Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 277

Caleb’s P.O.V

I made my way down the long hallway, each step feeling heavier than the last as I approached my father’s office. My mind was swirling with a mix of anticipation and hesitation, unsure of what exactly I’d walk into. The door to the office was ajar, a faint murmur of voices coming through. I took a deep breath, knocked twice, and then pushed the door open.

“Dad?” I called out, stepping into the room. The sight that greeted me wasn’t what I’d expected. There, sitting comfortably on the leather chairs, were my mom and Alice. The two of them were deep in conversation, papers scattered around them as if they’d been in the middle of something important.

My father, Alpha Camden, was behind his large mahogany desk, his brow furrowed as he scanned over some documents. He glanced up at me, his expression softening just slightly.

“Caleb,” he said, nodding. “You need something?”

I cleared my throat and looked between him, my mom, and Alice. “Should I come back later?” I asked, shifting uncomfortably on my feet.

Before my father could answer, my mother looked up from the papers she was holding. “No, Caleb, it’s fine,” she said with a warm smile. “We were just discussing the training schedule for Aurora, Ashton, and Maggie. You can join us. We’ll talk about it later anyway.”

I nodded, still feeling a little uneasy, but I made my way over to the couch and sat down beside my mother. My gaze briefly flickered to Alice, who was always so calm, composed, and somehow intimidating in her quiet way. I wasn’t sure why, but I always found myself hesitant to speak up when she was around. It wasn’t like I didn’t respect her—it was just… Well, after what happened with Harmona, it was difficult to trust another witch this easily.

There was an awkward silence, one that I didn’t know how to fill, as I sat there trying to decide what to say. My father was busy with his papers again, but he didn’t seem to mind the pause. Then, after a moment, he looked over at me with a raised brow. “You can speak, Caleb. It’s alright,” he said, his voice surprisingly gentle.

I took in a deep breath, feeling the weight of it all pressing down on me. I knew this was the right time to bring it up—there was no more stalling. “Dad, I… I need to know more about Ashton and Maggie. Their training, what they’re capable of, what they’ve been through. I need to understand what we’re working with.”

My father didn’t blink, but his eyes narrowed slightly as he absorbed what I was saying. He set the papers aside and folded his hands in front of him. “Ashton and Maggie…” he began slowly, his voice carrying a sense of both concern and calculation. “They’re not like any witches we’ve witnessed before. Their training, their potential—it’s more unpredictable. But you’re right, we need to get a better grasp on their past.”

Alice, who had been quiet until now, leaned forward slightly, her gaze fixed on me. “Caleb, if you’re asking about their capabilities, I think you already know that both of them have a lot more power than they’re aware of,” she said, her tone level but firm. “They’re raw. We have to be careful, but we also have to give them room to grow. You know that, right?”

I swallowed, trying to process her words. “Yeah, I know. But that’s not what has me worried. Considering how we all came close to a catastrophe not too long ago, I just thought it’s best to investigate further into the matter before trusting them completely. There’s a lot at stake.”

My mother reached over, placing a hand on my shoulder in a reassuring gesture. “That’s what has you so worried? You know…we didn’t want to let you know, since it’s an Alpha’s duty, but Ashton, Maggie and Avery are being monitored as of now. So there is less to no chance of them catching us unaware.”

I nodded, feeling a weight lifted from my chest. “I’ll trust you, mom, Dad. I just want to make sure we’re ready for whatever comes next.”

“Why are you asking this, Caleb?” My dad’s voice was steady, but there was an edge to it, a cautiousness like he wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer.

I swallowed hard, glancing away for a moment before forcing myself to meet his eyes again. “Because it’s been on my mind for a while now,” I admitted. “Dad… Ashton and Maggie were with that psychopath for over five years.” I paused, letting that number sink in because it had been eating away at me. Five years. “That was a long time—long enough for someone like Lucas to completely warp a person’s mind, to break them down piece by piece and build them back up into something unrecognizable.”

My father’s expression darkened, but he stayed quiet, giving me the space to keep going.

“That’s a long time for him to mess with their heads,” I continued, shaking my head slightly. “And yet, they seem to be adjusting really well. Almost too well.”
