Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 297
Aurora’s P.O.V
The air between Caleb and I was thick with unspoken words, the kind of silence that was charged with a sensual energy that was undeniable and irresistible. I had never thought about sex or dating before, but when Caleb rescued me and brought me into his world, everything changed. Now, I couldn’t even think about looking at another man, not in the same way that I looked at Caleb.
Maybe it was the mating bond speaking, but there was something magnetic about him, something that drew me right from the moment that I had laid eyes on him in the high school hallways. And now, in the quiet of the night, with only the dim light of the packhouse flickering in the background, I couldn’t hold back any longer.
When he leaned in, his breath mingling with mine, everything else disappeared. I couldn’t hear anything, couldn’t think of anything except him. His lips were soft at first, gentle, almost tentative, as though he was testing the waters. But then something shifted—something in him snapped.
His hand cupped the back of my head, pulling me closer, and his lips moved with more vigor, the kiss deepened against mine, hungry and urgent. I felt my pulse quicken, my body responding to him almost immediately as I arched my back, my chest flush against his. His hands, warm and strong, found their way to the hem of my shirt, lifting it just enough to touch the bare skin of my back.
And then, it was as if the world had collapsed around us. We were lost in it—lost in the heat, the need, the urgency of everything that had been building up ever since I stepped into the room. I didn’t care about the outside world, or what was happening inside the pack, I didn’t care about what was happening all around us in that very moment. All that mattered was him, and the way he made me feel. His lips trailed down my neck, and a breath caught in my throat, a mix of pleasure and anticipation running through me.
But just as I thought we couldn’t get any closer, a loud, blaring alarm cut through the air like a lightning strike, splitting the moment in half.
The sound was so sudden, so jarring, that it felt like the world had been yanked back into focus all at once. My heart lurched in my chest as I pulled away from him, blinking as if trying to make sense of what had just happened. I looked around, my mind struggling to catch up with the chaos, but all I saw was Caleb’s face, tense, his eyes wide and alert.
“What’s going on?” I gasped, my breath still uneven from what had just transpired.
He didn’t answer me immediately. Instead, he moved quickly, his hands instinctively reaching for mine, pulling me up to my feet. There was no hesitation in his actions, just a focused intensity.
“It’s the alarm. Something’s happening—there’s a breach at the perimeters,” he said, his voice low, a touch of urgency lacing his words.
Before I could process what he meant, he was already tugging at my shirt, fixing it hurriedly, as though we didn’t have a second to waste. His movements were sharp, efficient, as if he’d done this a thousand times before. “Stay close,” he murmured, his voice now a low command that I couldn’t argue with, not when the adrenaline had already started to surge through my veins, pushing my confusion to the back of my mind.
I nodded, too dazed to do anything else. The alarm blared on, louder and more insistent now, and I could feel my heart thundering in my chest as my mind raced. What was happening? Why now? I had so many questions, but the urgency in Caleb’s movements told me there wasn’t time for them.
My breath hitched in my throat, and the walls seemed to close in around me as if everything was spinning faster than I could keep up. My eyes darted toward Caleb, who was hurriedly pulling on his clothes, his movements swift but composed, and yet, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was horribly wrong.
"Caleb," I whispered, my voice trembling as the sense of dread only intensified. "What’s going on? What’s happening?" I was desperate, my chest constricting as the chaos outside grew more apparent. His movements didn’t slow. If anything, he was even more focused, the calmness in his demeanor only making the dread churn in me deeper.
Without sparing a glance, he grasped my hand, his fingers closing around mine with an ironclad grip that seemed to ground me momentarily. But it didn’t stop the growing panic inside of me. He turned, his eyes locking with mine, and for a fleeting second, I could see the weight of something heavy in them—something he was trying so hard not to let slip.
“Aurora, you need to stay beside me, understand?” His voice was low but firm, the kind of tone that brooked no argument. “I can’t explain right now, but I promise I’ll get you somewhere safe. Just stay with me.”
I could barely process the words. Somewhere safe? I wanted to ask more questions, to demand an explanation, but the growing sounds of shouting from the outside, the frantic scrambling, the distant crashing noises, left me no room to argue. Still, the anxiety gnawed at me like a thousand gnashing teeth, clawing at my nerves, and the unease settled deeper into my bones.
“Caleb!” I snapped, unable to contain the rising tide of fear that had started to flood my chest. His calm was becoming unbearable, an ocean of silence between us that only intensified my confusion. I pulled my hand from his, taking a step back, my heart hammering.
“What’s going on? Why aren’t you telling me what the hell is happening? What does this alarm mean?” The words were coming out faster than I could keep up with, my mind racing, my hands shaking. I couldn’t take it anymore. The lack of answers was suffocating, more terrifying than anything else.
Caleb stopped in his tracks, his expression hardening for a split second. He looked at me, his eyes softening only a little before the hard lines of worry and resolve took over again. Sighing, he ran a hand over his face, the frustration evident in the subtle tension of his jaw.
“Aurora…” he began, his voice a little softer now, but just as serious. “The alarm means we’re under attack. Rogue wolves. They’re here.”
Rogue wolves. The words didn’t fully register at first, my mind fighting to catch up.
“What?” I choked out, my knees threatening to buckle beneath me. "Under attack? Why? Why are rogues here?" My voice cracked as I searched his face for more answers, anything to help me understand what was happening. I had been so wrapped up in the normalcy of our life here, in the warmth of Caleb's presence, that this moment felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.
Caleb moved towards me, his eyes never leaving mine as he reached out to steady me. "I don’t have the answers right now, Aurora. All I know is that they’re here, and they’re dangerous. They’ve breached the perimeter, and we have to move fast." He stepped closer, his hand gripping mine once more, firm and unwavering. "I need you to trust me. I’m going to get you to safety. Do you understand?"
I swallowed hard, trying to force the knot in my throat to loosen, but nothing seemed to help. I nodded, though I wasn’t sure if I could even trust my own response.
“I trust you,” I whispered, but it felt like an empty promise, fragile and tentative, hanging in the air between us. Still, I let him pull me toward the door, my steps unsure, my heart still drumming a frantic beat in my chest. But as Caleb led me into the unknown, my thoughts lingered on the rogue wolves. The terror of what was to come flooded every inch of my being.
