Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 154
Caroline’s P.O.V
I sat across from Alpha Camden, my mind racing as I tried to piece everything together.
"But…Alpha Camden, this seems impossible," I began, my voice shaky but determined. "For so long, we couldn't make sense of the whole Lunar Sisters theory. I mean, Aurora’s human. How could she possibly be tied to me in that way, right? There’s no way she could be my Lunar Sister, not with her being... human."
Alpha Camden leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "But you're starting to think there's something more to it, aren't you?"
I nodded slowly, trying to keep my thoughts in order as I spoke. "Yes. At first, I couldn't wrap my head around it. But now, everything we've learned, everything that’s been happening, it might actually make sense." I paused, my voice growing more intense with each word.
"If it was a witch, someone tied to use magic, then that could explain everything. Maybe that person was connected to Aurora, in some way. And that’s why they targeted her father, hoping he might know where she is. It’s like we’ve been looking at this from the wrong angle all along."
Before I could continue, Harmona interrupted me, her voice sharp and full of authority. "Hold on a second, Caroline," she said, her eyes narrowing.
"Witches aren't easily detectable, you know that. It’s not something we can just figure out, especially not until they turn eighteen. And by then, it's often too late."
I shot her a look, frustration building in my chest. "I know that, Harmona. Believe me, I do. But this is different. Everything about this feels different. There's more to Aurora's story than we’ve been told. I can feel it."
Alpha Camden held up a hand, his gaze shifting between us. "I understand both of you. But we can’t jump to conclusions just yet. We need to figure out how we can confirm this, without exposing anyone to unnecessary danger. We need facts, not just theories."
I bit my lip, feeling the weight of the situation. It was all connected, I was sure of it, but I didn’t know how to prove it without risking everything.
"I get it," I muttered, looking away. "I just... I have this gut feeling that we’re getting closer. And it’s terrifying."
“That’s why a witch doesn’t get their powers until their eighteenth birthday.” Harmona explained. “They need to be somewhat emotionally mature, enough to discern right from wrong, to get their powers.”
I sat there, listening intently as Harmona spoke, trying to make sense of the words coming from her mouth. She explained, almost as if it were a natural law, that just like how a wolf finds their mate at eighteen, a witch would awaken to their powers at the same age. But until Aurora hit that milestone, we wouldn't know for sure. A knot formed in my stomach.
"So, it's really a matter of waiting for her to turn eighteen?" I asked, the uncertainty creeping into my voice. Harmona nodded firmly.
"Yes, Caroline. The powers are tied to age, and until that happens, there’s no way to know if she has them—or even if she’ll be able to harness them," Harmona confirmed, her voice steady but full of unspoken weight.
Jade, who had been quiet up until then, leaned forward, his brows furrowing. "But what if she’s... a half-blood?" he asked, the question hanging in the air. "Is it possible for her powers to stay dormant in that case? Her parents were both human, after all."
There was a long pause before Harmona replied, her gaze narrowing. "Half-bloods don’t exist when it comes to witches. You either are or you aren’t. Powers can’t stay dormant, not really. Even if they seem absent, the magic is still there, waiting to reveal itself. At eighteen, no matter how weak or strong they are, a witch's powers always show themselves."
I swallowed hard, the weight of her words hitting me all at once. Aurora's fate would be sealed once she turned eighteen—there was no avoiding it.
"I guess it’s not too far off," I muttered, my fingers tapping nervously on the table. "Aurora’s birthday is just around the corner. It won’t be long before we know the truth."
Harmona gave me a long look, almost as though she were seeing through me, into my fears and doubts. "Yes, but the truth can be a heavy thing to bear. But an untrained witch can be very dangerous. We need to be prepared for the time she actually gets her powers."
I stared back at her, my heart beating faster. We were almost out of time, and suddenly, this mess had taken a dramatic turn. It wasn’t just about me and Aurora anymore. It was about the safety of those around her as well.
“Harmona inspected the body, and there were no traces of magic,” Alpha Camden started, his voice steady, but I could hear the tension beneath it. “That leads me to believe only one thing—that Aurora’s mother may have been a witch.”
Harmona nodded. “That’s right. It’s the only explanation that makes sense. But there’s more,” she said, stepping forward, her eyes narrowing as if recalling something unsettling.
“Now that we have discovered that sigil, it could mean only one thing. Aurora’s family—they’re reaching out to her. They want her.” She paused, letting the weight of those words sink in. “And depending on which family claims her, this could go in any direction. Some witches... Some practice dark magic. Those kinds of witches—well, they can't be trusted.”
The air in the room shifted. I could feel it, thick with uncertainty. But it was Harmony's next words that truly made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
“When I examined the corpse further, I found something else about the sigil.” She took a slow, deliberate breath, her voice dropping. “It was burned into his chest by a special iron. And even though it was faint, I could feel it—the trace of darkness still clinging to it.”
I glanced at my father, who sat beside me, his face pale, lips pressed into a tight line. “What does that mean?” I asked, unable to keep the question from spilling out.
Harmona’s gaze flickered to me, then to Alpha Camden, before returning to me. “It means that whatever happened to him, whatever drew that sigil, is connected to something dark. A force that’s still lingering—something I can’t quite pinpoint.” She paused again, her expression darkening. “But it’s not good. And it might be following Aurora now.”
That dark shadow that Aurora had been talking about! Could it be? That whatever wanted her, was a bearer of darkness?
“So? What now?” My father finally asked, his voice filled with concern. “With Aurora connected to my daughter…what does that mean for everyone?”
Alpha Camden stepped forward, his eyes fierce. “We’ll protect Aurora; she is Caleb’s mate and the future Luna. That’s why I’ve requested Harmona to stay here for a while. She will help when it’s time for Aurora’s birthday. And if she is indeed a witch, we will provide her with all the help she needs.”
Harmona nodded. “I’ll help subdue her powers, making sure she doesn’t harm anyone, and I will make sure that she gets the training she needs to harness her powers for good.”
Alpha Camden turned to address everyone. “Whatever this is, we’ll face it together, as family, as pack.”
The room went silent for a moment, the weight of the situation pressing down on all of us. I didn’t know what was coming, but I was ready to fight alongside them.
