Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 248

Aurora’s P.O.V

The day at school had gone much better than I’d expected. I wasn’t sure what I had been dreading exactly—maybe the usual stares, the whispers that followed me like a shadow, or just the exhaustion of pretending like none of it bothered me. But today, none of it seemed to matter. The classes went by quickly, the interactions with my friends felt natural, and for once, I didn’t feel like I was suffocating under the weight of my own thoughts. Maybe I was finally getting used to the rhythm of things. Or maybe I was just too tired to care.

When the final bell rang, I wasted no time gathering my things, eager to leave. Caleb was already waiting for me outside, leaning against his car with that easy, relaxed demeanor of his, arms crossed as he watched me approach. "You look like you survived the day," he remarked, his lips quivering in a half-smile.

"Shockingly, yes," I replied, sliding into the passenger seat as he got in on the other side. "I’d say it wasn’t terrible."

"That’s progress," he chuckled, starting the car. The familiar hum of the engine filled the silence as we pulled onto the road leading back to our pack’s territory. I leaned back against the seat, letting out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. It was nice, this quiet companionship between us. Caleb never pushed for conversation, never demanded explanations for the emotions I kept locked away. He was just there, solid and unwavering.

But as we drove, I noticed something strange. Instead of taking the usual route home, Caleb made an unexpected turn. My brows furrowed as I glanced at him. "Uh, you just missed the turn."

"I know," he said simply, his grip on the wheel firm but relaxed.

I frowned. "Where are we going?"

"You’ll see," he replied, a teasing glint in his eyes. "It’s a surprise."

A surprise. I wasn’t sure whether to be excited or nervous. Caleb wasn’t the kind to play games, but he also wasn’t one to make spontaneous plans. My mind raced through possibilities as the road became more and more familiar, a quiet realization settling in my chest.

No. It couldn’t be.

I sat up straighter, my heart pounding as we approached a place I hadn't seen in what felt like a lifetime. My old home. Or at least, the land where it used to stand. My breath hitched as I took in the sight before me. Construction work was underway—stacks of lumber, cement bags, workers moving around with purpose. A new house. My new house.

I turned to Caleb, my voice barely above a whisper. "What is this?"

He parked the car and faced me, his expression soft, careful. "It’s yours, Aurora. We’re rebuilding it. The construction work has already begun."

The weight of his words crashed over me like a tidal wave. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. I felt frozen, torn between the flood of memories and the overwhelming reality in front of me.

"You—" My voice cracked. I swallowed hard, trying again. "The construction has already begun? Why didn’t anyone tell me?"

"Because we wanted it to be a surprise," Caleb said gently. "You lost so much, Aurora. I know nothing can bring back what was taken, but this… this is a start. The Architect approved your plans so my father wanted to get this done as soon as possible."

I stepped out of the car, watching as Caleb moved around to help. His hand rested gently on my arm as he steadied me, his touch firm yet considerate. There was something about the way he always moved with quiet confidence, always aware, always in control, that it made my heart skip a beat.

The moment my feet touched the soil of this land, I felt something shift within me—a realization, a sense of closure. The place that had once been my nightmare, the very ground that had held my screams, my tears, and my brokenness, was no longer a graveyard of my past. It was transforming, brick by brick, into something new. Something hopeful.

Something that wasn’t just mine, but also belonged to my half-siblings, to the people who had suffered alongside me in silence. I could see it now—the skeletal frames of buildings rising against the horizon, the workers moving about, the sound of hammers striking metal and the scent of fresh earth turning over. What once stood as a testament to my pain was now shaping into a future that held promise. And for the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to smile—not the forced, polite kind, but a real, genuine one.

We made our way toward the center of the property, where the workers were busy laying out the foundation of what would soon become my new home. The sounds of construction filled the air—the rhythmic pounding of hammers, the low murmur of instructions being passed, the occasional clatter of tools against concrete. The old house had served its purpose, but this one—this one was meant to be more. Bigger. Sturdier. A fresh start.

Caleb turned to me, his eyes scanning the vast expanse of land we were building on. “If you want a garden,” he said, his voice calm yet certain, “I can arrange to buy some of the neighboring land. You could have your own space for planting whatever you want.”

I let out a quiet chuckle, shaking my head at the idea. “Don’t waste money on that,” I told him, my tone light but firm. “I’ve never been into gardening.” I glanced at the already diminished garden space, feeling no real loss for it. “If Avery or Maggie want one, they can always use the terrace.”

Caleb studied me for a moment, as if weighing my words, then nodded. “Alright,” he said simply, though I could see the way his mind was already moving on to the next thing, the next plan. That was Caleb—always ready to fix things, to provide, to make sure everyone had what they needed before they even realized they needed it.

I exhaled slowly, watching as the workers continued, their hands molding the future we had envisioned. A bigger house. A fresh start. A life waiting to be filled with new memories.

I turned back to the sight before me, my eyes stinging. For so long, I had convinced myself that my home was gone forever, reduced to ashes and memories that I refused to touch. But here it was. Rising from the ruins. Proof that not everything lost had to stay lost.

I turned to Caleb, my heart lighter than it had been in years. “I never thought I’d see this day,” I admitted, my voice thick with emotion. “This place… it was my nightmare. And now—” I let out a breath, shaking my head in disbelief. “It’s becoming a dream. Not just mine, but theirs too.”

Caleb, who had been watching me quietly, gave me a small smile, the kind that held meaning beyond words. “That’s why I wanted to bring you here,” he said. "Do you like it?" he asked, his voice softer now.

I turned to him, my throat tight with emotion. "I don’t even know what to say," I admitted. "I can’t wait to see this land turn into the home that I had envisioned.”

Caleb’s lips curled into a small, knowing smile. "Good. Because this is only the beginning."

I looked up at him, sensing something in his tone, something that made my stomach twist. There was more to this visit than just showing me the progress. “There’s another reason, isn’t there?” I asked, my voice softer now.

He nodded, his gaze holding mine, steady but unreadable. “Yeah,” he said. “There is.”

A strange mix of anticipation and apprehension coiled in my chest. The land may have been changing, but something in Caleb’s eyes told me that my past hadn’t fully loosened its grip just yet.
