrated this," I instructed, my voice cold as ice. "Bring everyone involved to me. Alive."
Orion nodded but then suggested, "I'll act immediately, but it might be more effective to wait until Isolde wakes up. She might have information that could help us."
I frowned, considering his words for a moment before nodding in agreement. "You're right. I'll notify you as soon as she wakes."
"I'll have everything ready, standing by," Orion assured me.
I turned back to the doctor and followed him toward Isolde's room, my resolve hardening with each step.
*Whoever dared to touch her will wish they were never born. They picked the wrong woman to hurt. They picked the wrong Alpha to cross!*
